NTBackup / Tape Label problems
by Guest Gnubman- 8 replies

Greetings, I am having problems running backups on an HP StorageWorks 1/8 Autoloader. The backup fails when it tries to load the tape. We are running Server 2003 sp1. We have a copy of Backup Exec v8 that is installed. This version of BackupExec does not support our Autoloader. I have tried to uninstall BackupExec but it fails with a "uninst.iso is corrupted or not valid" error. When I put a new tape into the Autoloader and try to run a test backup, it recognizes that it is a new tape and tries to use it. After this part I watched the tape drive load and unload the tape several times before ntbackup started complaining about the wait time. E…

by Guest Howard Brazee- 3 replies

I had an application lock up today within my remote desktop (It was Vista, while my computer was XP). I hit Ctl-Alt-Delete and got my computer's list of programs, which included the remote desktop program. So I could have killed the remote desktop, which I didn't need to do - but I didn't see how to kill that locked up program. What are my options.

Unmountable_boot_drive
by Guest Scotty- 2 replies

I am using an OEM version of Windows XP on a Dell PC which is about 4 years old. I recently rebooted and I now am receiving a blue screen with the message Unmountable_Boot_Drive. I no longer have the original OEM disks of Windows XP, however, I have Windows XP disks from another computer. I have tried booting from the setup disks and when I get the setup screen I have the choices of hitting the R key for repair or the enter key to resetup XP, however, nothing happens when I hit either the R key or the enter Key. Any suggestions how I can work around this. I have searched through Google and there are several posts about this problem, however, they…

by Guest IT_Cowboy- 8 replies

I am having a problem with Windows Storage server . Every three weeks (to the day) stops communicating with the domain controllers. At first it seems like a network issue, but no other machines are affected (either servers or workstations). The symptoms are as follows: 1. Cannot remote desktop into the machine, says domain controller cannot be reached for authentication (UserEnv error ID 1053 occurs in Application log) 2. DFS Replication stops (of course it cannot find either DC, one of which it replicates to Event ID 5002) 3. Local workstations can access files, remote workstations that need to authenticate to acces files cannot 4. Not able to con…

GPO settings for Intranet security zone ignored
by Guest The Cavalry- 5 replies

When a user logs into a PC on our domain a GP is applied with the relevant Intranet security zone sites. When the same user logs into the Terminal server these settings are ignored even though the relevant GP is applied. I have therefore setup seperate OU and GP for Terminal Server and set the security settings on the machine. I have set GP to force local security settings and not use the user ones but still this does not work. This is very annoying as users are prompted for their username and password everytime they access our Intranet. Any help muach appreciated

Re: windows update [X-post to WinXP General] 1. Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your HijackThis log to an appropriate forum. Check for Hijackware http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/Darnit.htm http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Malware_Defence.htm http://defendingyourmachine2.blogspot.com/ When all else fails, HijackThis (http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use. It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post your HijackThis log to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, htt…
