Registry Problem WTS 2008
by Guest Ole Weigelt- 0 replies

Hi everybody, I have a strange problem: I have a Server2008 WTS environment. Sometimes it happens that I get messages like this: {Lost Delayed-Write Data} The system was attempting to transfer file data from Buffers to \Device\LanmanRedirector. The write operation failed, and only some of the data may have been written to the file (in German) Message ID 50 Last Word C000020C (Yes, I have posted that message before and got no answer...) Now, I have performed some tests. They showed that some registry keys seem to disappear. Am I correct that every user on a WTS should have a set of keys under HKEY_USERS? When the error occurs, it seems …

Which edition of Server 2003 x64?
by Guest Niall Connaughton- 7 replies

Hi, I'm going to ask a question you've probably seen a lot of, but my problem is that finding one source of information that is whole and consistent on this issue has been quite tricky. So I thought I'd ask here to see if I get some expert knowledge. It have to decide what version of Windows Server 2003 to install on a collection of servers, choosing from Standard or Enterprise editions, 32 or 64 bit. Our provider charges us roughly 3-4 times the price of Standard for installing and maintaining Enterprise edition. On the servers, we'll be running a service written in C# which uses some mixed managed/unmanaged C++ code. The machines have at least 8GB…

Event ID 4191 - TCP/IP error
by Guest Lajus Norvejikus- 0 replies

Hi all, Yesterday, I reverse one virtual machine on VirtualPC 2005, runing Windows 2003 Server R2, to a server machine. I used a legal Acronis to do that. I corrected all problems, except one Event ID 4191, with the following message: "IP could not open the registry key for adapter TCPIP\Parameters\Adapters \NDISWANIP. Interfaces on this adapter will not be initialized." I want to correct this because I enter the TCP/IP definitions, on Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > (my connection) > Properties, then select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties, and when I can back to the same window definitions the information I ent…

Ports to Open for certificate services
by Guest Greg- 4 replies

Hi, I am in the process of setting up a CA within my Active Directory. The enterprise CA will be in the same VLAN as the domain controllers and any other servers that wish to use the service. All workstations (and end users) reside in a different VLAN with a firewall between the two. Computer and user certificates will be issued to domain users and computers throughout the domain. I was wondering what network ports I needed to open in order for this to occur... is it the http port that it communicates on for this purpose? Thanks in advance. Greg

Problems for using SubInAcl.
by Guest hill- 0 replies

Hi everyone, I have some problems about using SubInAcl. 1. I use SubInAcl to modify DACL of registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\1. Before I begin to use SubInAcl, there has existed a ACE for user Everyone has full control permission. After I run the command line: subinacl /regkey HKEY_CURRENT_USER\1 /deny=everyone=c I found the behavior of SubInAcl is that delete the old ACL for user everyone and create a new ACE for everyone with Create SubKey pemission. Is it possible to let SubInAcl not to delete the old ACE. In addition, is it possible to specify inheritance flags and propagation flags for ACE by SubInAcl? Thanks. 2. I play SubIn…

We have a server that needs to run with the administrator account logged in at all time because of some third-party software. For that reason I would like to get rid of the Log Off button. I tried adjusting the group policy for the server but it didn's work. Is there any other way, maybe some registry edit? Thanks yaro

How to move user profile from one domain to another
by Guest Mike- 5 replies

Hi Is it possible to move user profile from one domain to another? Our company users have WindowsXP workstations joined into Win2000 domain. Since we're in a plan of impelemnting new Win2008 domain environment (new DC servers with new user/computer accounts) I'm wondering what is the simpliest way to re-join computer from old domain to a new one so that users will still have their profiles. Yes I know we can simply put computer out of a domain and join them to a new one and log-on with a new user account, but then we need to move all settings and data from old user profile to a new one. Can this be done more automatically? Thank you in advance. Regards…

Problem "Un-cloning" HD
by Guest Dave- 19 replies

Wanted to replace my full primary HD with a larger one. Cloned a new drive as an external, replaced original internal with the new drive. Had some problems (more on this later), decided to go back and reclone newer drive. Removed new cloned drive, replace with original. Now when I boot with the original, I get, after a VERY long pause, "Primary drive not found - Strike F1 to continue, F2 to run Setup Utility" If I hit F1, the system continues to load just fine. Explorer shows everything as it should be, Device Manager shows no problems, this device working properly, etc., etc. The original HD was jumpered as cable select. Also tried jumpering as …

I know that there were MANY problems upgrading Windows XP from SP1 to SP2. My dad has a Dell desktop computer that is still running XP Home with SP1 and needs to update his Service Pack for software needs. How does XP do when going directly from SP1 to SP3?? Does it have the same problems as going from SP1 to SP2?
