Getting Wallpaper tab back in the Display Properties panel.
by Guest sawyer4444- 2 replies

Hello, I was at a friends home today helping her with a virus problem. One of the things the virus did was replace the wallpaper with one that has a fake program message box. I right clicked on the desktop to get the Display Properties dialog box so that I could pick a new wallpaper file but the Wallpaper tab and the Screen Saver tab were missing. This prevented me from choosing a new wallpaper file. How do I get those tabs back so that I can change the wallpaper and screen saver settings? - Thanks, Tom

Limiting number of sessions on Windows 2003 TS
by Guest Edmond Lo- 2 replies

Hi there, We have a few Windows 2003 TSs running on a load balancing setup with a Foundry Load Balancing Switch. What we want to do is to limit the number active and disconnected session on any one of the TS. The reason behind that is our users will log onto a TS session, start an resource intensive application, then disconnect and reconnect later on to see the result on the application. Hence we would like to set a limit on the number of active and disconnected session just so we can have even number of session on each TS. I know there is a way to limit the number of active connect to the server, but just can't find anything limiting the combine of…

These guys http://www.majorgeeks.com/Nvidia_Forceware_for_Vista_d5935.html say there is a new release of Nvidia drivers with PhysX support! Ageia PhysX was an add-in card that supported the law of physics in games. NVidia bought Ageia and now no separate card is needed. These drivers still don't show up in NVidia's web site. Carlos

Deleted Files Re-Appear
by Guest RAZ4183- 2 replies

I have a recurring issue with one of my users. We use roaming profiles on our network (windows 2003 servers SP2) his laptop has XP Pro SP2. Several months ago he deleted a number of Word/Excel files from his desktop but they would re-appear after he rebooted his system. I deleted the same files from his desktop, his locally cached profile, and from his roaming profile. This seemed to have solved the issue. Now those same files are back on his desktop several months later. This exact same situation happened last year with these same files. What is causing this and how can I permanently remove these files?

How do you make NTBACKUP back up open files?
by Guest BadBoy House- 4 replies

We use ntbackup to back up our server each night. Normally this works fine but since introducing a remote access solution for staff it seems that if staff leave a server based program open on their workstations the backup system doesn't back the files up. This is beginning to get problematic as some important data is being excluded from the backup. Other than trying to make sure that staff close programs is there anything else I can do to make sure that the data is backed up successfully? Is there a way of automatically closing programs at a certain time? thanks in advance.

Can XP theme be run under W2008 and TS.

I know that a Vista desktop experience can be set up under W2008 (I have added the feature but cannot work out how to use it - maybe because users are still using RDP 5.2 - but that's another question) but I would like to still have our TS users experiencing Windows XP. Is this possible under W2008. -- Regards Tom

My boss tried to copy a file from one CD to another (before I started working here). Now, every time you boot the computer, it says that there is a file waiting to be written to CD. But you can't delete the temporary file because the CD is was pulled from isn't available. Is there any other way to get rid of this annoying message and the associated file? -- dhunton

Changing From Classic View

Hello, my friend's display changed to Classic View when she got on today. It used to be the Windows XP View. She tried going to Appearance and Themes>Display, but the only options were My Current Theme, Windows Classic, More Themes Online, and Browse. She also tried Appearance and Themes>Taskbar and Start Menu, but Start Menu was already selected. If it makes any difference, she has a laptop. Does anyone know how to change it back to the Windows XP View?

2000 Server not accessible after dcpromo
by Guest Jeffery Rehm- 1 reply

Had a 2000 server as a domain controller and installed a 2003 server. I ran the forest and domain prep on the 2000 box, made the 2003 a domain controller and transferred all the roles to the 2003 box. DNS is currently on both machines with the 2003 box now being primary and 2000 secondary. DNS is working fine and no replication or any other errors on either box. 2003 will process logins fine and all seems well... except for one thing. Demoted the 2000 box and now I cannot access it from the 2003 box. Get network unavailable or access denied depending on what I'm doing. Can access the 2003 from the 2000 without a problem. I tried removing the 2000 bo…
