Personally, I’d say the iMac Pro. Imagine it having the new design language, an 8K display, and Apple silicon. What a power house it would be… submitted by /u/TheOrchardOfApplez [link] [comments]

https://b.thumbs.redditmedia.com/w5RhuyhpxWi5d1nzVPInTqV_2SHJbeyEjFusWdQGL3o.jpg Had this beast of an iMac come into my shop today for a data recovery and it looks like the SSDs use some sort of proprietary connection. Does anyone know of an adapter or an alternative way to recover the data from these SSDs? submitted by /u/Klowbi__ [link] [comments]

Well I have decided to give it another go and have purchased this beast of a spec. Any tips would be appreciated from ex PC users, especially replacements for Fancy Zones with Microsoft Powertools as I have a large 49" Ultrawide monitor. submitted by /u/nickpowellphoto [link] [comments]

I currently have big sur 11.7 on it, but there are sometimes graphical glitches, such as strong flickering, ect. I’m assuming either due to incompatibility of the os, or overheating? I’d like to take it apart but will have to wait till ik back from my trip. Any suggestions? I’ll swap hdd for ssd, clean it, and upgrade the ram. Cool machine for 50$ imo submitted by /u/Bluucat [link] [comments]

MacBook Pro Touch Bar Blinking on Startup, Never Lights Up – Software Issue? Help Needed!
by Guest /u/AdEnvironmental1862- 0 replies

Hi everyone, I’ve been having an issue with my MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar. When I power on the laptop, the Touch Bar blinks briefly, but it never stays on or lights up properly after that. It’s completely unresponsive during use. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: Restarting the MacBook. Resetting the SMC (System Management Controller). Resetting the NVRAM/PRAM. Checking for macOS updates (everything is up-to-date). None of these steps have resolved the issue. I'm wondering if this could be a software problem or if the Touch Bar hardware itself might be faulty. Has anyone experienced something similar? Are there any other troubleshooting steps I could try? I…

No way to use 1900 x 1200 (16:10) external monitor on macOS 15?

https://b.thumbs.redditmedia.com/BjyicITdpkORqxKKBaEIp21ONHeOBT0cDo-tgEAkjJI.jpg Has anyone successfully connected a 1920 x 1200 monitor to their MacBookPro? I'm trying to connect this monitor to my new 14" M4Pro MacBook Pro. However, there is no option to select the correct resolution. Additionally using opt + "Detect Displays" has no effect. 1440 x 900 does offer the correct aspect ration (16:10). However, it is not scaled, so the display is very large & blurry. Any thoughts? https://preview.redd.it/1qakxiczz55e1.png?width=486&format=png&auto=webp&s=db8d64a75aefe90712b2c60dd66ae0e9ac94106e submitted by /u/OffbeatUpbeat [link] [c…

M1 Pro external display issues
by Guest /u/xe3to- 0 replies

I just got two 4K LG Ultrafine monitors for my M1 Pro 14" and unfortunately I'm having issues with lag. Sometimes the mouse drops a couple frames, and sometimes it freezes for a couple seconds before rushing through its entire path. Dragging windows and system animations often lag too. I'm guessing the M1 Pro's internal GPU just doesn't have the juice to run two 4K displays properly. Is it time to upgrade? submitted by /u/xe3to [link] [comments]

Ease fiancée into a Mac

So my finance needs a new work from home setup. She's a graphic designer and her olderish surface laptop has seen better days. My personal setup is a windows tower, my server setup is a laptop running Linux, and my mobile device is a MacBook Pro, so I have a wide variety of OSs. Looking around at the market and the device that makes the most sense to upgrade her to is a Mac mini. It's powerful, it's portable, it's reliable, and most of all it leaves a small footprint. However, the only issue, is that she is very against the Mac OS. She has never used a Mac OS on a regular basis, only in school, so even then to a limited capacity while in labs. What can I do to ease her…

Target Disk Mid 2012 MacBook Pro to 2024 MacBook Pro
by Guest /u/redditthrowaway445- 0 replies
- 5 views
I have an old 2012 MacBook pro that’s having a startup disk issue, I can’t get the computer to boot onto the OS. I don’t need to fix the computer, would rather just access the files on it using target disk. The 2011 does not have a usb c port, but rather a thunderbolt. The 2024 only has a usb c. I tried finding adapters online but could only find usb c to micro display, and other irrelevant cables. Can somebody please link me to the correct wire needed to connect these two Macs? submitted by /u/redditthrowaway445 [link] [comments]

Imac 27" 2017 5K Retina - PCIe / HDD replacement... Need your advice
by Guest /u/LivinginDestin- 0 replies
Recently I bought a 2017 Imac 27" 5K Retina from an auction. Because of being a computer that belonged to an institution they removed the PCIE SSD but the 1TB HDD is still inside. The Imac is OPEN and the screen is just taped. That being said this is the question: What should I do? - As it is already open should I get a new PCIE (Blade) SDD and install it internally? *and keep the 1TB HDD? - Just don't mess with anything inside, "glue" the imac again and just mount everything on an external drive using the Thunderbolt port? - Do anything else???... Thanks for your input on this submitted by /u/LivinginDestin [link] [comments]

Does anybody know the approximate battery consumption of each “notch” of brightness?
by Guest /u/PIeaseDontBeMad- 0 replies

There’s 16 notches, I can’t seem to even find a test at halfway to full brightness vs full brightness. If there was it’d be pretty easy to determine mathematically about how much each one consumes. submitted by /u/PIeaseDontBeMad [link] [comments]

Getting static shocks from my mac mini, how do I find the cause and stop it from happening?
by Guest /u/ramonathespiderqueen- 0 replies
- 2 views
Been getting static shocks from my setup for a while now, thought it was my audio interface so I sold that to replace it but now I'm getting them from my USB hub. I don't know where the issue is coming from but I've never had such consistent static shocks like this. How do I figure out where these issues are coming from so I can stop them?? Is there a way to test different components with a multimeter so I can find the cause? I've been trying for months and I'm no closer and it's driving me literally insane. submitted by /u/ramonathespiderqueen [link] [comments]

Is an M1 with 4gb RAM on a Mac Air enough for a Windows VM, teams, browser with 10 tabs, and 2/3 more apps?

I'm considering getting a Mac Air because they seem to be very reliable (according to research) but the prices are too high for me, so I'm considering the M1. The things mentioned on the title are everything I need to run simultaneously for work. Can it handle it? submitted by /u/Blacksmith0311 [link] [comments]

Sequoia 15.1.1 Bluetooth Lag
by Guest /u/Pekingese888- 0 replies
So I recently updated my iOS to Sequoia 15.1.1 and instantly noticed very significant lag between my wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and my MacBook Air M1 (2020). What I'm seeing is zero input from the keyboard and mouse, a several second delay and then either a sudden input of everything I input during the delay, the keystroke being constantly input (like holding down w for example) or nothing at all. My question is whether this is a common issue, have people managed to find some way around it, or am I just stuck in this situation. I have considered buying a wired keyboard and mouse, and a usb-c dock (seeing as the MacBook only has 2 usb-c ports), but this is no…
