Hi, My current favourites folder is empty, I am not sure what deleted the entries, although I did receive an error message from "NoAdware" which dissapered. Luckily I have export my favourites reguallarly to a file. When trying to import the favourites back from these files, I get a frozen page. Add to favourites > import and export > next > import favourites > import from a file > browse > highlite file > next > import favourites destination folder > select the folder where the imported favourites will be placed, no folders are shown. I have deleted and reinstalled IE7, this did not resolve the problem, my OS is XP ho…

Hi, I want to robocopy files created yesterday (based on the "Date Modified" timestamp) It seems to me that the options /MAXLAD /MINLAD /MAXAGE /MINAGE are calculating based on 24 hrs timeframe. For example, if I use /MAXAGE:1 and robocopy at 3pm, I will get the logs from 3pm yesterday up to current time but not the logs at 2:59 pm yesterday. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Application log Event ID 513 from CAPi2
by Guest Sejong- 0 replies
After the Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) role is added to a Windows Server 2008 server, running vssadmin list writers generates output that does not include System Writer and generates Event ID 513 from CAPi2 in the Application log. Text of this event: Cryptographic Services failed while processing the OnIdentity() call in the System Writer Object. Prior to adding the AD DS role, running vssadmin list writers generates output that does include System Writer and does not generate Event ID 513. Permissions on the Registration folder in the Windows folder (%windir%) are as shown below. In all cases the permission are shown under Special permis…

License Issued 0

Hi, I’ve installed Terminal Server Licensing on two Domain Controller’s. The servers are activated and TS User CAL’s are installed. (MPLS agreement) When I start the Terminal Server Licensing Tool on the Terminal Server it discover the two DC’s. Only the column Issued is 0 I didn’t expect that because yours are logged on. I’ve checked: - license mode on the TS and it is Per User - no errors in the TS event viewer when users log on - no errors in de DC event viewer when users log on - I’m using auto discovery mode (and it works, because the TS automatically shows me the two DC’s) I found this article: http://blogs.msdn.com/ts/archive/2008/02/01/li…

programs report wrong OS
by Guest sheds_1- 1 reply

I am currently running XP home edition sp2 but when I download certain programs like IE 8, ITunes, etc...the software program terminates installation and tells me that the program is not compatible with my OS. Some of these programs report that I am using Windows 2000, which I am not. When I check my OS version on my computer it says I am using XP which was installed when I bought the computer. Any suggestions as to why this is happening? How do I fix it? Thank-you!

PC turns itself on while hibernating
by Guest Joe- 14 replies

I have a Compaq Presario sr2044nx PC with XP MCE2005, Service pack 2, 2.8ghz Pentium D, 2GB ram, 180GB HDD, 90 GB free, that turns itself on while it's supposed to be hibernating. Some days it stays off, sometimes it is only off for an hour. I have to turn off the power strip if I want to be certain it will stay off. The Microsoft hibernate patch KB909095 is installed, and automatic updates are turned on. In Device Manager, there are four devices - network card, modem, keyboard, mouse - with a "power management" tab which have a checkbox for "allow this device to bring computer out of standby," which are all unchecked. There are no options in the …

I have a windows server 2003 terminal server so i told my group policy to use fallback pcl driver and then deleted printer drivers from terminal server. and indeed it fallsback to deskjet 500, but when clients print some reports they dont come out right. so i manually changed driver to 4/4m ps and it prints out fine. so i said okay, and told my group policy to fallback to ps driver, all printers are hp and support ps, gpupdated ts server, rebooted. and this morning they all use 500 pcl driver again. so how do i make them use ps instead of pcl fallback driver.

Available Memory to 32-Bit Applications
by Guest Mike Sharpe- 13 replies

We are running Windows XP64 and we are using 4 CPU machines that have 8GB total. We have a program that was written in 32-Bit code that runs on these computers. It does some complex mathematics and data crunching. Since we have 4 CPUs on this computer, we create 4 separate processes. Our assumption was that each process can have 2 GB worth of addressable space. Since the code is written in 32-Bit, do these 4 CPUs each share the same 4GB of lower memory? What we are seeing is that our code is running out of memory when the total system memory usage is around 1.8GB. This leads me to believe that the 64-Bit version of Windows cannot remap memory i…

RemoteApp vs. full Remote Desktop
by Guest Blake- 3 replies

I've read in some places where I can give a user access to a RemoteApp WITHOUT giving them full remote desktop. I've also read the opposite. Can I give someone the ability to use RemoteApp (Windows 2008 TS server, obviously) without giving them the ability to actually log into a full fledged deskop via RDP? ie - I'd like to keep them off the desktop for security reasons. Thanks Blkae
