I suspect this is working as designed.. if so I will send apple feedback. To be more specific: I have Accessibility -> Display & Text Size -> Bold Text enabled, for my whole device. But if i open any book in Apple Books, regardless of font chosen, the text will be bold, even if Themes & Settings -> Customize -> Bold Text is turned off. ? I read something on X about iOS being vulnerable and the post included a recommendation of downloading a certain app from the AppStore to "check" for security vulnerabilities on your device. As the gullible idiot I am, I downloaded this app from the AppStore and before I opened the app it struck me that this could poentially be a Trojan Horse. I immediately deleted it. How likely is it that my device may be compromised? I did not grant it permission or even open it. P.S. Small business. Only 30 computer users. No special apps outside M365. Our ERP is in the cloud and web-based. Will a Mac really last much longer than a PC before having to upgrade? When these machines came out we all thought these could safely be used for me very day work flows for ten years. We’re four years in. Besides running out of ram, does anything feel slow? My only complaint is when I compress the video from zoom meeting it will only use a few cores and I have to wait a few minutes. Ok so basically, I want a new laptop because but i am torn between getting an air and a pro. At first I was going to get an air because it’s cheaper, but then i spoke with my mentor and she said that airs can crash or be slow when coding. Hi, I’m considering buying an M4 Mac Mini and would like some advice. I already own an M1 MacBook Pro (personal use) and plan to get the base M4 Mac Mini (256GB SSD) since I have a Samsung T9 external SSD. My idea is to store personal files on the external SSD for easy sharing between the MacBook and Mac Mini. I've purchased a Dell G2724D monitor that I would like to use as the main display for my Macbook Air M1 2020. Since the laptop has only 2 ports, with one being used for the charger, I require a USB hub to connect the USB receiver for a wireless keyboard, as well as a Displayport connection to the monitor. My usecase is programming work. I don't run LLMs locally but I do a fair bit of compiling and also multi core batch processing (of videos). Current limitations are: slow disk (I hadn't checked that at all before buying), heating up during what I'd call modest compiles, lack of real estate on the screen. The current machine has 16GB ram, and it's not a bottleneck for me, so the base 24GB should be fine. The 16" M4 Pro would likely be a noticeable upgrade for me. I have an OWC Express 1M2 with a Crucial P3 Plus 2TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD inside. Attached to the iMac 3.1 USB port. Speed tests show 420mbps write/read where the 3.1 USB spec shows I should be getting faster speeds. I get I’ll probably not get 10gbps but I would expect higher speeds. I’m getting the same speeds from the NVMe drive as I’m getting from the 1Tb SSD attached. What am I missing? Is more info needed? I feel so so so so stupid right now.... Yesterday I sat and looked at my old time machine copies and wanted to make a new safety copy of my laptop. I thought that I might as well delete some of the old ones to make space. So I googled to see how to do it right, found an article and followed that. Everything worked fine, old ones got deleted, and a new copy was in the making. Now to the part that makes me feel stupid...
