I am still in the need for some assistance. I'd like to thank those who replied to my previous entry. Here is what I'm trying to do, what I've done so far, and some things that people have suggested. I am an Americorp Volunteer working on a technology infrastructure update for an Independent Living Center. This is my first experience using Server 2003 and Terminal Server. I have implemented the Terminal Server and all appears to be working as planned with the exception of the following. We have 4 Satellite offices; each one has their own Network Printer. (Same Brand, Brother 2070n) These printers are assigned a static IP address and are plugged directly …

Restore an image
by Guest Mav- 3 replies
Hi, I have been thinking about drive imaging software to use for backup, but I am concerned about the ability to restore an image after a hardware failure. If I create an image with say Norton Ghost, then have a motherboard failure, and have to replace it, if I then try to restore the image, am I right in thinking Windows will need to be reactivated? Then if I am using an OEM version, the licence would not cover me for a new motherboard? If so, I then have an image that I cannot use unless I can get hold of a motherboard of the exact same make & model. I hope that is not too confusing - I think I may be a little confused here myself, which doesn…

Hi, I have Windows XP Pro X64. I checked Windows Task Manager and discovered that my computer is using "iexplore.exe *32" instead of *64. I get automatic updates so I'm sure that my computer is up-to-date. When is an X64 version expected to come out? -- Denise ~ If you don't know where you came from, you won't know where you're going.

I get an error message #80042301 when attempting backups. I have checked the registry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex\Catalogs\System and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex\Catalogs\Web and all the settings are correct. the application log has a slew of errors, some are (source, event #) vss, 8193;Perflib,2002;vss,5013;vss,12291;ntbackup,8018;ntbackup,8019. Time and Date Properties
by Guest Scott S- 2 replies

After years of using my PC without this problem, I now find my Date and Time have changed and I'm unauthorized to correct it. At some point yesterday the date and time on my PC reverted to April '03 and when I went into Control Panel to change the Date/Time, I got the notice "You do not have the proper privilege level to change the system time". I'm pretty computer illiterate so if anyone can help me, I'll need "dummy" type instruction. Any and all help is appreciated.

Laptop shutting down
by Guest DMN- 4 replies

I have had this problem for about a week now. When I boot up my machine I get an error box... Microsoft Windows The system has recovered from a serious error. If I close this box the machine will reboot. If i push it off to the side and open files or internet it will stay open but sometimes I will get a surprise reboot. There is a file that is put in the temp directory but don't believe it gives any real information. I have noticed in my startup something that keeps showing up after this problem even when I delete it "Kernel Fault Check". Sometimes when I delete it my machine will work for a little while but eventually comes back and machine reboot…

Re: WinDVD.Exe- Application Error Hi, I got the same problem. I've found this error on 5 other forums and tried all their suggestions. I think though with a debugger you can find the file that has the problem loading and then reload a new copy of it or a good copy. Either from the windvd install cd or windows install cd. I have a suspicion that its a dll file. Here's a link to someone with the same error message but with the suggestion of the using a debugger. http://www.d-a-l.com/help/archive/index.php/t-22392.html I hope this helps its the best idea I got. I really wish windows would do this automically for you. Just reload the files that …

Install error message: Not enough space on D
by Guest Satish Gupta- 3 replies

When installing Windows 98 SE using the original CD ROM, I get his message: Not enough space on D To install Win 98 on drive C, you need 21 mb of space on D. D has only 1.4 mb To take care of this problem, please remove some files from hard drive. Hard drive is drive C. How would that free up space on D? Actually, there is no drive D, unless it is some sort of virtual drive. When partitioning the hard drive, I put everything in C. In other words, i did not create two partitions on the hard drive. Is that not acceptable and causing the problem? Thanks Satish

Sysvol not replicating, AD not failing over
by Guest swobopio- 3 replies

I have put in a new Domain Controller (newDC) into our network but are having problems with the old Domain Controller (oldDC) replicating sysvol to newDC. The ultimate goal that I'm trying to achieve here is to be able to shut down oldDC and have newDC take over (eventually having oldDC only as a backup). As of right now, the issue lies when I shut down oldDC I start to run into problems with the active directory (such as not being able to edit any users info, it just hangs for a few seconds as if it's still trying to talk to oldDC). ---------------------- Event Viewer Logs: ---------------------- On newDC, I only get two errors (but I think the probl…
