  1. Hi M L M. Can you tell us the error messages? After you uninstall it you should run a search for leftover Firefox files and delete them.. They will most likely be in C>Program Files. Be warned though that if you do you will lose all your Bookmarks since this will remove everything.
  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHIAZ I hope it was a great one.
  3. vamp you have now asked three different questions but failed to respond to my question. I also noticed that you did this after you read my question. At this point I suspect nefarious reasons so reply promptly please.
  4. Well this might just be a case of of the drive failing when only certain CD's or DVD's wont read on one computer but willl on others. But since you mention encryption I have to ask are these disks originall or copied? Do all other type of disks read ok?
  5. Hi vamp. You have asked two completely different questions. Can you please post them each in the correct forum section so that we can reply to them individually? Also can you please be much more detailed. we need to know exactly what the issues are.
  6. Looking at the Documentation I'm wondering if in fact there is room for an additional hard drive. Are you sure these aren't drive bays for say a CD or floppy drive. Your model comes in three flavors. Small Form-Factor Computer (One hard drive (IDE or Serial ATA) Small Desktop Computer (One hard drive (IDE or Serial ATA) Small Mini-Tower Computer (two hard drives (IDE or Serial ATA) Which one do you have? Do you have the Windows installation media? I guess if you have the latter it's all down to the pricing with the components but I'll offer my opinion. You have an old computer with an old hard drive. Drives eventually fail. If you have the Windows disks get a new large drive and install Windows to it. After that the 40GB drive will seem insignificant.
  7. By default in XP if you boot to safemode all accounts should be presented when logging in including the Administrator account that you don't see in a normal bootup. If it's not there then you have a major issue since you don't have any Administrator account. Even if you do have the XP Recovery Console it's unlikey you can even attempt a System Restore etc. since without an Administrator account you have no rights. In my opinion now is a good time to backup all your files, Favorites or Bookmarks, address book and anything else to external media. Do you have your original Windows disks or Recovery Disks as you may need to reinstall Windows.
  8. I have edited your picture in order to remove the email address for your security. You can view a larger picture by clicking on it.
  9. Hi Jay. I wish you the best of luck here.
  10. Hi pucker22. Since Windows 7 is not yet available and Windows 7 RC is no longer an an option as a test OS we need more info. What email client were you using? I'm assuming Windows Mail.
  11. Thanks Dalo Harkin. I appreciate your reply more than you know. boothy128 Dalo knows.
  12. As Tootech noted it's unlikely. The keys you used permantly deleted them from the server as well as changed the data base file not just deleted or renamed the file as Tootech said. Plastic Nev tried an experiment on this too. As such I doubt that even a System Restore will help in this case although I had hoped it would. You did find the Incredimail nessage store but at Deleted items.imh 14kb it appears empty or gone. The only thing I can suggest is for future use. Never use or depend on any email client for saving importantant information. Move data to a folder or file. Back it up to external media too. Depending on the email client you may be able to back it up as email outside of the message store by using file>SaveAs etc. like in OE or Windows mail but even then it's not absolute. I think you lost it bob. Sorry.
  13. That's a lot of dust Doug. Breathing a lot of dust long term can be more than uncormfortable.
  14. Hi mnew. Monitor "cords" are standard items. You need to determine whether you need a vga or dvi (DVI-D, DVI-A, and DVI-I. DVI-D) is all. Any parts store or supplier will have them. The same is true if you mean the power supply cord. In any case based on the age I'm guessing your computer has a vga output. Is this what it looks like. File:VGA port.jpg - Wikimedia Commons
  15. Hi caskin. Do you have SP2 or SP3 installed? What errrors are you getting? Have you uninstalled the previous version first? Have a look at these links on install issues. Acrobat product interoperability: Install and remove Acrobat and Adobe Reader (9.x on Windows) Troubleshoot errors or freezes during installation (Acrobat and Adobe Reader 9.0 on Windows
  16. According to their site Windows 7 is supported. Since it's a USB device it should show as a drive just like it does now especially since it says it supports data storage. I'm not positive however.
  17. Is it just the Open With that is missing from the context menu? If so look at line 220 on the left at Kellys-Korner. Also there is this from Microsoft. "Open With" Command Missing from the Context Menu As always before modifying the registry you should back-up the registry first. Try this too. Right click a picture file and click Properties. Do you see an option to chaange it there?
  18. Let us know how it goes alizan. Good luck.
  19. Hi Triode: I'm not sure which version of Windows you are talking about but as maynardvdm has said if you do it via that method you will likely get the expanded tree view starting with the Start Menu opened. This has been a basic function for quite some time. If you open My Computer or Computer as it is called in Vista via the method HobGoblin suggested you will get the non-expanded tree view. Opening Computer or My Computer via any method will do the same. You do have the My Computer option via an icon shortcut or applet or various other means that will open it in the view you want. I think you just deleted such or chose not to show it on your desktop. Are you aware that you can put it back on your desktop and rename it? As of now I have not found a way to not open Explorer in a non-expanded tree view in the left pane or navigation pane as it is called in Vista. I'm sure there is a way via reg edit but other options would be better. When Windows 7 is released I believe there is a simple way to do this however.
  20. That's good news starla. I'm glad it's working right now. Thanks so much for letting us know it's fixed and what worked. I'm not sure what you mean there. I won't purport to know your Norton program or why you think it's Norton. I'm not a fan. I'm not convinced it is a Norton issue. It might be a previous Gmail configuration and the messages just might not be there. Is this an issue or are you satisfied?
  21. Hi jasand, Tootech and Plastic Nev. Great links on running the recovery from the hard drive and on how to create or buy the recovery disks. I know how difficult it is to research and find that information for particular make, models and number of any PC. I commend you both for taking all the time to do it. jasand you should have all you need thanks to them. To add my personal opinion: I too have an HP and can recover without using disks. However I made a set because you just never know. It also comes in handy to have the disks if you ever need to replace the hard drive and reinstall Windows. I just had to do that last week on a computer. I also suggest buying a set of recovery disks even after making a set. Not only is the price very inexpensive but it gives you two sets in case one set is damaged or lost. In addition the purchased set is likely to be of better quality. Call me paranoid or call me prepared. In any case thanks guys and good luck jasand.
  22. Just to be on the safe side you should backup all your data, favorites and address book if you use a mail client like Outlook Express. I say this because if you have a hardware problem like a bad drive you risk losing it. Also make sure you have recovery disks made.
  23. Hi scobe; I'll attempt to answer your last question. From Microsoft: How to change or select which program starts when you double-click a file in Windows XP
  24. Only use the section chiaz mentions when running CCleaner. Don't use the registry aspect of the program. I'm wonderiing if using selective startup might help isolate the offending culprit. Any thoughts on that?
  25. My first thought was a Visual Basic program or malware. Two things stand out here from your file. 1. uTorrent 2. PeerGuardian 1. P2P or Torrent programs are against our rules. 2. This is what Wikipedia has to say about PeerGuardian. The original PeerGuardian (1.0) was programmed in Visual Basic and quickly became popular among P2P users despite blocking only the common TCP protocol and being known for high RAM and CPU usage when connected to P2P networks. By December 2003, it had been downloaded 1 million times.[2] The original version was released for free and the source code was made available under an open source license. All things considered you should uninstall those programs and run security scans.
