I bought my wife an iPhone 13 Pro Max now Apple taunt me daily
by Guest troutstudio- 0 replies

I purchased a new 13 Pro Max for my wife. Despite the fact that it's been setup for a month with her own Apple ID and email, every time I open Settings on my iPhone (up to date 11 Pro) I'm reminded that I need to set up my new iPhone. The response from a brief chat session was "backup/erase/restore your phone". Who's to say this will work? Bah humbug! Continue reading...

Screentime...
by Guest jimmybond- 0 replies
So I'm on here as Apple support themselves are telling me two different things. I have my 14 year and 16 year old as part of family. My 14 year old has screentime which I set and she cannot disable (it asks for the password which only I know). However the 16 year old somehow can. is there is a difference between the functionality of screentime between a 14 and 16 year old or have I a) set the 16 year olds up wrong or b) they can both disable it and my 14 year old just hasnt worked out how... MP6,1 Hardware Diagnostic Tool
by Guest vett93- 0 replies
Can someone point me to where I can find a low-level hardware diagnostic tool for MP6,1? I was told that it was shared in this forum but I cannot find it. My Mac Pro randomly ejects USB devices (drives, webcam, mic, etc.). I have used the Apple Diagnostics and it shows everything is fine. I was told that there is a more in-depth diagnostic tool. Current MacPro still a viable option IMHO

I have just read a review of a 3D/video PC workstation, listed for approx £4000. While reading I thought how does this compare to the 2019MP, in regards to upgrades etc. WELL.....the more I read, the less impressive it was....... Specs: AMD Ryzen9 16core, RTX3080Ti, 64gb Ram, 1TB Nvme. Sounds like a nice spec, BUT the upgrade options are pitiful. It says ram upgradeable to a 'WHOPPING' 128gb (the articles words).....I had to chuckle. There are no Thunderbolt ports. It only has an 850w... Read more Source: MacRumors

iPhone screen clicks & smudging effect when press corners of phone
by Guest Cloudy22- 0 replies

Hello, I bought a refurbished iPhone SE (1st Gen) online (from a company which sells refurbished phones) as a gift for someone who particularly wanted this phone for the size and light weight. Yes I know it is an old phone and will soon be unsupported but they will mostly be using it for calls and some photos, and the size & weight of the phone was the major priority. Anyway it has arrived and I noticed when I press on the corners of the phone it makes a clicking sound and moves very... Read more Continue reading...

New iPhone 11 getting battery recalibration message
by Guest jntdroid- 0 replies
Technically not brand new - it's about 1 month old. Bought factory unlocked from Apple. I haven't even used it as my daily driver the entire time. I'm a little concerned I'm seeing these messages on what is essentially a brand new device. When I go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health, this is what the page says (should I be concerned?): Important Battery Message Your battery health reporting system is recalibrating Maximum Capacity and Peak Performance Capability. This... Read more Continue reading...

finally got a 7,1 w/5700x MPX + SSD7101-a1. so far I have 2x2TB saberent drives installed. Every time I attempt to boot a windows installer via USB it shows the windows flag for about 15 -20 seconds (no spinning dots), then a blank screen. Im thinking windows does not have the graphics driver. I wanted to ask if anyone else has had any trouble running the windows installer with this configuration. perhaps its my image but I use it often on a lot of computers just fine. I have turned off... How to connect Apple Mini DisplayPort Cinema Display to Thunderbolt port on Mac Pro 2013?
by Guest timidhermit- 0 replies

I have an old Apple LED Cinema Display that has a Mini DisplayPort cable to connect to a Mac. I am in mid of getting a great deal on an used Apple Mac Pro 2013 (trashcan model) which has Thunderbolt 2 ports. Can you simply plug the Mini DisplayPort cable from my Cinema Display directly to the Thunderbolt 2 port on the Mac Pro 2013 without an adapter? Will you get both video (including iSight) and audio? Will this work for a dual display setup using TWO Cinema Display with Mini DisplayPort... Read more Source: MacRumors

12- core cpu upgrade fail
by Guest acurtis- 0 replies

Hi all. been searching the threads for a little help here. I have a Mac Pro 6,1 Late 2013, Trashcan, It was running Catalina with 6-core CPU, 1tb SSD from owc, 128gb of memory and the dual AMD Firepro d700s. I thought i would give it a little more beef with purchasing the 12-core cpu off OWC. Install went smoothly but I turned on the computer and the fan was going full blast, huge kernel task load using up all of the CPU and it was very sluggish. I didn't reset my PRAM stupidly, and... Why does the MacPro cylinder housing have this weird rectangular marking?
by Guest timidhermit- 0 replies
I am in mid of purchasing an used Mac Pro 2013. The Mac Pro has been well kept (at least what I think) by the original owner. However, I notice something very odd about the MacPro's cylinder housing. There is a thin rectangular area near the top of the housing for which the shining finish is dulled. Please see photos. Note in the photos a piece of yellow felt is covering the top of the cylinder to minimize light reflection in order to see this bizarre mark They are very difficult to capture... I've got a "dead" 2013 I'm trying to bring back to life. It doesn't respond to power button. On the board I have the red light for the interconnect issue. If I press DIAG I get the 11v light but nothing else. Has anyone else dealt with this issue before and might have some advice? Source: MacRumors

Hi all! I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max I got at launch. On 15.3 beta (but this has been happening even on stock 15.2 and prior.) I will open my phone and see I had texts and I never heard my text tone NOR any vibration. Sometimes the phone is even in my hands and I feel/hear nothing. Seems to be related to Messages only. If my phone screen is on/unlocked I get vibration AND sound. Other apps notify with sound, etc... I removed wrist detection from my watch... my watch remains on the charger... Recommended Wifi/BTLE card for cMP 5,1 to enable Apple Watch unlock?
by Guest EightBitWhit- 0 replies

Greetings, I'm wanting to take advantage of auto-unlock with my Apple watch on my cMP 5,1 (running Mojave 10.14.1) and it *SEEMS* like it should be possible based on what I'm piecing together from multiple resources, but it looks like job #1 is to upgrade wifi/bluetooth to support (amongst other things) BTLE and the "Auto Unlock" (WiFi) feature. Based on the Apple support article - Unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch - it looks like all of this is provided natively via an... Read more Source: MacRumors

The computer is on standby and usually the after touching the wireless mouse / trackpad would wake and take me to the login screen but few days ago failed to do so, infact the screen would stay on standby until i restarted and it went into the refindplus (only did this twice and didn't see refindplus again) but after selecting my native Mojave hard drive, it would go back into standby. I've been trying to figure out why this keeps happening until this morning when i plugged in the DP cable... Read more Source: MacRumors

Need Mac Pro 2009 - 2012 PSU Pin out
by Guest DrBobF- 0 replies
Greetings - I'm trouble shooting a 2009 Mac Pro for a no power up problem. The apple custom 980Watt delta power supply pinout is proprietary but the major power rail positions are evident. ( +12/ GND... GND/ +!2 ) The center group of smaller pins have two conductors that when shorted together will power on the PSU, which is, I think, the " power on" signal, normally supplied by the mother board. In the process of load testing the PSU on the bench to check the current spec. Does anyone... Read more Source: MacRumors

I have a 5,1 (original owner) that has been running fine for a long period of time. Most recent change was the addition of RocketU 1344D about 3 months ago. Recently it would boot intermittently, started maybe every other boot, reset with the power button, over time it became worse and then did not boot. Started by replacing the graphics card with the original ATI 5770, same result. Noticed outmp cpu a/b both flashed when the power cord was connected and removed. Diag button pressed show 5v... Problem about GPS
by Guest bj097- 0 replies

I have been searching and exploring this issue for long time on the web but I can hardly find any concrete answer. I really wish someone experienced in this area will give me a convincing answer On Google it's said accuracy of GPS could be up to 2m (20cm) or 3m (30cm) but some said it could be up to 20m or 50m. Some said the GPS could just spot your body exactly. It's really confusing. 2m, 3m and 50m are very different. I know that GPS on iPhone is improving over years. However, the... Help! 5,1 won't start, repeated chiming on power up.
by Guest macagain- 0 replies

My 5,1 was freezing every few seconds on video, so I figured I'd restart it. But after hitting restart, it won't start back up... stuck on the "chiming" phase: one loud (normal) chime, followed up a soft chime every 3 seconds. Reading that it might be RAM, I removed all the DIMMS and just tried 2 pieces at a time, but none of them worked. Sometimes I get a gray screen, sometimes black. Have also tried to do a PRAM reset but to no avail. Also did SMC reset. Any ideas for trouble shooting... Read more Source: MacRumors
