So, I recently got this iMac as a gift, but the HDD is kinda toast. It's got an 3.6 GHz Quad-Core i3 and 8Gb of RAM. I'm thinking of either upgrading to an SSD or selling the whole thing and a a new M-series Mac. Here's the breakdown: * SSD upgrade: Costs around £220. * My usage: Word processing, Excel, and browsing. * Other upgrade: Thinking of upgrading RAM from 8GB to 16GB. Given the limited usage, that's also not very taxing, I'm hoping I can squeeze a few more years out of it. Hello. I am using a Macbook and I have 2 external screens connected. I also use my iPad as a third extended screen however when ever the iPad connects it switches the dock and main screen to the Ipad. I check the display settings and it still shows one of my monitors as the main screen and dock however it is on the iPad. I’m not a tech person whatsoever but I would love some insight. I had a 2013 MBP Retina display die on me with some really important stuff on it. I’ve been told it needs a new battery but no shops near me will do the repair. I recently bought a new MacBook Pro M3 Pro (late 2023), the American version, but I'm in Europe (not sure if it matters, but I'll point it out just in case) and found that location services doesn't work. I know that there is no GPS in the mac. It's connected to WiFi, Bluetooth is on, all the settings related to location are turned on. But in none of the apps can it see its own location (weather, Apple Maps, google maps in safari, telegram). The only thing it can do is correctly determine the time zone, and not at first, it initially showed Cupertino. Dictation problem-sorry if this is the wrong place to House I am disabled, and I can’t type very quickly, so I use dictation all the time. I am using a brand-new iPad, sorry don’t know the version number. Most of the time dictation works absolutely perfectly, sometimes it gets it wrong and it can’t seem to get it right when I re-dictate it either. Is this just an issue with iOS? [sOLVED] turns out enabling 'unlock with faceID' disables that apps widgets. I turned off that settings and the widgets are back. iPhone 16 Pro on iOS 18 (not beta). Noticed a few days ago, the rings widget has vanished. It's not available in the list of widgets so I can't re-add it. The fitness/health apps seem to work fine, and the rings complication on my Apple Watch is also fine. I've checked privacy/security settings and the fitness app settings since I thought it might be a permissions issue, but enabling everything makes no difference. I've tried restarting the phone each time I change a setting to see if that will get it to apply, but change. Is it an iOS b…

I have multiple devices all hooked up to the same iCloud account. If I add a reminder on one device, it will be visible on the others. However, if I mark a reminder as completed, this doesn’t seem to sync to the other devices. If I open the reminders app, it’s still there as not done. Hi, one feature I use ALOT is siri speech to text, for writing emails to google searches to WhatsApp. The accuracy is not good and in the last two years I have found myself using the chatgpt app so it accurately transcribes what I say, and then pasting that wherever I need it. Does the speech to text in iOS 18.1 improved or is it the same old one? I have arround 600GB used, and I pay for the 2TB iCloud+. Somehow, I got a notification yesterday saying I didn’t have any more space avaliable. And I was like lol what? I ended up “re-upgrading” to the 2TB and just deal with it. But I found it weird. Anyone had the same occurrence? When I click on the widget it redirects to my phone and I have other numbers. The phone was on flightmode all night, same as my Apple Watch. When I open my MacBook, then in a few moments it syncs the same data. Have another phone that was off the whole night, showing me the same data. I had to reset my settings and some settings have me very confused… So my phone was playing up and I had to reset the settings. Absolutely did not realise what a muck around this would be. On the Lock Screen, there is the control centre that you swipe from the right, to manage wifi, Bluetooth etc. You get it. But then, there is some sort of other drop down menus(Siri suggestions?).
