  1. Tried that just now. No luck I think its rendering the KB useless. When you restart the PC, the lights on the KB flash, but once on the Bios Logo screen appears, I think it doesn't respond ....the caps lock LED does NOT illuminate ( for eg )
  2. Hi thanks loads for your help and time guys. I can;t get into the bios i dont think. I built the machine a bout a year ago ( but changed the hard drive around 6 months ago!! and has very little on it! ) Its my home PC and has had very little use since i changed the hdd ( due to extra commintments at work ). I leave the PC on for days, sometimes weeks before switching it off. I like it "always on" and heard somewhere thats its better for the PC, as it stays at a constant temperature, and reduces dry joints ( oh yeah people started talking about saving energy shortly after i heard that ) The most its been used for in the last 6 months is browsing and watching TV on iplayer...
  3. I think its the Bios Post screen. It says Asus at the top etc.... Tried pressing f8 in deifferent ways...no luck :(
  4. Not sure at all, I would be lying if i said yes or no. I was doing loads of things at the time, and previously installed a sony erricson program to update my phone ( because thats also playing up ) a couple of hours before. Not sure if it was that either.. I think I may have left a browser open when i clicked restart, and didnt shut down the pc properly. I thought Id go and make a quick cup of tea while it restarted, and when i got back it was just like it is now. :(
  5. Well i put the Vista DVD in, and restarted the pc - everything just keeps freezing on the boot screen... Should i be doing something else??? thank you. :)
  6. Yeah Just tried it tried tapping, holding and morse code and it still does the same thing.
  7. Me again Hpoe you're all well! I have a prob again guys, hoping someone can help. I had an auto update of a sort come through ( i wasn't paying attention tbh) and when i was prompted to restart the pc,I did so! But now it won't go past the boot logo screen. It asks me to press delete for setup or tab for post bios message, but my kb is not responding either. I tried a wired kb, which lights up on reset, but then doesn't respond either. tried reseting the pc a few times and the same thing occurs. Its a pretty new PC and even newer hDD. Any suggestions please? :)
  8. Fantastic - got me out of trouble - thanks again bud!

  10. Hi Guys - how can I convert word docs into pdf please? I'm hopeing there is an alternative to buying acrobat pro! Thank you.

  12. SORTED! I thought I'd try a different USB Cable which worked. Strange because I took the one i was using out of the other printer... Oh well. It all seems OK now guys - thanks loads. :)
  13. I only tried doing that as a last resort.....
  14. From the README notes in the driver folder - some USB hubs may experience problems with MP drivers ( NO S**T!? ) if this happens, connect the device directly to the USB port on the PC ( where else do they think i would put it exactly??? ....anyway tried that too ) or change the USB port that the device is connected to ( Tried that too! ) I think im going to bang my head against the wall a few times. ;)
  15. Its not asking me to put the usb in. At the end of the install it asks me if i want to select the port manually, and if i click yes, it doesnt list the USB port. So i click on finish ( complete installation ) Yes i downloaded the file ( twice - thought i downloaded the wrong one ) from Canon. That was a mission in itself!
  16. Nope - still getting the same message when i plug the usb lead into the pc a little popup comes up saying - USB device not recognised or has malfunction, or something along those lines.... :( sooo frustrating! Ive spent far too much time on this.
  17. managed to "uninstall" the cann and deleted the xerox no xerox files found doing a se managed to "uninstall" the cann and deleted the xerox no xerox files found doing a search - trying again now....
  18. Should i do a " xerox " and "canon" search do ya reckon? lol ;)
  19. Ummm If i delete the printer ( delete printer option in Printer folder ) will it remove the driver? I cant seem to locate the Xerox printer in Device manager or Xerox programme to uninstall. sorry....
  20. Lol! Ok bud will try that.. will be back shortly with an update.. Thanks ;)
  21. Hi mate - hope you're well! Well I didnt uninstall the Xerox printer or driver - should I? Will it not be possible to have both printers installed? :)
  22. hi Guys - hope you're all well. for the life of me I cannot install ( or get to work ) a brand new canon pixma MP210 on Windows Vista. I have another printer installed on the PC but it doesnt seem to be recognising the Canon. I have uninstalled the printer and drivers several times, and tried re installing ( had to download the drivers as I lost the CD! ) using different methods 9 ie running the CD setup exe Adding a new printer and locating the drivers manually etc... tried updating the driver too . When I install the priner by adding new printer, it shows the printer in the printer folder but i dont think the USB port is being recognised.... A note comes with the printer saying that there are issues with Vista ( finding the printer via USB ) and advises to swithch USB ports. Tried every port on the PC. It also says that the PC should recognise the printer and install the driver auto. - I wish! Any ideas good people? :)
  23. Noone buys scrap glass wolfey, we looked into that as one of the first things we did - we actually pay to dispose of it. Just "briefly" spoke to my accountant, and he advises the same thing - its hard to keep stock levels when there is so much waste. The very few products we do sell that need to be stock checked are minimal (sundries ) and can easily be checked.... I cannot justify spending money on a barcoding till system, when nearly everything is made to measure and we have to work out prices for ourselves to the nearest square millimeter, and these are not preloaded stock items, as each window, or IGU or piece of glass, has its own price ...i.e how long is a piece of string?.....I just want to create invoices LOL. As for a database, thats probably a good idea for the future when we build up a slightly larger "trade" clientbase - where we get repeat custom. For now they are all in a good old fashioned address book. We are tradesemen at the end of the day, not accountants or bookkeepers. Going to speak with him more at length tomorrow, thanks for the advice :)
  24. I understand what your saying Wolfey, thats all done on Sage i THINK, by our accountant, who does our VAT quarterly. We basically give him all our paper work and Im sure has that side of things covered mate, I just need to be able to create quotations, invoices and to be able to keep track of those - from two separate places , only 2 metres apart..
