  1. I didnt think it would be possible as the HDD wasnt even being recognised before. In the boot sequence Message, it said there was an error, however it recognised the HDDt, as it is doing in the Bios Setup Now - Im hoping i can get one last boot up from it now! How do i get it intro safemode in Vista?? please.
  2. Yes its out. The only thing is - its the first and only Sata Pc/ device I have. So untill I buy another one, Reinstall Vista on it, I wont know if it'll wk.:confused::confused:
  3. Im almost certain, as when it tried booting the first time, it said Primary Hdd error, and when I went into the Bios? setup, it wasnt even there / recognised.
  4. Im sat here in disbelief as i write this.... and I'm praying that someone can help me, cos I have a really horrible feeling I have big problems. The fan on my Graphic card was making its itermittent noises, ( think its on its way out ), while i was on the phone, and was really bugging me, so I gave the PC a little tap. well quite a big tap. PC Froze for ages so I restarted it. On restarting, My HDD is making horrendous noises trying to boot up , and then sort of dies out. Vista doesnt boot. I opened the PC and the HDD is plugged in OK the SATA cable is in OK, and I have no idea what to do now. Its 750GB seagate, about 6 months old, with little usage, but lots of important data for my work on there.... I am distraught right now, and I'm hoping someone can help. Please please please...... can someone help me! Not so smart, Spart! :(
  5. Well Put! lol Totally Agree Haven't used Ie for yeeaars! Firefox so much nicer to use. I find a bit more responsive, and the skins you can add to change the format of the window does it for me ! Never use Ie explorer unless I have to... ie for an online scan that requires ie. But I guess - just like babes, its a matter of taste ;)... You don't marry the first girl you meet tho! :D
  6. You're a good man. cheers pal. have a great weekend :D

  9. Hi Guys I configured Windows Mail in Vista to download my googlemail account. It workd ok bar 1 thing, says it failed to download headers. I did all i could to try and rectify this, i.e syncd all folders, but is still doing the same thing. Any clues? Thx. Spart Ps this is the error that pops up annoyingly after about a minute  Header download for the '[Google Mail]' folder did not complete. Could not select '[Google Mail]' on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your folder list to synchronize with the IMAP server. Account: 'Ebay', Server: 'imap.googlemail.com', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Unknown Mailbox: [Google Mail] (Failure)', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCCD2

  11. I think it's fantastic that you can help your clients remotely. Thanks for the advice :D:D:D
  12. Hi TheBox Not sure what card is called to be honest, its a no name thing from ebay, Looks pretty good, I bought the 2 pack they did as Im building two systems. 2PCS 16CH240F H264 CCTV Digital Video Recorder DVR Card on eBay, also, CCTV Security Cameras, Security Equipment, Consumer Electronics (end time 21-May-08 16:49:48 BST) Um thats them if you are bothered to look. I just did, and it says that they have remote viewing - so your theory may work. Thank you. Spart
  13. Thats really cool, could you access their the programmes and open them up? Download/copy files to your PC? What I mean is...if i wanted to access my work PC from home, and open up Illustrator for example, and work on a design....., could I then save that file/ design, on that PC, and MINE??? Also, just out of curiosity, and seeing as I was aksed to elaborate, could you in effect, log in to your clients computers without them knowing your there? ( say they are asleep but online - which is what i do ) because, with all due respect, if my ( imaginary ) IT person could do that I'd be a bit worried. There is a lot to be said about privacy! I'm assuming ....there is a an option where the client can grat access, and or you set the Host PC to aotomatically allow this? Thanks for the advice kelly. :)
  14. thats good innit :D it change my i.e. to Internet Explorer LOL i was baffed for a second.
  15. Hi Kelly Thats really interesting, I thought there may have been a third party softwre that did this, but as i needed a copy of windows anyway.... But I will look into it a bit more, Thanks! Would I be able to access applications like a cctv monitoring program and see the feeds live as I would if I was on the CCTV PC itself? Im not sure if I would need Pro for the machine I'm using ( ie my laptop ) to access the system. On the comparison chart, it says access from any windows based system, so im hoping I wont need to upgrade that too!! Thanks Kelly - no doubt when I'm trying to network these up, you'll be seeing more of me.. Spart:D
  16. Perfect thanks Randy. I would need to access the pc remotely to check the CCTV - so it has to be XP Pro :)
  17. As the title suggests guys and girls, what are the fundamental differences please? ( other than about £40  ) Ta Muchly again. Spart :D
  18. Didn't think so either lol thats why I asked. ;)
  19. Ok Now I really AM Pushing My luck, lol.... I have another question similar on this topic but I fear I may be pushing the boat out somewhat asking this.... I just bought a Genuine Copy of XP Home on ebay all sealed with CD Key. Gonna install it on another machine I'm building ( work CCTV thing ) in my old P4 machine. A Friend " suggested " that i MAY be able to install this on a secondary machine, and get updates, as the very nice people in Microsoft usually let 1 or 3 go. LOL Is this the case? ( if they ban me for this,....it was emotional..... )
  20. Haha, Very funny. I've almost thrown a laptop out of my window after losing to a very bad beat at poker. Its been known to fly around the room from one sofa to the next many times though....I'm surprised it still works! Thank you all for making my stay a pleasant and educational one. Education is priceless, and my "generous donation" ( hardly.... ) is insignificant to the amount of people you help. I will hopefully donate some more next month too when things are less tight :) Cheers! ;)
  21. Hi EVeryone! I'm Spart I'm a Glazier / Chippy in Enfield London and love Computers. Built a few in my time, but not because I know what I'm doing, I just like a challenge! :) Hope I dont bore everyone with my silly questions, and thanks loads for all the help already recieved. This is a great place! Full of GREAT People! I LOVE IT! :D Spart :D
  22. I know I'm pushing my luck now.... but i have to ask... From the restore, would I be able to install evrything to a different HDD ( as a slave in the machine? ) ?
  23. Ps its a 40 GB HDD - far too small, as I am building a CCTV system with it. I Have practically uninstalled everyithing I didnt need on it, ran ATF, SAS, MB and ESET. which found a LOT of rubbish. I then Did a disk cleanup and Defrag, and now the machine is pretty clean and fast, however, due to the age, and that fact that i need a 500GB + HDD, I figured to just start fresh as opposed to adding a slave drive.... What are your thoughts? :)
  24. Its a Dell Optiplex GX260 Seth where and how do i find this partition if its there? :) I'll give them a call too.
