by Guest coldt- 0 replies

dear All, after disabling iMessage (using the button in "Settings", iOS 16.7), it seems that iMessages sent to me by my contacts are not shown in any way by my iPhone (that is, they are not converted to SMS). What can I do???? I really don't want to lose these messages! Apple Support pointed me to Deregister and Turn Off iMessage - Apple Support but since I "Still have [my] iPhone", I don't think that the alternative steps will help me?! Best wishes! by Guest LouisMac90- 0 replies

I luckily managed to get a 15 Pro Max at the weekend instead of waiting for my order to arrive in November. Quick question on what’s everyone set there battery settings too as you now have a few different options on iOS17. 1. Optimised Battery Charging 2. 80% Limit 3. None I assume None is irrelevant but my 14 Pro went to 98% which no other iPhone since the 11 Pro Max has done within a year of use. Any help is much appreciated. Louis Continue reading...

Hi All, I hope some can help. I have a mac pro 4,1 upgraded to 5,1 firmware. Upgraded CPU's and RAM. Ive been using my MP in this configuration for a couple of years now and love this machine, its a beast even compared to some of todays hardware :) Just recently my child was using it to watch some youtube videos and was using cheap headphones on it and unfortunately the jack of the headphones snapped in the front port. iPhone XR - CNN and Wash Post apps draining battery in background
by Guest raylo32- 0 replies
This just started happening... my XR battery drains far faster than it ever has... and the "Battery" view in settings shows it is almost entirely due to CNN and Washington Post apps in background... 41% and 39% respectively. But... I have always had background refresh turned off on those and other news apps to try to avoid this very issue. And I NEVER had this problem until this week. Anyone have any ideas?? I have already tried forcing the apps to shutdown and restarting the XR... Read more Continue reading...

Steam, the popular gaming platform for Mac, Windows, and Linux, is great in that it offers a ton of really fun popular games, but it’s not without its annoyances. One of the most frustrating Steam annoyances are its popup ads on startup, or what it calls “Steam News”, that slowly launch in a new pop-up ... Read More Continue reading...

Screen Time settings not restoring from iCloud backup
by Guest fakenick- 0 replies
I bought an iPhone 15 Pro and transferred from my old device to set up my new phone. The transfer was successful but I noticed none of my screen time settings, including the password, app limits etc had been transferred over. Then all of my devices, a MacBook and the old phone all synced to the new phone and the screen time settings were erased on all of them. I've tried restoring both phones to older iCloud backups and despite them listing screen time being imported (See screenshot)... Read more Continue reading...

iPhone 15 Plus multiple faults
by Guest barstep- 0 replies
My days old iPhone 15 Plus developed three faults in what seemed like a production failure. 1. The main camera wouldn’t focus. (The wide angle camera was fine) 2. Landscape rotation failed. 3. After a Genius Bar visit their tests showed the accelerometer had also failed. The Genius Bar staff in Apple Leeds were very efficient. I was given a new phone in exchange. They told me the failed phone would be sent back to a department that investigates early failures. Has anyone else... Read more Continue reading...

Music Notifications on Lock Screen
by Guest klspahr- 0 replies
I use the always on setting on my iPhone 15 Pro Max with some widgets. What I hate is the music notifications that take up my Lock Screen. The Music app, Podcast app, and even HomeKit HomePod Mini will display something on my Lock Screen when they are playing. I don’t want to see that information, it blocks out my widgets! Any one know if you can turn that off? I’ve tried everything. Continue reading...

Hello there What are the first things to do when you received your new iPhone? Do you spend time checking screen colors, bezels uniformity, look for defect, color uniformity, built quality etc? What else would you recommend to make sure everything is OK? I’m looking for a checklist or any tips on the outside of the iPhone and the software (test phone call, wifi speed, camera…) Continue reading...

Iphone 15 Pro Max 512GB - Screen Burn in
by Guest IHaveNoInspiration- 0 replies

Hey guys, Just wanted to alert you to another screen burn in issue, got my 15 PM on September 22nd. This is how it looks on my screen at very dim levels, against a grey background. The local Apple reseller where I live claimed that Apple is aware and that it's due to a software bug and a new software is about to be released and as such they wouldn't take it as a warranty issues, asked me to wait for the coming software. Her general appearance and lack of eloquence together with my own... Read more Continue reading...

I have an iPhone, an iPad and MacBook on the same Apple account and I pay for extra iCloud space so I have 200GB on iCloud. For a long time I have been unable to automatically back up my iPhone to iCloud because between my two idevices I had used way over 200GB of space. I have since been through a deleting binge. iCloud+ says I'm using 199.6 GB of 200GB On the iPad I'm using a total of 45GB internal storage. On the iPhone I'm using a total of 66GB of internal storage. Not everything... Read more Continue reading...

AMD RX580 no display output, “No Kext Loaded”
by Guest Cwheels123- 0 replies

Hello, I have had a couple of threads but I have still had no luck with getting an AMD RX580 to work. Previously, I tried using an XFX AMD. This did not have any display output. I gave up with this card and bought a used Nitro Sapphire RX580. Still no output. I have reinstalled a fresh copy of high sierra, still nothing. On the systems report, you see that the AMD is not being picked up and has the kernel extension “No Kext Loaded”. NOTE: I had this report on both the nitro and XFX... Read more Source: MacRumors

Mac Pro 5,1 Vega 56 fan always on idle...
by Guest TKOS7- 0 replies

Hi, Recently purchase a Mac Pro 5,1 from FB marketplace. After a clean it works great. Its a dual 2.4ghz CPU version, and I plan to do some upgrades. I bought a GTX680 and that worked a treat, but didn't give me the GPU performance I needed to run the games I would like. I've just swapped it out for an MSI Vega 56, and while the GPU works fine, it seems to be running quite hot (50* on idle), and while the Mac Pro PCIE fan does speed up according to the load, it seems the actual fan on the... Mac Pro 5.1 SSD #1 High Sierra / Monterey SSD #2 Windows 10 OCLP 1.0.1 EFI (Macbook Air) Yes, I'm a loser I wanted to update to Sonoma and created the USB on my Macbook Air. I forgot in OCLP to select Mac Pro and created the USB for the Macvook Air. So I upgraded my Mac Pro with the efi for the Macbook Air. Yes I am stupid. Currently, the forbidden sign appears in the boot picker if I select High Sierra or Monterey, but if Windows 10 starts, it is fully operational. I booted into... Read more Source: MacRumors

Those with Adobe Creative Suite installed on their 2019 Mac Pro, can you give me you feedback on application launch times? I purchased my 7,1 in July 2020 and this problem has plagued me daily every since then. I am wondering if this is just normal on an Intel 12-core with 96Gig Ram and w5700x GPU and applications loaded on NVRAM internal RAID 0? by Guest bjolester- 0 replies

I have a 2010 cMP Westmare eightcore 2.4GHZ that runs OSX El Capitan. The Mac Pro is almost exclusively used to run Aperture 3.6 and perform photo editing (and storage). 1. Which OS post El Capitan can be used on my cMP in original condition (without modifying the graphic card and other hardware)? 2. Which OS is a best compromise for both the 2010 cMP 2.4GHZ and Aperture 3.6? I am grateful for any advice! Source: MacRumors
