The Mac Pro 3,1 that I recently acquired has been upgraded to High Sierra (dosdude1 patch). I happened to have a Radeon RX460 (2gb) laying around. This is the generic PC, non-Mac flashed, version. If I wanted to replace the Radeon HD 2600XT in the MP (or add the RX460) what would be the best way to go about it? Thank you in advance! Source: MacRumors

Hi folks, first post, hope you can help me. Our Mac Pro 3.0 A1186 (early 2008, eight core) which was turned off for a while during Covid, now simply does not turn on anymore. When pressing the power button, it makes a clicking sound, then 3-4 seconds later another one, and simply nothing happens. No fans spin up, no power light, nothing. I now have Monterey running successfully on one of my Mac Pros. I'm absolutely delighted with the performance but I have one rather annoying issue. If the machine has been been on for more than a few hours it won't shutdown. Initially it seems to shutdown as normal but then instantly reboots (without intervention). Successive shutdowns result in the same behaviour and a hard reset then becomes the only way to shutdown. I don't think I've ever seen this on a Mac before. Source: MacRumors

Today was maintenance day for my Mac pro 5.1 Stripped it down and took logic board out, cleaned the Board and replaced the SPI chip. Soldered a new chip on the logic board with a rebuilt Rom provided by Tsialex. I had already been running the new rom but this was my last mac to replace the SPI chip on. Hi all - I want to stop iCloud backup of my photos, and started by changing those settings on my iPhone (and clicked keep photos on iPhone). But there's still a big backup in iCloud that's hogging a lot of space; when I go to delete it, it warns that it will remove photos from my iPhone also. I'm guessing this is wrong - that it only deletes the photos from the iPhone if the photos backup is turned on. But I wanted to check before going ahead. Many thanks in advance! Continue reading...

When I turn off my iPhone's WIFI, it says "Disconnecting WIFI devices until tomorrow" and it turns back on automatically the day after. I want to disable this auto-connection. I've searched the internet and it was said that I should turn off auto connect but I couldn't find it in the settings. I turned off "auto-join" but the problem is my phone doesn't connect from that wifi Icon on top of the phone and I have to go to the settings if I want to connect to the wifi again. Hello! Can someone here (I’m based in London) help me install Opencore with a working version of Monterey/Big Sur and a Windows (Whichever is stable) on my desktop (remotely/in person). Before anyone says anything, I have tried every recommended process on this forum including Martin Lo’s version without much luck. I have an iPhone 12 Mini, When I send a message to one contact it appears to send. A couple of minutes later I receive a notification. MacPro 5,1 OpenCore 0.79 Radeon RX 560 video card Updated to MacOS 12.4 today. Had/have issues where my internal SSD’s aren’t showing. Initially just shutdown, unplugged power for 60 seconds and then restarted. Drives showed up initially after that. However, upon a second restart, no drives. Decided to do a deep NVRAM reset. Has anyone ever had a problem creating a backup / deleting an old one? I want to migrate data from XR to 13 Pro Max, but quick start is not going and I think I found the cause. There are 2 photos on my iPhone that seem to be stuck in a permanent state of limbo. These photos were taken in 2017 on a previous iPhone. Most likely they were deleted shortly after they were taken, but in any case I deleted all of my photos and verified that the photo library was empty before doing the data transfer to my current iPhone. In the past with the 5,1 cMP, we could just swap out the Airport card for essentially a newer card, and everything automagically worked to upgrade our WiFi. I transferred two movie files from my iPhone 6S to computer. Now I cannot open them. I have tried various converting programs with no luck. I tried changing to mp4 an mov extensions but again no luck. Is there a way I can put them back on my iPhone, I don't remember what the file extension was when I moved them. My iPhone 6s suddenly failed so my dear wife ran out and bought me an Xr. Although the 6s was a better size for me, I'm happy with the Xr. I have the final generation Airport Extreme with a 5GB drive that I use for music and movies. That drive works over WiFi to serve music to both iMacs, the Sonos ARC, and our Apple TV 4k (2nd Gen) running Infuse. Music on the iPhone can't see the Airport library, I can only Homeshare to my office computer, which for some reason only shows up as an outdated library missing a lot of songs. Hello, This Mac Pro 3,1 arrived today. It’s very much a base model. No too sure about previous owners. It’s currently undergoing an update to El Capitan, which seems to be the last official version supported. It has a RAID controller, but apparently only one drive attached to it, a 500 GB HD. So, I just got my XDR glossy Display today (was the right choice!) and I can report back that all the Adobe apps that previously on my DELL 5k displays weren't running great, are running even worse on that bigger canvas. They really just seem unable to push big amounts of pixels around. I didn't think that it could get worse than on the 5ks, but here we go.
