  1. Hi nicky. I would wait for chiaz to look at the log but offhand I don't see anything to be overly concerned about. I'm not sure what your Tuneup program is but as a rule I'm not a fan of such. I do see a dll file I'm not sure about too. Wait for chiaz but if your scans are clean and your computer is not experiencing any problems you are probably ok.
  2. Hi starla. I like to think us friendly. Good luck here.
  3. Hi starla. Check all your settings in Windows mail and also make sure your Gmail is configured for POP3. Windows Mail - Gmail Help You should also check to see if any security software is interfering with it. Settings won't save - Gmail Help
  4. Wait for snow please scobe. Any data files such as pics and text can be recovered if it's just the account profile that is corrupted as the files themselves still exist. If a new Admin account is created it can access all users files whether it be user or admin files. I've done it. snow or tootech will know more so please wait for them or other members to post.
  5. Since this is the fun section I'll post here on this. At long last I don't have to bend over pushing my grandson down the street on a kids bike any more. Today he finally did it. He pushed off on his own and took off riding down the street. What a joy to see him take his very first ride all on his own. There I was standing there as he rode off down the street and just kept going and going and going. He never looked back. He just kept going and going. And now I understand the joy of seeing a kid take his first ride. I'm so proud of him. And I can also rest my back now too. :):)
  6. A nice bit of little known history there Nev. It's so hard to pinpoint these things in the great American melting pot since we are a country made up of many countries.
  7. If it's not one thing it's another. Very good and true Doug. :):)
  8. Hi again. The CD's you made should always work if the machine is set to boot from the CD drive first which yours must have been if it worked once. If they no longer work I would suggest buying a new set. The quality of a purchased set is much better and the price is very inexpensive. I forget but I think you have an hp or compaq. Can you give us the make, model and number again please. With that information perhaps we can link you to the order page. And by the way snow made an excellent post and I agree with him 100%.
  9. That's great deewhy. Knowing danzil I'll wager that was the next thing he would have suggested. Thanks for letting us all know. We appreciate that.
  10. Hi alizan. You could check Device Manager to see if there are any faults with yout graphics drivers. However this sounds more like a hardware problem such as a problem with your monitor or with your onboard graphics or graphics card. Since your PC is only a month old it should have a warranty. Have you contacted your seller about this?
  11. Like Plastic Nev said we need to know the make of your computer. I have an HP computer with a HP keyboard. I have that function on my keyboard. When I press those keys a blue display shows on my screen showing the words increasing or decreasing volume along with a seperated line graph showing the level. Compaq (now owned by HP) has specialized keyboards too with specific functions that relate to the computer. Depending on what computer you have they may have changed a setting in your keyboard layout in Control Panel. Another thing they may have done is disabled the feature from running in Startup. I'll give you just one example if you have a HP computer. Go to Start>Run>type in msconfig>Click OK>Click the startup tab. If the KBD or KbdStub.exe is unchecked then specialized keyboard functions will not work. Now if they have actually deleted the files then you will need to reinstall those files which means you might need a driver CD or download them from the manufacturer. First things first though. What is the make, model and number of your PC or check your settings.
  12. I would have thought like Ashton that something should have shown in task manager. Anyway can you run the RSIT that chiaz asked you to run? It might give us a clue as to what is running. Don't worry about the link. Although it is of no help you only linked to it in good faith.
  13. If I'm not mistaken if your account profile is corrupted the best thing might be to make a new account and copy your data over to it. Have a look at post 3 by Tootech in this other thread. It would be a good idea to hear what snow has to say first though before doing anything.
  14. I believe you mean you have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. Since this is a laptop you probably mean that you have one hard drive that you have partitioned into two parts. Is this correct? I don't know what partitioning software you've used. To me it sounds like this is the Dell Factory Image Restore files which might be on a hidden partition there. To be honest at 20GB you have very little to gain from this. Worse still is if you ever do need to reinstall Vista you might need those files. If you reallly want to do it right get the Dell CD's while you can. Backup all your data. Install XP and when you do choose to use the entire hard drive. I would leave well enough alone though. You do run some risk of not being able to reinstall Vista in the future if it's not already too late.
  15. Hi shrimply. I'll take a guess here. Options window - Privacy panel Look at the Remember search and form history: section and also look at the Form autocomplete link in that section too. I'm not sure if cookies make a difference in Firefox on this matter but if the above does not work try setting Firefox to never delete anything on closing to see if that makes a difference. To me it sounds like the autocomplete feature known as Remember search and form history in Firefox is turned off or clearing cookies history etc on closing may be stopping autocomplete from remembering.
  16. Happy Birthday GreyCell. With just minutes to spare I noticed it was your birthday. Well at least I had a few minutes here in the U.S.A. Have a great one.
  17. I agree with DSTM. It's worth a try and you have little to lose at this point. He's right. It is a good program.
  18. Hi ehd. If you did a FULL recovery back to factory condition AND you did a disk cleanup your chance of recovering your files are near impossible. In addition every time you have used your computer decreases that chance. Specialists may be able to recover a few but the price will be extremely high. If your C drive was already corrupt the chance is even less. If you were also low on disk space after the reinstall I'm surprised that you were able to reinstall considering that and the corrupt message prior. I may be wrong but your drive may be faulty and all data lost. Perhaps you can provide additional details.
  19. Hi gallorgs. What sites are you having trouble with? What browser do you use? Who is your internet providor? How do you connect? Dialup, high speed, wireless? What antivirus do you have? What firewall are you using? What if any meessage do you get when a page won't display?
  20. Hi all. I'm aware of the DirectX 10 for XP. It's from a third party vendor and some people have had issues with it which is not surprising. The problem here is how to get rid of it since you can't uninstall DirectX as you do a program. There are two things you can try. One is what danzil suggested which is to use a program like DirectX Eradicator. It may or may not work since your DirectX is not the supported version and it states it is for DirectX 2.0 to 9.0c. Use at your own risk. You could also try a System Restore to before you installed version 10. Failing those two options might be very bad news indeed. And for anyone who reads this thread in the future there is no DirectX 10 for XP. 9.0c is the latest version for XP as danzil noted. DirectX10 is for Vista. Give those ideas a try jordan.
  21. Hi bigdaz. Welcome to the forum. danzil has replied to your question in the Power Supply section.
  22. For the techs and to recap. Netframework won't install on VISTA. Google software. AOL software (might have AOL AV/CA) Kaspersky AV SFC may not be an option even if ran from a command prompt. IE8 and AOL In post 13 by danzil renaming the file might work. It does seem that sim can get into Windows.
  23. Please continue with danzils and snows others advice. Don't get ahead of yourself. One thing at a time. I only meant to say that there is nothing wrong with your keyboard or its setup.
  24. Hi Simbasgang; I think I remember that thread. Normally it is F11 for HP/Compaq but after looking up your model it was indeed F10.
