Is there a way to detect/see what ECC/parity bit-flip errors occurred and were corrected on our Mac Pros?

From my understanding, with modern systems you could easily encounter one parity error a day. So, is there a way to detect/see what ECC/parity bit-flip errors occurred and were corrected on our Mac Pros? I would love it if there was an app, like in istat menus, or something that would keep stats of when I encounter a bit-flip error and when the Mac Pro corrects it. Is there some log or some app that does this? Thanks for any pointers! Source: MacRumors

Mac Pro 5,1 no longer showing display image
by Guest ssj92- 0 replies

I have the cMP 5,1 (specs in sig). It was working fine with macOS 12.4 this whole time. I have a Startech PCIe 2-NVMe adapter that had a 1TB SK Hynix & 512GB SM951 SSD. I took out the SM951 today to put into a different PC. After that the cMP no longer showed a boot screen. I can hear the chime. Things I tried: SMC reset NVRAM reset (3 times in a row) Put old GTX 980ti (macvidcards efi) & HDD with high sierra (removed all PCIe cards such as 6800XT, TB3 card, NVMe PCIe card) Tried... cMP 8,1: will you switch to Redfern or stick with Intel?
by Guest TECK- 0 replies
Based on un-official news, the new Mac Pro will feature a Redfern processor with a bridge that connects 2 M1 Ultra together. If Apple also offers a refreshed Intel 8,1, will you stick with it or go the Redfern route? I would personally prefer an Intel model, as it will offer more flexibility for long term upgrades and hopefully native Windows 11+ support. https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1502675792886697985 Source: MacRumors

Hello. This is my first post here. I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have an HP laptop computer that is 1 year old. It has Windows 10, 64 bit. I have an old iPhone 4 that is not connected to a service. I can't use it as a phone. However, I have been using it as a digital camera for many years now. I have been working on a project for several years now that requires me to shoot many photos and transfer them to my HP laptop computer for processing. I connect my iPhone 4 to my HP... Facebook tracking disabled but still clearly tracking my safari activity, how do I stop this!
by Guest MyRomeo- 0 replies

IPhone 11 Pro, iOS 15.6… So I’ve got tracking turned off by default and turned off for every app I use however I’ve noticed Facebook and Instagram show me ‘relevant’ adds based on recent safari browsing. I thought this was stopped with the privacy tracking feature? Have I misunderstood or are Facebook cheating the system here? https://forums.macrumors.com/data/attachments/1105/1105805-8d3c1aeddb37de0a2691af1beabc7929.jpg Continue reading...

Lost Texts?
by Guest blairh- 0 replies

Hello everyone. I went to Italy for a month. Used a local SIM the entire trip. Upon my return to the States I re-inserted my AT&T SIM. I feel like in the past the texts sent to me while in Italy would show up at this point. I had no new text messages. Today a friend reached out asking if I received the texts he sent me while I was away. Which of course I did not. Is this normal? In the future I'd really like to continue using a local SIM abroad but not miss messages sent to me while... Read more Continue reading...

iPhone 12 Pro Max stops making calls over cellular
by Guest Morac- 0 replies

I‘ve had my iPhone 12 Pro Max with AT&T for nearly 2 years and never had problems with calling until shortly after upgrading iOS iOS 15.6. I first noticed a problem where I couldn’t get voicemail, which I fixed using an automated AT&T tool. Lately though the problem I’m seeing if the phone will switch to Wi-Fi calling despite having 3 or 4 5G signal bars. Once that happens the phone will not switch back to cellular and calls stop working if I leave Wi-Fi. Today I noticed the phone on... Read more Continue reading...

How to Exit Recovery Mode on Mac
by Guest Paul Horowitz- 0 replies

Recovery Mode is typically used for troubleshooting a Mac, for reinstalling system software, erasing disks, and performing similar tasks. Perhaps you’ve used recovery mode before to troubleshoot something, or perhaps you’ve even entered recovery mode accidentally on a Mac before. Rarely, a Mac just boots automatically into Recovery Mode constantly as well. Whatever the case, ... Read More Continue reading...

by Guest paronga- 0 replies

Hi there! I’m looking to upgrade the gpu in my 2010 5,1 Mac Pro from the stock HD 5770 (I think it is). I’m looking at picking up a Sapphire Pulse RX570 8gb. This card has 2 x DP and 2 x HDMI. The card has 1 x 8 pin power connector. I think it used <180W of power. Will this be compatible with the max pro. I’m worried about the power consumption and whether this unit will fry the computer eventually or fit properly. Does anyone have experience with this unit or know if there are any... I'm trying to get my recently-updated-to-Mojave 2009 MP to go to the boot options screen so I can use the usb boot I made for Catalina per dosdude1's instructions, but holding Alt just results in a black screen that never changes and I have to power cycle the computer to get it to load to the normal desktop. I used MyBootMgr to install OpenCore and RefindPlus. RefindPlus and MyBootMgr appear to be made by the same person. I already have macOS High Sierra installed. So far, I have only "soft blessed" my RefindPlus installation, via MyBootMgr's BootBlesser.app. I want to install Linux openSUSE in a "multiboot" configuration. When I reboot my Mac Pro, and the "RefindPlus boot manager" main menu displays, I want Linux OpenSuse to be an option for one of the operating systems into which... Read more Source: MacRumors

Safari loading pages very slowly

I have an iPhone 13 Pro and I’m having noticeable lag when loading web pages on safari. Att is my carrier and it’s happening with full 5G and when on strong Wi-Fi connections. My wife’s 11 Pro max seems to be doing it as well. Pages would load in a couple seconds are now taking 7-10 seconds. The blue loading bar gets about 1/3rd of the way, then stops for 7-10 seconds and then finishes loading and the page I’m at trying to get to finally pops up. Any ideas? Continue reading...

Somehow ironic ;-) Tried activating both in the playlist on my Mac before sync, but did not catch. Thanks in advance for any pointers! Continue reading...
