When creating a shortcut, the icon will then include a small arrow in the left side bottom corner. Is it possible to control this, and either remove it or change it somehow or anything along those lines?

I have a problem where I can not boot my PC. It keeps coming up with the screen that shows how you want to boot. Normal, Safe mode, Last good, etc. Done of those options work. I took the hard drive out and put it in my other PC as a slave. When I boot my other PC it wants to run chkdsk on the other hard drive. When I let it run it gets thru the first section ok then it starts the second it comes out with the following message over and over again. Inserting an index entry into index $0 of file 32. It never stops. Any ideas? Thanks, Rick

inventory tool
by Guest mmark751969- 1 reply

I am looking for a tool that will allow me to do a workstation/server inventory. Something a little more sophisticated than a ping sweep. Something that will not be dependent on the workstation being online at time of inventory. Something that will interrogate dhcp or maybe the netbios table. Something that leaves a longer footprint than just a ping sweep. Thanks

The CPU is a compact wiondows xp home edition. This is the first time that i am trying to burn a dvd-r cd as data? Im pretty much trying to back up my music just incase anything was to happen. I added all the songs to the burn list, I switched the type from audio cd to data cd since I wanted to make a data cd. WMP reads that the disk is blank and then i go ahead and click "burn" and as soon as i click on burn the cd gets ejected from the tower, Would anyone have any idea as far as whats wrong with my computer. I dont have any problems burning audio cd's or data cd's using CD-R, so i'm not sure whats going on ?If you need more info about my computer just let me kn…

Developer version of Windows 2003

Is there a way to get a Developer version of Windows 2003? I am trying to play with Active directory and Sql Server 2005 for certifications and can't really afford to purchase a couple copies of it. I think it used to come with the Developer version of Sql Server 2000 but not sure if it is still available for this purpose. Thanks, Tom

64-bit IE7 felicity: 32-bit add-ons don't run (hooray!)
by Guest David Stevens- 3 replies

I love 64-bit Vista. ActiveX controls and browser add-ons -- like Adobe Flash -- tend to be 32-bit animals. They don't work on the 64-bit versions of IE7 and other browsers. I like that. It means I don't get bothered by advertising animations. Instead, I get lots of little messages inviring me to install the newest Flash. I find those messages easier to ignore than the actual animations. They also require less bandwidth. If my wife really needs a video fix from YouTube or the Daily Show website, she can use the 32-bit version of IE7. But I've come to favor the 64-bit browser precisely because it helps me keep my focus on whatever I am…

Can XP Media Center be upgraded to XP Professional? If 'yes', can it be done using 'XP Professional Upgrade', similarly to upgrading from 'XP Home', or do I have to use 'XP Professional Full'? ('XP Media Center' has some quirks that I would like to be done with.)

our 11 year old has his own computer and frankly it is a mess. Lots of games and stuff which he installed and which have slowed the system to a crawl. I would like to fix it by either re-installing windows or repairing it. The computer came originally with windows 95 (yeah, i know, but he's only eleven) and then was upgraded to windows xp. We have the original win 95 retail disc and the win xp upgrade disc. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance. b

I have a computer that I need to re-install windows 2000 on. However, there are some things on the computer that I do not want to wipe out and back up is not an option. Can I re-install Windows 2000 over the old installation like you used to be able to do with Windows 98?
