solved --- No HEVC HWaccel support on Mac Pro 7,1
by Guest benmuetsch- 0 replies

Hi everyone, just picked up a 7,1 Mac Pro last weekend and spent the whole week to install everything in place, doing mainly audio work with the machine so this was more about plugins and DAW stuff. The previous owner had Sonoma up and running and I downgraded manually to macOS Monterey, most things went fine at first. What I first noticed was that my old 23" Cinema HD Display and the Radeon Pro 580X don't play well together, I had some graphical glitches and a white beam in the middle of... I'm using AMD RX Vega 56 nano edition. I changed from RX580 to it and have had a few glitches since the change. My Mac is Ventura 13.6.1 with OpenCore Legacy Patcher 1.2.1 (OpenCore 0.9.6). 1 - Sleep wake up problem When the Mac goes to sleep using any method and then wakes up(Front white LED is changing from slowly blinking to always on), the Mac is waking up but cannot display anything. At this time I assume that the Mac is frozen because no error sounds, etc. are made when I hit the... Read more Source: MacRumors

Mac Pro 5,1 only boots into Windows 10 (corrupt firmware?)
by Guest Mac.Apex- 0 replies

After successfully installing Windows 10 from DVD via Boot Camp on a Mac Pro 5,1, I tried to go back to the High Sierra partition, but the option key would not bring up the Startup Manager, and it booted directly into Windows. When I tried to change the startup disk in the Boot Camp Control Panel, I got the following message: "An error occurred while trying to change the startup disk. You may have not have privileges to change the startup disk. Make sure you have administrative privileges... Read more Source: MacRumors

Mac Pro 5.1 Boot Failure After Windows 11 Attempt
by Guest chodjo- 0 replies

Hello everyone, I've always been a silent observer on this forum, but unfortunately, my first post is a cry for help. I'm unsure about what's gone wrong with my cMP, and I desperately need assistance. To pursue my dream of a home studio, I bought a Mac Pro 5.1, upgraded the processors, expanded the RAM to 96GB, and added an RX580. It was a joy to use until I encountered issues trying to run Big Sur with my Firewire audio interface. I attempted OCLP, but it wouldn't boot with the card... Read more Source: MacRumors

KyroM.2 evo install issues on MP 5,1 2010
by Guest Kinklee- 0 replies

Hi MacRumors, I am hoping that someone can give me a bit of direction here. I recently purchased a 2nd hand KyroM.2 evo to use in my MacPro 5,1 2010. Its running Mojave 10.14.6 and its boot rom is 144.0.0.0.0. I have the card installed in slot 4 as I have an nVidia GeForce GTX 680 in slot 1 and 2. I have power going to the Kyro as evidenced by the orange LED's but there is no visibility on the System report. I have tried it without the NVME on the card but its still the same. Obviously as a... Open Core issues on 5,1 - Corrupted Installer
by Guest VAAdam- 0 replies

Not sure what happened, but I tried multiple USB drives, but no dice. Each time, I receive the following error when trying to create the installer: Corrupted Installer! Failed to validate installer, cannot continue. This can generally happen due to a faulty USB drive, as flashing is an intensive process that can trigger hardware faults not normally seen. STDERR: hdiutil: verify: unable to recognize "/Volumes/Install macOS Monterey/Install macOS... Read more Source: MacRumors
