0-byte .mdmp file on program exit
by Guest Mathias Koerber- 0 replies

What could make a service on a Windows Server 2003 create a 0-sized (ie empty) <processname>.<pid>.mdmp file on exit. On another system (both are Win Server 2k SP2) this does not happen. It happens when the process exits cleanly itself or if it is stopped using the windows service management console. I had a look at patch differences between both systems and nothing seems to be related to those empty .mdmp files. The service runs fine in any other respect, it's just these files being generated whenever it is stopped. Any hints could be appreciated

I have a Dell E310, Pentium 4, 2.8Ghz. When I open the device manager I have no ports file. It just gives me a other devices with a yellow question mark. When I open that up it has a ethernet control w/question mark. I'm not using a network, it's just a stand alone computer. I think I lost the ports file after updating to SP3. Anyone know whats going on? Thanks Jeff

I have an application which requires .NETframework 2.0.50727 minimum. Can this be installed on Me? If so where can I get it? I tried installing something from MS (NetFx20SP1_x86.exe) but I get a missing dll warning when I try to install it so it probably isn't made for Me. Amy ideas (other than upgrade the computer)? This computer works better than my Xp computers and I really don't want to mess with it. Thanks, John

by Guest R. McCarty- 7 replies

Just a warning to users who update their Adobe Shockwave. Symantec has a new agreement to piggy-back their software into the download. From Adobe's website: How is Norton Security Scan from Symantec connected to Shockwave Player? As part of a recent distribution agreement with Symantec, Adobe will offer its customers the option to install the free Norton Security Scan software as part of the Shockwave Player installation process. Only customers who accept the Norton Security Scan offer will download the Norton Security Scan software. Those who decline the offer will download and install only Shockwave Player. Norton Security Scan is only offered to users who…

Problem add ing new User Account

>We're always here to laugh and cry. >*TimDaniels* Thank you Tim - but your reward is I'm back :-) Got all tangled up trying to get Users Names to agree with those listed in Explorer. Lost a lot of friends on that one. Anyway, we got that resolved, however, now it appears after I add a new user via C/P User Accounts, the new account name does not appear in Explorer, event after logging off and/or rebooting. Any suggestions on how to make a new User Account appear correctly as a Folder in Explorer? WinXp SP2 and not on a domain. Dave

Intel 915 chipset and drivers for W98?
by Guest someone watching- 2 replies

Looking to buy an IBM laptop with Intel's 915 chipset. IBM's web site shows support/compatibility from W2K upward, no W98 support (I guess because of the chipset). Googled for info, found some but there is still a question about proper USB2 support (seems you can get 1.1 but not 2) and ANY audio support (there is none!). Decided to ask here; anybody ever try to get 98 running with Intel's 915 chipset? Did you succeed? You know where drivers are available? Thanks

I recently had a major system crash and had to replace my hard drive and reload XPpro. I remember getting a simple suffix to add to the command explorer.exe that would open explorer so that C:/ would already be expanded. Can anyone refresh my memory of this? Thanks in advance.

Hi, We used to create wrapper for msrdp.ocx and mstscax.dll in Windows desktop OS as 2k/2k3/xp/vista/2k8; then use them in other applications. Now, we're trying to write similar Active OCX in Windows CE, which will warp MS RDP client component and be used in our other applications. The problem we're experiencing is that we do not not how to use the mstscax.dll in Windows CE. We even can not register mstscax.dll with regsvrce.exe in Windows CE. We need to build application to control attributes and process to create RDP session in Windows CE as in Windows desktop platforms we did already. RDP file - age - limit usage
by Guest roger.williams.tractors@googlemail.com- 1 reply

I have a web based app to issue RDP files; 140 [max] users), with only 100 [random] login accounts. Thus when the user is presented with a generated RDP file, they get the 3 options Download, save or Cancel. Is there a method for aging the RDP login file, so it will only work for a limited time - thus stopping the user from saving the file and trying to open the same file every day?
