Hi, I will share some benchmarking done running the Radeon VII on my Mac Pro 5,1. It has the pixlas mod (PCIe power breakout cable from the PSU mobo-connector) done on it, so I have no power issues. I tested it with the Vega 10 driver, and the Vega 12 driver which resulted in freezes. The Vega 12 driver only activates 20 compute units, while the Vega 10 driver will utilise the full 60. I recently purchased a 2013 6,1 with 6-core Xeon, 32GB memory, and dual D700s. I just installed a 2TB Sabrant Rocket (from an old project) and get R/W speeds of 1400. My questions are: 1) what cables to use to connect dual monitors? I am thinking DisplayPort to TB2 cables. Will I get 60Hz? 2) Is anyone using a fan under the device to cool it off? I learned something today: Any mail client on iOS that supports being the default mail client may not support all of the features of the Apple Mail client. I've tried other default email clients on iOS and I've deleted the Apple Mail app. When I go to a contact in the Phone app and press the "Mail" button when the contact has a valid email address, I will get a dialog box asking if I want to download and install the Apple Mail app. I did not know that that dialog box is a function of the... Hi, I am trying to transfer my voice memos to my MacBook-- into normal files in a format like .mp3, or whatever; Something useable in a normal OS anyway, and with the possibility to add to an external HD etc. I can only access the files within Music (iTunes), and can't seem to extract them out from there. Hi everyone! I'm currently using an iphone 13 on ios 15.5 and I have a bug related to live photos. When I take a photo and the sky is involved sometimes it flashes for a frame I think. Hello I just bought a sapphire nitro rx580 8gb and I installed it on my 2010 mac pro and I'm having an issue where windows does not display a picture on my monitor. It reads on mac os but not on windows. I even changed the start up boot to boot camp windows. And nothing shows up. I have an iPhone SE1 and I just replaced the battery in it. After I put it back together, the left edge of the screen stopped responding to tapping, such as trying to open the phone app or type Q/A/left shift on the keyboard, anything on the left edge. Here's the strange part. It will respond to dragging. I can scroll up and down from the left edge, and if I drag down from A on the keyboard, it will register the letter A. So now my Mac Pro 5,1 has been upgraded with an RX560 graphic card. I think when you charge only to 80% the battery will drain faster and you need to charge more in a year, compared to that you charge to 100%. In both cases, the battery will degrade no matter what. Was there any actual real-life experience or computer simulation comparing both cases which reached a conclusion that we should charge between 20% to 80%, rather than 100% fully? Continue reading...

Hello, I have a strange problem with my MP5,1 2010 Dual. I had Big Sur 11.6 running flawlessly with Martin Lo's Open Core package. When installing the 11.6.6 (full installer from USB or running from logged in user) everything goes well but after install, I have to set up Big Sur from scratch. All my users and apps are gone, it's like a complete fresh install. But under "SSD/Previous Content/" there is the complete old content from my SSD. Asking this for my mom (I can't figure it out either)...three related problems: 1) If she logs into appleid.com, when she logs in, it shows 503 Service temporarily unavailable. It's been doing this for 2 days. iPhone 13 Pro Max on AT&T. This issue has been ongoing and I've contacted AT&T twice and they say they do something on the backend, but not specifically what. The problem is my iPhone doesn't ring most of the time. If I have my phone sitting next to me, I can see the incoming call banner at the top but within a second it goes to "Call Ended". Gents, we live to fight another day - not even a tease of the Apple Silicon Mac Pro at WWDC 2022. We're still the latest and greatest Mac Pro! Very interesting they didn't mention it - would make sense as its the "top" dog especially concerning developers if you would push the hardware to the max.
