Using a USB Bluetooth dongle with MacPro5,1 and Big Sur
by Guest star-affinity- 0 replies

I have some trouble using my USB dongle for Bluetooth 4.0 since the older built-in Bluetooth is taking precedence. It is possible to change the Bluetooth module being used via an old Apple developer tool called ”Bluetooth Explorer.app”, but this doesn't stick between restarts – things get reverted back to the built-in Bluetooth. I've also tried this command in the Terminal (I have SIP disabled): Code: sudo nvram bluetoothHostControllerSwitchBehavior=always But it doesn't seem to work... Read more Source: MacRumors

PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD in ASM2824/PLX8747 (like a Sonnet M.2 4x4) speed?

Has any tried a PCIe 4.0 SSD in a ASM2824 / PLX8747 in a 7,1 with a PCIe 4.0 SSD? In the Mac Pro 3,1-5,1, they enable the ability to address more lanes and thus go beyond PCIe 2.0 speeds. Does this apply to the Mac Pro 2019s? Source: MacRumors

Mac Pro 2013 Monitor Question
by Guest Pezimak- 0 replies

Hi, I have a Huawei MateView 28.2" monitor, it has an aspect ratio of 3:2 with a resolution of 3840 X 2560. It has a full function USB C port and a HDMI 2.0 port which I think is limited to 50HZ, it's a 60HZ monitor, and a Mini Display Port DP 1.2. Can the 2013 Mac Pro cylinder machine with the dual D700 GPU's run the monitor at it's native resolution and 60HZ? And If it can do it over USB C from it's Thunderbolt 2 Ports will it also provide sound over that same connection to the monitors... Read more Source: MacRumors

by Guest ronniejoe- 0 replies

Hi. I have an old iphone SE that i been using for many years. Earlier I dropped it on the floor without the case. The case I use is those back covering cases so it doesn't give much protection like those otterboxes but i never like those because those cover the whole iphone. I then noticed it showed no sim on it. I do not have that thing to open the sim card slot and could not find a paper clip. But I did find one of those key rings that are made of like the same as those paper... Read more Continue reading...

by Guest skyblueair- 0 replies

Hi everyone, I've been wondering, trying to figure out, read posts and watch videos if there is a way to alphabetically arrange your photo albums in your iphone? Im constantly adding photos to my past albums because I use them for my projects at work which spans for a couple years. The old albums that Im still referring to gets burried with new albums im coming up with. It's such a hassle to select photos to organize and to spend MINUTES trying to find where the right album to put it in is... Read more Continue reading...

Would you buy a 2019 Mac Pro now?
by Guest Roopster- 0 replies

I need to buy a new Mac for my music studio. I’ve been on a 2016 MacBook Pro since that was released. I bought a 16 core Mac Pro from the refurbished store before they announced the new MacBook Pro’s. It has a 1TB drive and I picked some used 8gb RAM sticks on eBay from people upgrading theirs to have 96gb memory. Was going to buy two additional SSD’s to install, one for samples & one for as the audio file disk. Then the new laptops came out and I feel I’ve bought a (very capable, but... Mac Pro 6,1 (2013) - fan runs at 100%
by Guest Spacedust- 0 replies

I’ve started Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon under Windows 8.1 and after a few seconds fans went to the max, but it was still working. Then suddenly screen went black. Post reboot everything was back to normal but fan was running at 100%. Nothing is overheating CPU, GPU's or SSD's. I can still control the fan with Macs Fan Control, but on auto it always goes to 100%. Apple diagnostic shows PPN001 and PFM006 – issues with SMC and power management system. I’ve tried NVRAM RAM reset and unplugging... Read more Source: MacRumors

iPhone 13 Pro Data hangs when on WiFi
by Guest Jaredk8- 0 replies

I’m finding that network requests occasionally hang and I have to turn WiFi off and on again to get data to start flowing again. This happens in multiple apps (including Safari) and on multiple different networks. I have restarted the phone since the problem started. I didn’t have the issue on my previous phone, an iPhone 6S Plus, which was on iOS 14. Curious to hear from anyone having similar issues or who might have solutions. Continue reading...

iCloud storage for messages wont update, taking up space
by Guest Libertas- 0 replies

I have gone into: settings, my name, then to iCloud where I see manage storage and for messages it says 21.6 GB, but I have deleted all but about 1 GB of messages. I have gone into iCloud using a laptop but there is no "messages" there so nothing I can look at. I called Apple and they wanted to do a complete restore of the phone and I dont want to do that unless absolutely necessary. I have removed most of the "top conversations" but more than that I have gone into the messages app and... Read more Continue reading...

by Guest snowboardjoe- 0 replies

Transferring data from iPhone X to 13 Pro. It seemed to start ok, but I now have the following issues: X is showing "Transferring Data to "iPhone 13 Pro" on lock screen. It seems everything was transferred over to 13 Pro as apps and authentication works. I have no cell service on 13 Pro. When I go to unlock the X, it just goes to a screen that says, "Transferring Data" and that it will take 1 minute. It's ben like this for about an hour now. The only option on the screen is... AirOut: A solution to the racing fan bug
by Guest cdf- 0 replies
Introduction The racing fan bug is a well known issue that affects certain cMP systems with upgraded video cards, particularly systems with SMC version 1.39f5. On these systems the PCI, PS, and booster fans spin abnormally fast at idle, causing unnecessary noise. Although the issue appears to be related to PCI power draw and the SMC, the exact cause remains unknown. With many users upgrading their video cards for Metal support, the fan bug is undoubtedly claiming more and more... Read more Source: MacRumors

iPhone 13 Pro making static/buzzing sound from screen and camera
by Guest Pandyone- 0 replies
I noticed that in a fairly quiet room, the screen (or the processor?) makes a buzzing/static sound. The same goes for the camera; if I hold it close to my ear and have the camera on, I can hear how something makes a sound. This could be the sensor shifting, but the other sound when something is being processed on the screen. Is this normal and happens on your 13 Pro too? Continue reading...

Every time I play a podcast, it’ll repeat itself right after it’s finished. Before I start work I select about 8 podcasts I want to listen to using the phones play next feature. After the first one is finished, instead of moving down the list, it’ll replay the original one I started with. Can’t for the life of me figure this out. Anyone else have this problem or know a solution? Continue reading...

Bluetooth USB dongle for 5.1 with Big Sur
by Guest ferranrobuste- 0 replies

Hello, I have a Mac pro 5.1 with Opencore 0.7.0 and Big Sur. The wifi works fine, but the bluetooth does not, since I have the original internal bluetooth card, which does not support BT 4.0. I would like to be able to use the Bluetooth for Airdrop. Is there a Bluetooth USB Dongle with Airdrop support that works in a 5.1 with Big Sur? I know I could update the internal card, but for now I would like to try an easier option. Could anyone recommend a bluetooth USB Dongle that supports Airdrop... Read more Source: MacRumors

Booting Mojave and Windows 10 on a Mac Pro 5,1 with NVMe drives - some questions
by Guest James Murray- 0 replies

I have a 2009 Mac Pro that I've upgraded to 5,1, a Radeon RX 580 video card and a 3.06 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon processor. I installed Mojave and Windows 10 on it (both on separate SATA SSD HDs). So far, I'm pretty happy with it but the startup is very slow and it takes a very long time to switch between windows and mac os. I lost the boot screen with my video card upgrade so I have to start the computer completely and use the little bootcamp app after it starts to switch to the OS I want... Read more Source: MacRumors

Old Safari iCloud tabs stuck
by Guest infinitejest- 0 replies

Does anyone else have the issue that old Safari tabs that have been closed already still show up in Safari? For example, on my iPhone I still see tabs from my MacBook that I closed weeks ago. Between them are the tabs are actually still open. But even when I close them on my iPhone, they show up again either immediately or some hours later. That's so weird. This issue started several months ago and I have updated macOS / Safari / iOS in the meantime but nothing helps. Anyone knows any... Read more Source: MacRumors

I uploaded it to youtube directly from the phone, and no hdr is detected on playback on the tv's youtube app ( hdr compatible tv) I transfer the file to my Windows computer, and when viewed in VLC the codec info appears to be BT.709 I saw a comment where someone said this is due to using windows, and... iPhone 7 Plus losing a lot of charge when turned off
by Guest EugW- 0 replies

I have three phones not being used much right now after I upgraded: iPhone SE (original), iPhone 6s, and iPhone 7 Plus. If I charge them to say 75% and leave them off for a couple of weeks, the SE and 6s still have lots of charge. However, the 7 Plus has way less. Maybe less than 20%. Battery health is 88% for the 7 Plus. For the SE and 6s they're at 92% and 93% respectively. Have you guys and gals encountered similar behaviour? Source: MacRumors

Looking to sell my old iPhone, is a factory reset all I really need to do?
by Guest Thehawkwholived- 0 replies

Never sold a phone before and people say I’m wasting my money by just keeping them in a draw (I still have my original iPhone from 2008). Long story short, I’m a CPA so I have texts, photos, documents, etc.. that shouldn’t be seen by anyone but me on my phone. How do I make sure this information can NEVER be seen by anyone else who I sell it to? Is it really as simple as just clicking erase all content and settings and handing it over? I keep reading that there are programs out there... Read more Source: MacRumors

I just got my iPhone 13 via AT&T and will be trading in my iPhone 8. If I activate my new phone but want to keep my old phone still active just in case for say a week how can you have two phones active on the same line? I'm with AT&T I'm assuming the old phone will only work on Wi-Fi once the new phone is active? Source: MacRumors

"Documents & Sync" - 80% of my iPhone Cellular usage!?
by Guest JohnOCFII- 0 replies

Over the past year, my cellular usage has been rising unexpectedly. When I investigate, I find most of it in the area of "System Services --> Documents & Sync." This month, when I've turned off almost everything that uses Cellular service, it is 80% of my cellular usage! Is there any way to determine what makes up that category of usage? Currently running iOS 14.2 on iPhone 12 mini, previously on iPhone 8, but has been on all released iOS versions in the last year (I've not run Beta iOS... Read more Source: MacRumors

Hi All!! So since Thursday, i have been having a number of really odd issues with my iPhone 12, which i purchased back on July 20th. Mainly, they have been centered on a connectivity issue when i am on a mobile signal, the iPhone often refuses to load websites, or apps say that they don't have conncetion. Oddly, my mobile signal is not changing, it just refuses to load the websites or apps a couple times, with me having to either close the app or open the website a couple time. All my...
