Yes I know you cant boot a mac pro 5,1 from a usb3 pcie card .... but I was thinking .... If you installed a suitably written open core partition on an internal drive, couldn't that be used to activate the usb3/usbc pcie card in the slot so that an attached system was bootable ? just thinking Source: MacRumors

My dual 3.46ghz MP 5,1 (genuine 5,1) running 12.2 Monterey with Martin Lo’s 0.7.9 package as of yesterday morning did a crash on start up with the black screen message in multiple languages. (Kernel panic?) I thought nothing of it and the computer restarted normally and I used it normally with no hint of problems, then shut it down end of day. Nothing unusual. I remember when Monterey was first released, people noted it was crashy on the Mac Pro 6,1. Now that its been out for some time longer, is there any consensus on it? I don't **have** to upgrade now, but I'm getting pushed to it because I need to soon move to the latest Xcode. I have a 5,1 that was having issues that i still haven’t been able to figure out. I decided to buy a replacement backplane since all of my other components were tested and deemed fine. I installed the backplane last night and now the tower will power on but doesn’t chime or boot. I have tried multiple GPU, and CPU trays, a dual 5690 tray and a single 5690 tray, both from a 5,1. the diagnostic led’s look fine besides the GPUOK light blinking which i’ve read could indicate a cpu error. Is it feasible to consider installing 10Gb/s ethernet PCI card in my MP 2010 5,1 (upgraded 6 to 12 core 3.33 ghz, High Sierra, 32gb RAM) so I can keep using it for some older apps as well as connect it to a new M1 Mac Studio as a HDD enclosure (couple of internal drives are in Raid 0)? Hello lads, I have recently installed on my Mac Pro 5.1 mid 2010, a Shappire Rx 580 8gb gpu, but I have a problem with the fans always running and high temperatures 73 degrees 75 even 79 I didn't have this problem with the ati 5770 even though the video resolution was lower with the 32 inch 3840x2160 monitor With the Shappire rx 580 I'm taking full advantage of the resolution I would not want it to be the HDMI cable instead of the Dpi How can I solve? I am doing mainly programming and webdesign work. Also some grafic stuff and photoshop. I am dealing with mainy smaller files all day long. I know the MacPro would be an overkill but I want to keep all my drives in the case and I want a Mac that also lasts for another 8-10 years as my 5,1 did. This evening, I was watching a video on my phone, and it bugged out in a way I’ve never seen before. I got this for free. Using it as a phone doesn't work, there was some problem, I have tried several times. However, I'm not interested in using it as a phone. I do have the USB cable, and I've noticed that I can even export photos to computers without MacOS, which is pretty cool. I haven't tried the sound recording thing to see if I can export this as well. But basically I would be interested in using it as an mp3 player without going through iTunes. Hi to all i recently bought 13 pm and wanted to buy a 27w supported adapter. Bought the spigen powerarc arcstation pro but the charging time is way off from what i seen on youtube tests its been 2 hours and i plugged in at 22 percent and now its at 98 , i think its fast charging because at first it was good but after 90 it goes waaaayy slower (i know after certain value it goes to slow charging ) but still its way too slow.i never used the phone while its charging should i buy original... The PCIe fan on one of my 4,1>5,1 Mac Pros is always at 0 RPM Its running proxmox and the PCIe slots are full. It doesn’t have Mac OS installed at all so I can’t use Mac Fan Control. Is there anyway for me fo force that fan to run from a firmware command or something? Source: MacRumors

I upgraded to Big Sur from Catalina and hated it. I decided to roll back to Catalina using Time Machine. Logged into Time Machine through Command - R startup, selected a backup with Catalina and proceeded with the install. Hi, my Windows 10 PC doesn't recognize my iPhone (or any other iPhone) for photo import. I connect my iPhone using an original Apple cable (even tried with other cables). In the "My PC" page on the file explorer app iPhone is recognized as connected device, but inside that path there is no folders. iPhone seems completely empty.
