by Guest Alice Wei- 1 reply

I have an application that I have built and compiled into a shockwave file with a form that allows users to trigger the external code written in PHP that executes an .exe file and see the returned results. The PHP code works even with this exe file function call embedded, but once I try to run it from the shockwave file, it gives me this following error: An unhandled win32 exception occurred in my-manager.exe [2372]. I did refer to the document http://support.microsoft.com/kb/81191 and I found that my registry key is explore.exe and not anything else. Could anyone please help me find a solution in which I get get rid of this Visual Studio Just In …

Creating Group Policies in General
by Guest Jim in Cleveland- 2 replies

I was curious what the best practice is for creating a group policy. Is it better to combine a bunch of settings into one group policy or is it better to create a group policy for each particular setting that you want to implement? I know that latter might become overwhelming if you create dozens of GPs. But if you do it that way, couldn't you label the GP accordingly? What is the difference between Link order and Precedence? Regarding precedence order, I understand that the higher numbered GPOs are processed before the lower numbered ones are. With that being said, suppose GPO2 hides the control panel and GPO1 does not. If GPO2 is processed first, …

Servers "stop"
by Guest Guus Ellenkamp- 2 replies

I have a small network with 2 domain controllers with Windows Server 2003. They are also used as workstations, which has worked fine, until a few weeks ago. Since this time they "freeze" for a few minutes like every half hour or so. I cannot find anything in the error log and can't imagine what it is. I have the feeling it is network related, but cannot pinpoint it. Today I heard that when there is only one user using them everything is fine. As soon as more users arrive, the problem starts. I have been experimenting with IPV6, but still can't imagine why this would affect the system(s). Please advise.

Hello Everyone, I have recently gave up my subscriptions to Experts Exchange due to the lack of responses when posting an item. (The help was perfect when someone did respond) My question is, I have posted a "How to" on here, and I would like someone to tell me where to view it or search "My Questions" at a later time. If this is not a possibility, I would like to know. Thanks everyone.

high cpu utilization of IE for one TS user
by Guest om- 2 replies

Hi, One of the terminal users is experiencing slowness with his IE. I ran Process Explorer on the terminal server and noticed that his IE instance did take more CPU resource than other TS users. I checked and they all seem to have the same IE settings. I deleted all IE temp. files as well as reduced the disk space size for the particular user but it didn't help either. Can you some suggest how i can identify the problem? Thanks

Time service problem
by Guest PaddleHard- 3 replies

Greetings, We are running server 2003 r2 fully patched domain controllers. Everything has been running fine for quite a while--event logs running clean, no replication issues, etc. This afternoon, I noticed my time changed on my XP box. I got on our PDC Em. and it was skewed by an hour just like my PC. I had set this server a good while back to pull time from an external source and it has been humming along. I hunted down the KB article on setting an authoritative time server and dug into the registry. It appeared that some setting had been changed, so I got that fixed and changed the source (time.windows.com didn't seem to be working) to USNO ntp. Now it seem…

by Guest richlich- 6 replies

Windows Server 2003 x64 with latest patches and SP. VSS service will not start. Gives "file not found" in System log. ImagePath in registry is correct and vssvc.exe is in the path (%SystemRoot%\system32) shown in the registry. Running vssadmin list writers doesn't show any writers. Please help as this is affecting our ability to back up or Exchange 2007 mailstores and the System State on this server. Many thanks!

Was my copy of Windows XP previously registered?
by Guest Chuck9079- 4 replies

I would like to know if there is a way to 1: find out if a copy of Windows XP was previously registered, and 2: Check for a legal copy of Windows without actually trying to install the software in my machine. Is there any way to check the numbers beforehand and avoid the trauma to my computer if the software is bogus?

Executing Exe File in PHP on Windows XP Servers
by Guest Alice Wei- 1 reply

Hi, I am wondering if anyone on this list could help me with the following error. I have a snippet of code that calls an exe file before it starts processing anything else from the php file. The code is called as follows: //execute program shell_exec("C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\incidence\my-manager.exe -d$date -p$event"); The entire program works most of the time without my further edits, but sometimes I cannot get the entire program to finish execution because I see a Visual Studio error pop up window asking if I would like to bug due to the code snippet above. Since I execute PHP files with other applications, such an error from Visual S…

I have a legal xp pro system for 2 computers and in the last 2 month have been having hardware problems and have had to reinstall several and move a previously installed system to another computer. Now Microsoft is treating these two installed systems like they are bootleg ones and cutting off several important licenses and aren't letting me download updates . How can I get them to see these two systems are legal. clayman

Search Does Not Find Boot.ini
by Guest Jack Gillis- 7 replies
I wanted to take a look at boot.ini under XP SP3 but had forgotten just where it was. I opened C: via Windows explorer and Searched for it but nothing came up. 'Show hidden files and folders' is checked in Folder options and 'Do not show system files' is not checked either. So I took a careful look at the root of C: and there it was. My question is why didn't Search find it? No big deal, just curious. Thank you

office Update EULA
by Guest John- 6 replies

I am using WSUS to push updates, and recently have had on Office update that requires the end user to accept an EULA thing, yet it doesn't take the accept. It keeps popping up. It appears to go away with admin rights. I do not want to have to visit each one of these machines with the login out... required. Is the a fix for this so the user can accept it or it is done from the server? I posted this under WSUS group but haven't seen an answer.
