Hello, I wonder if anyone is experiencing this same issue with low volume notifications with all volumes turned up to max. I have ringer and alerts turned up all the way in settings, and still, my notifications come out very low - Ringtone is loud, no issue with the ringtones - It's just the stock notification alerts. Anyone else experiencing this on the 13 series? It's really annoying because it's like half the volume of the ringer tone and sometimes hard to hear. Check it out yourselves... Confused by DND
by Guest Graham4723- 0 replies

iOS 14.8.1 on iPhone 12 mini. Turned on DND on my phone with a ‘scheduled’ “23:30 to 07:30”. although I set this up at about 10:00 today, WHY am I getting a notification that notifications will be silent until 07:30 tomorrow? Surely DND should not be activated until 23:30 tonight ? Source: MacRumors

iPhone 13 Pro volume button makes loud clicking sound
by Guest cezinho- 0 replies

The ‘volume up’ button in my new iPhone 13 Pro makes a distinctive metal-on-metal, louder-than-normal clicking sound, as if it was missing a rubber component. The ‘volume down’ button is OK and sounds much more muted. Has anyone else noticed this problem? It seems the hardware has a manufacturing defect. Source: MacRumors

Hello, I recently upgraded to the 13PM. I have always backed up my iphones only to Icloud. I also have an M1 Macbook Air. Is it recommended to also backup to my MBA using Finder and then store that backup onto an ext. HD? Thanks for any input! Source: MacRumors

How to securely erase iPhone 7
by Guest Dan72- 0 replies

Newbie after some advice. After upgrading to an iPhone 13 Pro Max and giving my daughter my 11 Pro Max, I’m selling her iPhone 7 (mine before I upgraded to the 11). The iPhone 7 is 4 years old, purchased from new and has iOS 15.1. I used the erase function before passing to my daughter and recently, erased it twice. However, using the free Stellar data recovery software, I’m able to see, as far as I can tell, all the images the phone has stored in Photos, phone contacts and iMessage. In... Apple store service: using gum or clay to remove dust from iPhone?
by Guest replay35- 0 replies
Hi there, I just came back from the Apple Store. My iPhone 12 was full of dust, did not charge anymore and even the headset when I called sounded like i was talking to someone down in a submarine. They offered to clean the dust, and I agreed. So he did it in front of me, it was some sort of clay/gum they use, and it will take of all the dust. Does someone knows what it is? Where can you buy this? I googled, but could not find anything. Thank you, Nina Source: MacRumors

Modify retail Intel 10GbE NICs to use Small Tree macOS Drivers
by Guest Squuiid- 0 replies

FOLKS, THIS WILL WRITE TO THE CARD EEPROM AND INCORRECT USAGE COULD RENDER YOUR CARD USELESS. THESE STEPS ARE SPECIFIC TO MY INTEL X520-DA2 10GbE CARD ONLY. HOWEVER, WITH SOME WORK THEY CAN BE ADAPTED TO WORK ON MOST INTEL NETWORK CARDS, BOTH 1GbE and 10GbE. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. Intel's own network driver page states: Intel adapters from Small Tree Communications are uniquely designed and validated on Apple platforms with OS X* drivers. Software and drivers for Mac OS X* for... Read more Continue reading...

Mac Pro (Late 2013) GPU (Driver) Issues
by Guest bax2003- 0 replies

I want to share my experience with you. My MP arrived few days ago with OS X Yosemite 10.10 on it, and just after setting it up and connecting to network, I installed 10.10.2 update from AppStore and after that Mac Pro has locked up a few times. It was completely random and what happens is GUI just stops responding, and only thing you can do is move cursor around. Sometimes cursor changes in beach ball, other times no, but either way GUI does not respond and you must force shut down....This... Read more Continue reading...

Mac Pro 4.1 Tech Manual Trouble Shooting When should you get a GPU and EFI diag light
by Guest MikeDavies99- 0 replies

Hey all Mac Pro 4.1. Trying to follow the minimum config testing from the Apple Tech manual. The power light comes on, fans spin but no boot, no chime. The power button if pressed will put it sleep like normal and if pressed again the light goes back on steady. It sat for 3 months after working fine. Replaced the Battery as it was low. On page 35 it says, with all drives, video ect removed and the processor cage installed, after pushing the power button, when you push the Diag Button you... Read more Continue reading...

Nvidia GTX 680 Mac Edition, Catalina & LED Cinema Display
by Guest rk25123- 0 replies

Hello, Since Catalina disables the Displayport of the Nvidia GTX 680 Mac Edition, I bought an HDMI to Displayport adapter and a DVI to HDMI adapter for my second monitor, hoping to solve the problem. While the DVI to HDMI adapter works without problems, I'm not getting any image on the LED Cinema Display. Strange thing is that the monitor (which works normally with my MacBook Air) is recognized and listed in System Information: any ideas? Many thanks! Continue reading...

Hi all, I have a patient on the table here. Signs of life: White power light comes on, stays solid. GPU fan running. When booting a red led flashes once just near ram slot no.4, and flashes once when powering off CPU case fans are running Some mechanics start-up sounds, probably the CD drive. Signs of death: No picture on monitor at all Not showing as a wifi client on the router No response to shift, d, opt or eject when booting No caps lock light No chime, no beeps, no flashes on the... I am having a funny issue - in playback performance in Davinci Resolve and R3d raw, the W6800x Duo is twice as fast (72 FPS vs 40 FPS) as Quad W6800x, or two duos. The Quad gpus are faster in export and other areas like noise reduction, but in playback are half the speed. What can be going on here? I connected resolve support, but they have no idea so far. I wonder if it's the new OS, I'd have to downgrade back to Big Sur to test, but definitely something funny here. Any... Read more Continue reading...

R9 290X 5.1 No Signal
by Guest franzwald- 0 replies

Hello there! I am totally new here and to cMP. I just got mine a few days ago and started 'playing' with it. It arrived with High Sierra 10.13.6 with the original GT120 in it. It worked fine. I updated to Mojave with a GTX 560Ti (although my screen was black the entire time during install). I've waited out, restarted the Mac and it booted succesfully (not with 570 tho but with the gt120). I have a Radeon R9 290X 4GB Sapphire brand. When i place it in the Mac after the chime, the screen goes... Read more Continue reading...

How-To: FIX MAC PRO FAN SPEEDS when using PC (non-EFI) Graphics Cards
by Guest SteveJobzniak- 0 replies
The temperature sensors in the Mac Pro are not tuned for things like modern nVIDIA graphics cards and certain SSDs or HDs, and will ramp up the fans tremendously, even though the temperatures are low. The sensitivity range was tuned for the super-cold, old graphics cards the system shipped with. Some people have discovered that running and then closing a 3D application after every cold reboot would get their PCI "non-EFI" graphics cards into a colder/power-saving mode, which makes the Mac... 8k Displays Running on Mac Pro? Any? What Video cards would work that support 8k HDMI 2.1/Displayport 1.4/2.0 displays on Mac Pro?
by Guest ZombiePhysicist- 0 replies

So after following this thread, I'm thinking of finally replacing my 6 30" Cinema Displays with one or 2 8k displays. They have finally gotten cheap enough that it's worth a try. The question is, what graphics cards support 8k displays on the Mac Pro (mine is a 7,1 and currently has a 9100WX with 6 display ports that I dont think will do the job)? The new AMD Radeon 6xxx series supports HDMI 2.1 (which supports 8k) on their native cards but apple's version seem to be only HDMI... Read more Continue reading...

Ethernet issues - Monterey
by Guest TheValleyOfDefilement- 0 replies

Having issue with ethernet on Monterey. On regular boot, system report states "This computer does not appear to have any Ethernet devices." However in safe mode, both ethernet ports show up correctly and are usable as expected. I didn't install anything disruptive prior, and have removed all extensions and isolated kexts that weren't relevant. Issue still persists. I have just recently completed a good amount of software installation, but will purge the whole thing if there isn't any other... Read more Continue reading...

GPU rendering on the new Mac Pro. News, updates, chat.

I thought a thread would be useful for those of us here who are into GPU renderers like Redshift and Octane. Here we can post news/updates and any general chat about the incoming Metal/AMD GPU render ports on the new Mac Pro. The latest scraps of information that I know (just from forums etc, I don't have any contacts) are that Redshift development for Metal is being handled by Apple, leaving the Redshift devs to focus on version 3.0 which is currently in beta and has been for nearly all of... Alternative to Apricorn Velocity?
by Guest nigelbb- 0 replies

I've been running a 2 x 1TB Samsung 850 EVO in RAID-0 as the system disk on an Apricorn Velocity Duo PCI card in my Mac Pro 3,1 for several years. At the time a 2TB SSD was unavailable (or possibly unaffordable) so as I wanted to replace a 2TB HD I went with RAID-0. I've always been slightly nervous about reliability but SSDs don't break often & I've been reasonably happy with a combination of Time Machine & regular cloning of the RAID set to an HD. Larger capacity SSDs are far more... Read more Continue reading...

Mac Pro (4.1/5.1) aftermarket fans WITH automatic SMC control
by Guest amedias- 0 replies

I've been reading around this subject for a while as a pet peeve of mine is noisy computers. My normal workstations are entirely passively cooled and silence is bliss, but I do still use my cMPs when I need machines with a bit more power or more cores for testing virtual environments and the noise of my 5,1s has always annoyed me. I don't mind them making a little noise when they're really working, but in low utilisation and idle states I still get annoyed by them even with all fans on... Read more Continue reading...
