  1. Hi remboi; Go to crucials web site and run the scan tool or search for memory for your computer. You should find all the information you need there. http://www.crucial.com/ RandyL
  2. Hi Johnny; The usual causes are malware like viruses, trojans, spyware and adware. Of course it is possible it's something else. Do you have an updated antiviruses program and antispyware program? If so which ones. I assume you're running Windows XP. Many downloaded programs come bundled with such malicious software. Screensavers and some games come to mind but there are others such as some file sharing programs. "Should you restore?'" That depends on a lot of things. Let us know a littlle more as requested. Have you made any changes or installed any new software since "a few weeks ago"? Please get back to us; RandyL
  3. Hi Bluesplayer; Welcome to the forums. I'm sure you'll like it here.
  4. Hi AdvancedSetup; Sure is great to have you here. Impressive credentials. I like your style already. RandyL
  5. Hi agards; See if the following link helps you out. Scroll down to "Adding the Personal Address Book or Outlook Address Book service". It's for Outlook 2002. Perhaps you can change your settings there. http://www.it.cmich.edu/quickguides/qg_outlook_addressbooks.asp "On the desktop, select Start > Settings > Control Panel. Double-click the Mail or Mail and Fax icon. Click the Email Accounts button. Select View or change existing directory or address books". RandyL
  6. Hi tony; Update your card drivers and see if that helps. Disable background tasks. Disable your antivirus while playing. Look through the list and you should find a few answers here. http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_cv=&p_pv=2.670&p_prods=7%2C670&p_cats=0&p_hidden_prods=&p_sid=vF2XrbVi&p_lva=&p_li=&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_page=1&prod_lvl1=7&prod_lvl2=670&prod_lvl3=0&cat_lvl1=0&p_search_text=system+requirements&p_new_search=1 RandyL
  7. Hi Pete; Fantastic to have you here. Be warned though. I'll probably be asking you a lot of questions. Jump right in. RandyL
  8. Hello Jack. Welcome to this great site. I know you''ll like it.
  9. I'm not sure what your saying CrazyComputerMan; Whether it's an originall install or upgrade Key and Validation issues arise for a variety of issues. Most always explainable or resolved. I can't say what your issues were or how you resolved them. You didn't supply enough information. Either way I fail to see how this post is relevant to the original posters query. I thought I answered it clearly and supplied the relevant links. Perhaps you can clearly explain what it is I may have missed. Thanks; RandyL
  10. Welcome CCM. We appreciate all the help we can get. Courteous and professional service is what we're all about. RandyL
  11. Hi everyone; The Norton Removal Tool might expunge the registry keys needed to correct this. Be warned though it's usually best to run it on failed uninstallations only. I personally have seen the tool corrupt other things. Uninstalling Norton can be tricky and has to be done in the correct order as even the basic antivirus program has two entries in add/remove. Even if it does work there might be a problem with the online registration if the key is in use. Not sure though. I have found Norton to be most helpful with these kind of issues. Probably the safest bet. Take care everyone; RandyL
  12. Hi azza; It appears that XP should have the drivers you need for the fujifilm but look at the support link anyway. There is an update for the USB driver there as well as installation instructions in PDF. http://www.fujifilmusa.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/ServiceSupportSoftwareContent.jsp?dbid=804768&prodcat=710738&sscucatid=664260 As for the vivitar vivicam check their downloads for drivers and PDF manual. http://www.vivitar.com/support.asp Check Device Manager for any yellow ? to see if there is any trouble with drivers. That's all I have for now. Plwase post back. RandyL
  13. Hi houdini; Since it now appears it's not just an IE issue as Dave asked, you should follow danzil's instructions. Check your regional and language options in control panel. RandyL
  14. Hi bikerbabe; Welcome to FPCH. Don't worry. This is a very user friendly forum. Enjoy it. RandyL
  15. Hi azza11; Please don't re-install Windows. That won't help and I would hate to see you go through all that for nothing. Can you provide just a little more information to help? Make and model of computer. Vista or XP I assume. Can you provide details on that. Make and model of the digital cameras. Can you see the devices in My Computer? Have you tried a different USB port? I ask just in case that info may be needed for this issue. Please post back as I'm sure someone here will assist you. RandyL
  16. Hi Jamie; The first link above if you scroll down explains it. See "Clean Install". You will have to backup your data. You could use Windows Easy Transfer to do this. Keep in mind that some software and hardware may not run on Vista even if it did on XP. RandyL
  17. Hi bluckfactory: Am I reading your specs right? 800 MHz Processor and Vista. Which version?
  18. Hi Jamie; You can but the Media Center is not an option in Basic but is integrated into Home Premium Also you will need to do a clean install of the upgrade. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradepaths.mspx Even with Basic is your system up to it? Run the upgrade advisor. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx RandyL
  19. Hi People; I believe in Vista you have to set your auto play choices from the control panel. Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Autoplay. If Control Panel is in classic view just open AutoPlay. Of course that won't help if you can't use the drive. There is a firmware update for your drive but I don't know if that will help. http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=75 RandyL
  20. As Wolfey said you have to look quick to see the options at the POST screen. Some computers have different options to enter safemode as well as the BIOS. What make and model is your computer? If it's a Samsung or NEC the options to enter safemode may be different. You could try holding down the ctrl key at bootup. RandyL
  21. It's worth a try. They may be able to help you with your connection settings with them.
  22. Hi Dave; I've never used Linux so if you could be more specific I'll try to research it for you; RandyL
  23. Hi virgil; You may want to contact your provider to see if they can assist you on this. Here is the link to one of their support pages that has a email and phone number listed. It is possible that the problem is with them. http://xtra.co.nz/help/0,,14395,00.html I am trying virgil. RandyL
  24. If you couldn't boot from your old drive it may have been failing. Not a good sign. Data may be lost. Have you tried a hard drive test on it? RandyL
  25. Hi neon; The recommended memory for your software is 1 GB and that's probably not enough. They tend to low ball the figures. Your system will support much higher. You can also update your graphics driver. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=502396&lang=en Although it should improve the performance it will also use more of your memory. Your processor is 1.8 GHz which barely meets the minimum and is nowhere near the recommended. And if your system has too many programs running at startup this would also use resources. In my opinion your system isn't up to it. Even with more memory and the driver update your processor is on the weak side for this. RandyL
