PHOTOS APP FAILING won’t load!
by Guest /u/SillyDemurePrincess- 0 replies

i’ve been having issues the past week or so with my photos app. Every time i open it it takes forever to load, freezes up, deleted photos come back. Anytime im on any app like messages or instagram, i try to choose a photo from my camera roll and it completely freezes or takes forever to load and i just end up closing the app. I have enough storage available so i didn’t think it was that but it’s getting a little frustrating LOL. Is there a reason for this or any suggestions to fix this issue? submitted by /u/SillyDemurePrincess [link] [comments]

Update problem...

Hello, I recently made the mistake of updating my mp 5.1 with a RX6600 using OCLP to Sequoia. I didn't know it was not compatible. Now I can't access the operating system after bootscreen. There's no way to use that GPU, right? I thought about using my old RX560 (which I think should work) to access the system, rescue my files and downgrade to Monterey. As I have seen, it is necessary to erase the entire hard drive to install a previous system. Do you think this is a good idea or is there... Read more Source: MacRumors

MP 3,1 El Capitan to Big Sur
by Guest HeadstrongZodiac- 0 replies

Hello all, I had a quick question about installing bug sir via OCLP. Do I need to patch dosdude1's Catalina patcher over El Capitan onto my MP 3,1 before using OCLP to avoid metal compatibility? (I have a metal gpu installed and working fine.) Or will OCLP install the necessary drivers and patches without dosdude1's patch? Thanks for any help. Source: MacRumors

"QS" CPUs really that bad?
by Guest flyproductions- 0 replies
Well i've been reading alot her in some threads and watching some YT-videos about using Engineering- and Qualification Samples (mostly from China) in the 7,1. Conclusion was, that ES are to avoid at all costs. But not really the same for QS. While here most of the opinions tend to summarize that they are "not worth the risk", there are some (even reputable) Tech-Youtubers, claiming them to be de facto identical to the final product and – for the somehow a little adventurous – a nice way to... Why is my cMP So Slow...
by Guest CactusMel- 0 replies

Hi, Wondering why my cMP is quite slow, it's a 4.1 ungraded to a 5.1. It a dual CPU tray running at 3.46GHz, with 64GB of ram, the boot drive is an Samsung M.2 SSD on a PCI card/slot and most of the other drives are SSD's. I am running Mojave. Is it the graphics card which is quite old an ATI Radeon 5870 with 1GB of ram, on eBay I can see a MSI Navidia GTX 680 and a 780 with 2 or 3 GB ram, a Radeon 7980 with 3GB ram. I was hopping that one of these might speed things up. It takes about a... Read more Source: MacRumors

Pondering a used Mac Pro 2019 Model

I currently use a 2017 iMac Pro in my home based technical documentation business with a 3.2 8 Core Xeon W, 64 gig or ram and a 2TB flash drive and it has performed perfectly for me. I mainly use it for my technical documentation files and my Adobe Lightroom and photoshop digital photography images. I have always wanted a Mac Pro model, but as most folks know, the cost of these machine was insane and I could not justify the cost compared to buying a used iMac Pro, my current one cost me a... Bluetooth not working on Monterey patch.
by Guest HeadstrongZodiac- 0 replies
Hello all, I recently successfully patched Monterey onto my MacPro 3,1. Everything including the Nvidia metal and wifi works fine, however the bluetooth icon has a little cross through it, and I can't turn it on in settings. Is there any way of fixing this i'm unaware of? I've tried doing an NVRAM reset already, so I don't know what could be the problem. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the root patches. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Source: MacRumors

Please HELP if you can, Issue 1 is: Starting both Macs simultaneously, 1. When MP boots on High Sierra iMac automatically enters Target Display Mode (TDM) and works as a Monitor. 2. When MP boots on Catalina, at the beginning of OS boot up, iMac display shows "Boot Screen" of MP5.1, and when OS booted, the view comes back to MP5.1 main Monitor and iMac's display turns black as he is entering TDM, but no further actions, just stays Black/Blank :-( Connection between machines is... 2012 Mac Pro and OCLP 2.1.2 and MDM
by Guest TBdrumz- 0 replies

I have a 2012 Mac Pro 5,1 64 Gigs RAM, dual 3.46 GHz, & Radeon RX580 GPU. I had Monterey installed and it was working fine. Then I decided to install OCLP 2.1.2 and Sonoma, then I got this screen/page saying my Mac Pro was owned by Texas State University asking to enroll, and I couldn't go any further. I reached out to their IT dept and they were willing to help but could not find my machine. They said that they no longer use that system and maybe my Mac Pro wasn't cleaned of that MDM. I... GPU Upgrade A No Go... Because 10.9.5?
by Guest Mac Jack 7- 0 replies

Hi, I have been working on upgrades for my old Mac Pro 5,1 mid 2010. I purchased an open box Sapphire Pulse RX580 GPU and when I boot up, there's a black screen. The GPU fans are running and I get the chime but no screen. Is this because I'm using my old OS 10.9.5 with the new Sapphire Pulse? Do I need to have OS High Sierra 10.13.2 in order for the computer to see the new GPU? (The GPU is on Apple's METAL supported list.) So far I've upgraded from quad core to six core, replaced the... Rouvy (and other 3D-Apps) crashing with Vega 64 in 5,1 (Sonoma, Sequoia)
by Guest flyproductions- 0 replies
I lately purchased a Sappire RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled. Very nice card and working great so far in the 5,1 with Sequoia. Also 3D-benchmarks or Geekbench Compute pass without any issues. But lately i ran into some problems. First noticed with the cycling/training-app Rouvy (which displays track as some real video an the riders as rendered avatars). But it also happened wit some games like The Witcher III or Layers of Fear. The apps do not even start. For Rouvy, some error report as attached... Read more Source: MacRumors

NVME+cMP3,1: As easy as Accelsior and NvmExpresDxe.efi?
by Guest pullman- 0 replies
Greetings and salutations I've just watched showing how he managed to get a bootable NVME on the 3,1 by injecting the NvmExpresDxe.efi via OCLP. It made me wonder if I could achieve the same with an OWC Accelsior 1M2 PCIe adapter card, which can be had for little money these days. If this works, must such a card be in one of the faster PCIe slots or will one of the slower ones do? Immense thanks Philip Source: MacRumors

specs of my MP 6,1: 32 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 D300 graphics 256GB SSD Of note is that this Mac is Bootcamp configured and runs Win10. I just yesterday finished the chip install and then updated OS to 12.7.6 and then Geekbenched it. Hello - I'm a complete newbie to Geekbench and benchmarking in general. Never had much interest in it to be honest. But, I recently purchased a nicely preserved MP 6,1 and it had the base chip 3.7ghz 4-core in it. I wanted to see how much quicker it could... Mac Pro 5.1 with OCLP - Freezes / lockups.
by Guest MattMorris- 0 replies

Hi, I'm having some problems with my mid-2010 Mac Pro that I'm hoping someone here can help with. Mid 2010 CMP. Upgraded via 2 x secondhand 3.46GHz Xeon. 12GB original RAM + 2 x 8GB OWC DIMM (28GB total). Big Sur via OCLP. Patched Radeon RX580. The machine generally works well and doesn't really struggle with the moderate loads that I put on it. If I push it too hard when I use it as a DAW, then it does have occasional app-level crashes. However, I am getting a regular major lockup -... Read more Source: MacRumors

2008 Mac Pro crashing/Fan issue
by Guest Gothboy1- 0 replies

I thought it was an HD issue. It would boot up, then 5 minutes later the fan would start getting loud like it was working really hard and in the midst of that would crash leaving the on/off light flashing until I turned the Mac off. I removed the boot HD thinking it was mechanical failure and booted off the cloned backup drive but it did the same thing so I’m a little perplexed as to what’s going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated 2008 Mac Pro running 10.11.6 4 HDs Intel 16 GB RAM Source: MacRumors

Hello, I have a 2009 Mac Pro Xeon. Recently, I upgraded it with a CPU tray featuring dual 2.93 GHz Intel Xeon 6-core processors, totaling 12 cores, 64 GB of RAM, and installed Monterey using OpenCore. Everything worked perfectly, but after the upgrade, as soon as I turn on the Mac, the fans kick in with an unbearable noise. However, the Mac is not overheating; the machine is very fast, but the high fan speed is very bothersome! Help Source: MacRumors

Hey Folks— I am trying and failing to get a cMP 12x2.66GHz running macOS 12.7.x Monterey to work reliably with a brand new Insignia F30 43" Smart Fire TV via Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580. I have tried using all 4 non-DVI ports— the two HDMI ports and the two DP ports via HDMI adapter. I have injected Enable GOP into the Mac Pro firmware, so I do get a boot screen on this RX 580**. Here's what I observe: The problem is that the computer thinks the display is there, but I only ever get... Read more Source: MacRumors

My MacBook Pro got stolen and now the thief wants to return it. Should I respond?
by Guest /u/WebHot8444- 0 replies

For the sake of brevity, I'll get straight to the point and fill in the blanks as they come. My MacBook Pro was stolen last year by a man who worked at a computer repair shop. I was able to remotely erase it and report it stolen. Three weeks ago I got an email from him asking if I want my laptop back and that he knows I changed my number. I didn't respond. Last night I got another email saying he's going to leak my personal data unless I pick it up. Should I respond? Is this a threat? submitted by /u/WebHot8444 [link] [comments]

https://b.thumbs.redditmedia.com/dGGH9aUDCuDj7DHxx4DJB4-GY0BWdPWkiuDbzFkNPBk.jpg Its painfully slow, runs hot and battery lasts about 4 minutes of the charger, but I just use it to look up stuff when I’m working in the garage and don’t want to get my phone all dirty. Will keep it alive until I’m upgrading my m2 air, and that might take a while. submitted by /u/Appropriate_Tree_129 [link] [comments]
