Toshiba Satellite Pro L40-139 dead?
Neil Cooper replied to Neil Cooper's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hey Nev, it only has 3 indicators Power(as in on off) battery (pluged in and charging fine no flickering) and hdd after you turn on and does its turn off the charging light goes out and you have to do all that above to get it working again -
Okay best to describe this in steps okay first everythings plugged in as normal E.G. charger however thats were everything changers 1. turn on (this usually takes a good long 3sec pressing down on the power button before anything happens) 2. it will turn on and then straight away the caps lock, num lock, and fuction light comes on for a split second and then turns off. To get it to even turn on again requires you to take the battery out for a minuet or so then plug charger back in and then press the power button like a mad man untill comes on again but it will just do this again. few days ago i managed to get it to successfully boot a few times after removing the RAM and Re-seating it that seemed to work. only now tried to turn it on today was working for about 30mins then all started again. its been taken to a few shops before me and my mate was told was a problem with the switching between battery and power cord (thats confusing me cause i had it working by re-seating the RAM) I just want to know is it a power issue or a RAM issue or even corrupt BIOS and or does this happen if the wrong proccessor is installed. thanks again. Neil,

GTX 560 Non Ti Overheating Help
Neil Cooper replied to Aldaz108's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I just thought i should add - this is very normal i have a ATI HD radeon 5770 and i can tell you this very normal mine takes a few mins when i start playing high end games to reach temperatures similar to the one you have - take a look the cards specs on the offical cards page and scrool to the bottom it will tell you there what temperature it can reach with in safe limit http://www.nvidia.com/object/product-geforce-gtx-560ti-gtx-550ti-us.html , and you other components in the computer have their own cooling example; CPU has its own cooler -

Being a gamer i can certainly say games tend to run better on XP i put this down to the areo desktop windows vista and 7 and applications running in the background however you have 4gigs you shouldnt see any problems with lagging or sluggish gaming. Ken is right Win7 is the way forward they will stop making games that support windows XP with in a few years and then you'll be forced to upgrade to windows 7 also if i was you id upgrade to windows 7 64 bit. also id upgrade my HDD to 1 terabyte as games take up space. as you can see i only have 2GB in mine and i can run just about any game including the new COD MW3 in medium and alot of games in High.

Hi Graham, welcome to FPCH Your Power supply wouldn't be powerful under the Nvidia Recommened Power supply wattage sorry. Below is the recommended PSU 500w you existing PSU is only 460w also you will need a PSU that has 2 6-pin pci-e power connections to run the nvidia geforce gtx 560 ti 1gb. i can give you the link to some PSU's (This is the sort of PSU you want look at http://www.ebuyer.com/269259-corsair-600w-cx-series-v2-psu-6x-sata-2x-pci-e-cmpsu-600cxv2uk or http://www.ebuyer.com/174182-ocz-modxstream-pro-600w-psu-80-sli-certified-atx12v-ocz600mxsp-uk second is better) Thermal and Power Specs Nvidia:

Maximum GPU Temperature (in C) 99 C

Graphics Card Power (W) 170 W

Minimum Recommended System Power (W) 500 W

Supplementary Power Connectors Two 6-pin

Computer Getting too Hot when playing games Help
Neil Cooper replied to Aldaz108's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
it depends i would say buying one would keep the components like ur CPU and the internals a bit cooler but not much cooler its all about the air flow, just like how heat rises, but id say if its getting that hot and its affecting just the top of you case its the PSU and it just being upgraded means there more chance of that. PSU's are fitted with there own fans mine has two one thats visible inside the case and one thats blowing the hot air out the back if they failed or even just one the temp would get seriously hot its why there there. so adding a fan to ur case isnt going to solve that problem. you PSU getting that hot to me is either a Faulty fan or a Faulty PSU Put ur hand to the back of you computer were the PSU is and tell me if you can feel the "warm" air coming out. It should just be Warm not hot tell me if its HOT or if its WARM air thats being vented? Is ur graphics card 72c idle or 72c while running games? and like Ken said is it just were ur PSU is? if its getting that hot its dangerious protenchially a fire hazard as cables burn. -
Computer Getting too Hot when playing games Help
Neil Cooper replied to Aldaz108's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
are you using a Stock CPU cooling Fan? a fan that came with the computer usally if its a AMD system they say AMD on the fan? there normal operating tempertures for you CPU and Motherboard far as i know specially if you using a stock CPU cooling fan (look above for example)http://www.jbtech.com/shop/images/atrex/cpu%20fan%20amd.jpg and for your Graphics card (what game are you running at the time you got these temps) the more immersive games can heat ur card high (mine runs about 46 degrees in idle just at the desktop) ive just looked ur Graphics specs your save to reach 99c http://www.nvidia.com/object/product-geforce-gtx-560ti-us.html One question and only do this if you feel safe doing, dont do it if you have no idea what you doing! just take the side panel off you computer (if ur looking directly head on to ur computer should be the left side panel) and tell us ur PSU power in WATTS, hight Wattage usually means highier tempertures but should not be burning hot , also put ur hand at the back of the PSU there sould be a fan on tell us if its working. as ur the temps you have put down are normal id say has to be ur PSU......... Make sure you unplug the power cord from your computer.. you say you had the computer upgraded did you also have the PSU upgraded and if so to what Wattage, what game did you use and for how long did you run the game for? One extra question where do you have Fans and were do you have spare fan vents? -
