I took over an IT gig and after looking at the server there are lots of updates to be added to the server. When there haven't been any updateds added for a long time is it best to just add then all or to just do a few at a time? This is the only server for this group. It is the exchange sever, file share server, and the internet dns/ gateway. Thanks for your help.

Getting quite a few WMI errors . I did not check to see if these errors were present before the upgrade, but I did look after upgrading the server to 4GB of RAM. The /PAE switch is in the boot.ini, but seems to make no difference whether or not that switch is present. Some samples of errors are... Hi, To start a program with other user credentials you can right click on the program file or its shortcut and choose Run As command. You will be prompted with a dialog box that has two options: Current user and The following user. By default the first option is set. The fact is that in almost all cases you run this dialog to launch a program or tool with other user credentials. So you first have to click "The following user" option, and only after that you will be able enter the creds. Hi, I installed IIS 5.1 on IBM T43 laptop with XP pro SP2 I tried to config the default web --> properties --> home directory then click on the configuration button (that is not disabled) and no window is open. This problem occured the first time first of august. I belive it was after automatic updates. When starting the server the following message pops up: "At least one driver or service failed to start during system startup." When looking in Services most of the automatic services are stopped. It is not possible to start them. After some searching I found this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956189 Thought that was the problem.. But it does not work after reserving ports and uninstalling updates. Its also recommended to reinstall SP2, but it seams I can not do that since the "cryptographic service" is stopped. Any advice?

In an effort to make more disc space on this computer, I removed Real Player. I also seem to have Real Player 4 installed. I tried to remove it and at 33% I got the message Could not delete file C:\windows\SYSTEM\decdnet.dll. So I searched for it in Explorer and deleted it manually. I then got an immediate similar error about another file. I was in a clean boot. It said these files were being used by another open program. I had no open programs except explorer and add/remove. I need help with Microsoft virtual Machine. I setup a windows 2000 and a Windows XP virtual machine. I'm using them to run different applications that Windows Vista cannot run. anyways, after backing up the virtual machine files to a external hard drive, the windows 2000 virtual machine stopped working. does anyone have any seggestion for fixing it. the virtual machine witll not boot. when i click the "start" to start the virtual machine I just get a blank window. if i boot the XP virtual machine and have set it up so that its 2nd hard drive is the primary hard drive from the windows 2000 virtual machine. it shows that all of the files from the windows…

I've read that in XP Home Edition the back up utility isn't installed by default but I can install it from the CD. The problem is XP Home Edition was preinstalled on my PC and I have only the recovery CDs which I browsed but I didn't find Ntbackup.msi. I also checked out the System Tools in the Accessories menu with no success so I think the back up utility wasn't preinstalled togheter with the OS. How can I install Ntbackup.msi on my PC? I've been working on a friend's laptop. It had IE7 and SP2. Normally, I would downgrade from IE7 to IE6 before upgrading to SP3 (and *then* upgrade back to IE7 in order to have more flexibility -- once you are at SP3, it's impossible to go from IE7 back to IE6 unless you go back to SP2 first!).
