  1. Glad it's all sorted - 99% of the time the device manager is accurate, but a dedicated sound card is ALWAYS better than onboard :)
  2. I would go for a minimum of 500Watt - Corsair or OCZ :D
  3. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  4. Well - as you suggested you could get this Scan Computers UK: 512MB Palit HD4850, PCI-E 2.0(x16), 1986MHz GDDR3, GPU 625MHz, 800 Cores, 2x DL DVI-I/ HDTV, HDCP but im afraid as for the monitors - Scan do not do any cheap ones that have a DVI interface - you may have to bite the bullet so to speak in getting this from another etailer
  5. 'Thermite' in youtube is far better! :D
  6. There is no real difference! that cooler may be noisy though :( as for the PSU's Hiper 530W HPU-4M530 SLi Certified ATX 2.2 PSU or OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent ATX2 Power Supply and as for the monitor - it doesn't have DVI - just the VGA
  7. We do not condone the use of p2p programs, whether you are using them innocently or not - we cannot get involved in p2p issues, it's in our policy. I think that you have enough of an answer to move on and I am closing this thread -
  8. Oh dear - another coolermaster product I would look at someone like Corsair or Seasonic for the PSU - as they are extremely efficient and they WILL provide the power that they state they will - unlike some other products
  9. The PSU and the MOBO are fine - and as for that case - well what can I say (where is the sick button, its ghastly) Now even I would choose the coolermaster over that monstrosity!
  10. As Randy has said - the VERY first thing that you should do upon reformatting/reinstalling is run any updates in terms of Service packs and MS updates/optional hardware updates through windows and then before ANY other programs are installed the AV and the FIREWALL need to go on! And if you wanted to a RESTORE POINT created or an image taken and then install any programs you wish - but be aware that if you do not know the source of the programs for example torrents or illegal sites/copied software then the chances are that this is where you problem lies.
  11. Have a look for a review of the PSU - some review sites like HEXUS list the cable lengths. if its the sake of £2 then just get the one that is retail and then you have an extra heatsink - then if after a few years like me you accumilate about 40 of them - bang them on ebay lol The only issue in terms of the cables not being long enough will only be the 4pin one - if you cant find a review that lists the cable length then buy an extender as they are only like £3
  12. OEM windows is fine. As for anything else - I would personally opt for an OEM Q6600 if you can find one as you say that you have the freezer 7 cooling rather than the stock intel one. You will get SATA cables etc with the MOBO, IDE ones too - so no worries on that - if you want to go the whole route of tidying the case in terms of clutter to help aid the airflow - then have a look at my sig and try and route the cables under the MOBO - I would also STRONGLY recommend SATA Optical drives as the wires are much smaller and easier to route under the MOBO -
  13. I would yes - just to save yourself as much on the P&P as possible.
  14. Fans that have LEDS built in are expensive and they do not look as good as some Cold Cathode red tubes emitting :) prices are negligable - but try and get as many of the parts from one place so that you dont get hammered on P&P 10 items from one place is about a £10 10 items from 10 places is more like £50 -
  15. Look Good :p http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/hardware-reviews/3500-antec-twelve-hundred-case.html My power is infinate
  16. I doubt it very much - it may well be an Nvidia chipset but if they did not make it compatible with ATI then I am sure that they would be in breach of some kind of guidelines. If you truly want to go the 280GTX route (which I would not advise) then just choose the cheapest one as they are all reference design and the manufacturers just OC them a bit. I would look at the resolution that you typically game at and what you will be mainly using the pc for and then choose a more suitable card. come back and answer the questions above and I will post back for you
  17. I still think that you are barking mad choosing that coolermaster case over the Antec twelve hundred. as for the fans - just buy normal black fans or maybe UV reactive and get some reactive fans. And forget the Antistatic stuff - just touch the copper pipe on the bottom of your radiator before you start - I have never had a component die from static on me handling it. Other than that we seem to be getting there :D Antec Antec Antec Antec No, I am not on commission from them lol
  18. Just use the MOBO's BIOS settings to slow the fan
  19. you can still run them, just not in crossfire.
  20. As Wolfey has said AVG and NORTON are not very good AV programs - I suggest deleting both and then use AVAST or similar to do the search so that its a more comprehensive search
  21. 2 at the top, 1 at the back and 2 at the front is fine then - 2 at the back would be better but thats fine as long as you have the 2 at the top.
  22. 700 is very low - I would leave the bigger ones in situe and then just add the 120 ones around them - I would not add too many on the side at all and if there is an option to not have any on the side panel at all I would opt for that - for good airflow you just need 2 at the front 2 at the back and 2 at the top - the ones on side panels may help keep the GPU colder but messes up the internal flow of air
  23. You need the front fans at around 1000-1200 and the back ones less as there are more - as for the monitor my mate bought one of these Digimate 20" L-2041WD monitor DVI Multimedia Black 8ms Widescreen (3yr Manufacturer's Warranty) - L-2041W - www.microdirect.co.uk its a no frills one but it looks fine when I set it all up for him
  24. The problem with the 230mm fans are that they can be really noisy - if they come with setting like the Antec's, High Medium and Slow ;) then thats ok. thats about right for a 20" but make sure that it has a DVI port - also have a look at reviews of the monitor as some suffer from poor image quality and have an awful gloss on the screen and if you use it in the day is a nightmare
  25. The freezer 7 will be fine. ok you need a minimum of 1 at the top (preferably 120mm or above) one at the back 120 again and 2 at the front 120 again and that is fine - if you can have 2 at the top 2 at the back and 2 at the front then thats even better and will be like a little igloo - Like my Lian Li PC343b :D It has 5 at the front 6 at the back abd 2 at the top :D That PC isnt a bad spec but 22" monitors are around £100-£150 now
