TV notifications in iOS not showing
by Guest havoc2638- 0 replies

Hello Everyone, This one has been boggling my mind and I wanted to reach out for some help. Under settings, notifications. The TV app doesn’t appear. I can’t find anywhere in the tv app to turn on notifications and I tried under TV in the settings menu, but it only is giving access to Siri. I also did a DFU restore and set up as new. Still nothing. Any ideas on how to get iOS to allow TV notifications again? I also updated to 15.6 and nothing came of that as well :( Thank you! Continue reading...

Powered USB 3.0 Hub
by Guest Jigga Beef- 0 replies

I know like me there has to still be some of you out there who are rocking the traditional USB 3.0 Hubs vs the build-in hubs on your displays. For a few years I've been using this Satechi 7 Port-powered hub, I like the look of it but hate that the USB in and power adapter are on opposite sides making cord management on my desk a bit harder. I think I'll go with a USB 3,1 Gen 1 Hub next as I still use a few USB A ports on my desk but I want it to look good on top of the desk Anyone... Read more Source: MacRumors

I have an older mac pro desktop that I gave to my son. I think its a 2012 model that I did the OS hack upgrade to I think EL Capitan. My son was on it and hit the upgrade button not knowing it was a hack and now I just get a black screen of death on it. It also has an upgraded graphics card so you cant see the boot up screen to start in safe mode. Any help is appreciated. Source: MacRumors

Native Install Windows 10 on mac pro 1.1 / 2.1 without usb or dvd or bootcamp This is a long read. Also it is a solution for aggrieved Warcraft players who are compelled to buy expensive mac pro 5.1 and video card to play. With this solution you have all the tools you need to continue to play warcraft. Shame on Apple for expecting mac users to invest such outrageous hardware. You can download all your tools and provided you have a late model video card, there is no requirement... Read more Source: MacRumors

How to install any Mac OS - El Capitain or whatever - on a "bare metal" Mac Pro 4,1?
by Guest OldMacPro2- 0 replies

Ok, I am able to install High Sierra using the dosdude1 patcher. But reading on the forum I know I need to update the firmware in this Mac Pro 4,1 and try to get it to 5,1 level. According to what I've read, I need to boot into a "clean" Mac OS install not one that's been patched, to be successful in updating the firmware. I've tried to make bootable USB installs using the Apple Support instructions that are linked in several threads. How to create a bootable installer for macOS You can use an external drive or secondary volume as a startup disk from which to install the Mac operating system. support.apple.com But... 7,1 6900xt To LG 5K Ultrafine
by Guest infohou- 0 replies

Hello Folks, I did not find this exact situation when I searched. I have a 6900XT card coming hopefully on Thursday. It has two full size display port connectors and one HDMI. The LG monitor has only a Thunderbolt input connector. I am not finding an adapter that goes that direction. Or will the TBolt connectors on the supplied internal expansion card send the video via one of it's TBolt ports as is the case now with the MX Vega Pro II I have now? No Amazon links please. Thanks, Robert Source: MacRumors

Mac Pro 6,1 and modern 5k monitor
by Guest robertosh- 0 replies

Hi folks, I'm pursuing a nice offer for a mac pro 6,1 for 490 EUR: 4 core xeon (plan to update it with the 12c) and 32G RAM. My plan in near future would be to pair it with a DELL U4021QW, which has a resolution of 5120x2160. Do you think that the mac can run that monitor at 60hz? I've read that i would probably need to use the thunderbolt ports as the hdmi is only 1.4, but that does seem a problem. Monitor also have thunderbolt, but probably the one in the mac pro is way older.. Anyone... Read more Source: MacRumors

Mac pro 4.1 not booting after cpu upgrade
by Guest Microsoft Corporation- 0 replies

Hi guys, Ive got (what once was) a working mac pro 4.1 flashed to 5.1 and bought a pair of used x5690s on ebay. I wanted to upgrade the stock CPUs to the x5690s on my dual cpu mac pro. Im aware that these must be delidded to avoid thermal problems, however, prior to delidding i wanted to test them first. I read forums that using one cpu will boot up with the fans on full blast. None of this happened for my case, ive installed one of the x5690s on socket “a” with socket “b” empty. I get no... Read more Source: MacRumors

How to Always Show Window Title Proxy Icons on Mac
by Guest Paul Horowitz- 0 replies

The Mac Finder and apps like Preview offer window title icons when you hover over the window title text, and once defaulted to show icons in the window title bar too. Ok, A couple of days ago my early 2009 Mac Pro 4,1>5,1 froze on me while putzing around in Photoshop on a Windows 10 partition. I had to hard reset after the freeze. Upon reset, nothing happened at first. It just hung there on a black screen. Restarted again and successfully booted to select screen and on into Windows again. A short time in, it froze. Reset. Booted into MacOSX Mojave to see what is happening. Frozen again a few minutes in. Now I get nothing. No POST indication whatsoever... Read more Source: MacRumors

output HDMI w/ audio for macpro 3,1?
by Guest Dimbles- 0 replies

What solutions are you aware of that lets a macpro 2008 (3,1) output via HDMI with audio? Unfortunately with this model, getting a graphics card that has a HDMI or mini display port to HDMI can not carry audio. At the moment I connect my macpro to an HDTV from the DVI with a DVI to HDMI adaptor and the audio output to the amplifier. It'd be nice to just change the HDMI input on my tv to switch to my mac pro, rather than having to change the input on the tv AND amplifier. I know some HDMI... Read more Source: MacRumors
