I work in healthcare full time and do additional online study. Use case is mostly word, internet, PDF textbooks, media consumption. I also do love nice tech / better displays / speakers etc. My 2020 M1 8gb MacBook Pro is still going strong, with an expected dip in battery life. Currently it sits in clamshell mode connected to a nice monitor for most of the time - occasionally coming to work. I am (maybe irrationally) itching for an upgrade but am not sure where to go: an updated MacBook Pro (best display, expensive), a larger MacBook Air (similar specs to my current M1 Pro), or the new Mac Mini for home and keep using a MacBook on the move? Basically- is it stupi…

Not sure whether this should be here or in an iOS thread but it started happening sometime in the last year and it hasn't mattered with iOS 17 or 18. I have been using Windows' camera import wizard since 2009 and iPhone 3GS without a hitch until sometime in the last year it pulls in pictures and videos with the wrong filename and from way way back further than the last time an import was done. Dark mode is active, but with light icons. The background of the folder seems to be in light mode at one point and then switch to dark. After experiencing inconveniences with ( same iphone 13 pro ) ios 17 after its launch to the point i had to even write here and ask what was going on.... i have to give praise to ios18 and especially 18.1 for the fact is it's well simply put incredibly functional. No lag, no errors, camera, shutter, keyboard ( uninstalled swiftkey and using flowtyping and prediction is spot on ), battery lasts all day ... and on a 13 pro. I’m finding this latest update from Apple to be quite disappointing. In particular the retrograde Photos app, Control Centre (dog’s breakfast!) and also a persistent problem with plugging a lightning jack dongle into my 13 mini and not being able to play music through an amplifier are all frustrating and not what you’d expect from Apple at all. Why, after all this time, is there no option to tell autocorrect not to change a word that exists in its dictionary? It consistently changes the tenses of words like “changed” to “changes” and inserts insane changes like “Pattie’s” for “patties.” This would be easy to program. Is there something I’m missing?
