I was looking for an external display that could match the one on my macbook pro. As of now I had a generic 1440p ultra-wide monitor from Samsung which I used whenever I had to seriously multi-task (which is most of the time), but it'd be so exhausting staring at it for more than an hour at a time, I'd find myself bending over closer to the monitor to really be able to focus on some text. I didn't feel that issue with my macbook even though the screen is so much smaller. Title is as it says, my mac has liquid damage and the motherboard is screwed. I can’t even log in because the keyboard is acting like I’m holding the option key down. So I have M1 Pro MacBook Pro (16GB Memory and 1TB SSD) and I just picked up a brand new base M4 Mac Mini (16GB Memory and 256GB SSD) mainly to render videos using Davinci Resolve. Based on everything I have seen. The newer M4 chip should be faster or similar in performance than 3 year old M1 Pro Chip. But in my real world use case its performing terribly on the new M4 Mac mini. Note I have updates software on both MacBook Pro and MacMini to macOS Sequoia 15.1. My M1 Air has been in storage for atleast a year and in that time I changed the email connected with my Apple ID (but it's still technically the same Apple ID) and today I went to charge it so I could reset it and give it to a friend, reinstalled macOS and now I am stuck at activation lock as the Mac is still seeing my old Apple ID Email as the lock. I recently got a MacBook Air M3 (less than two months old), and it's been working great overall. However, I've run into an issue in my office setup: I connect an external monitor and a USB-C hub (external drives and Time Machine backups attached). The problem is that while I'm typing, I occasionally bump into the connected cables with my left hand. This didn't happen as much with my previous MacBook Air M1 because the usb ports were further back towards the hinge. The primary heavy lifting tasks that I use my Mac for are video editing and photo editing. I have been considering switching away from Premiere Pro to FCP or Resolve so tonight I was benchmarking each one. In doing so I noticed that none of them are utilizing anywhere near all cores in my machine (base M4 mini,) and FCP isn't even utilizing the GPU at all. I would think that video export would be one thing that would utilize as many cores as possible in order to finish the export as quickly as possible. Hello, I am trying to install a fresh OS (High Sierra) in recovery on my MP 5,1 late 2009. The OS install screen says I need a firmware update first and then explains how to do this (holding the power button, the tones, etc). When I do this it restarts and it doesn’t appear to have done anything. It just tries to boot to the drive, which has a faulty OS on it (which gives me the prohibitory symbol) which is why I’m trying just install a fresh OS. Bought CTO as 3.33Ghz quad core that came with either Leopard or Snow Leopard (I should look for that old install disc) and a 30"ACD, and updated it to 6-core and GTX 980Ti, Blu-Ray burner and more, as far as High Sierra 10.13.6 with 144.0.0.0.0. While OCLP 1.4 1.5 were awesome with Sonoma, moved to OCLP 2.1.2 and Sequoia and running into instabillities Crashplan app is unresponsive and displays in red in top menu bar, and the main app shows incorrect text.
