  1. Missed this one Sorry - Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  2. Virgin in itself is having issues with some email and websites and dropping connectivity - mine is doing all of the above. I have contacted them and they recommended I keep undated via the webpage where it shows 'issues' logged and where and when they are updated
  3. BUY you could build an extremely good spec for £500 - I know as I recently did one for a friend you would be looking at MOBO, Q6600, 2GB RAM, 9800GT or equivalent and then obviously a case and PSU etc. This is obviously bearing in mind that you would have to use your old monitor, keyboard and speakers etc.
  4. Hmmm - I would say that Wolfey is right and the drive is toast
  5. Here you go Download Medion Drivers
  6. right that makes more sense - the drive is giving you that error as it has an OS on it - goto control panel>admin tools> computer management>disk management and then right click on the G drive and try and activate it - I am guessing you may have to change it to a simple volume - but come back and let us know what it says.
  7. There are no other ways:- what are you having trouble with - can you not open the PC that you are trying to slave it to or can you not add an HDD - I can talk you through both, if the enclosure that you have does not work then you could buy another, but what I have suggested is Free and is the best option.
  8. This is the easiest way to get the data off it - there are obviously issues with your HDD and as you cannot boot from the drive - you need to slave it to another PC so that you can get your data off it.
  9. You are not trying to boot from it - you are using another PC yes that has an OS on it? then what you are trying to do is add the drive as a secondary HDD, not boot from it.
  10. What software are you now using to burn the CD's with. Nero? you have to be extremely specific in terms of the version number that you use with Nero as they are known for crashing systems if you have the wrong version number. Let us know what you are now using and we will go from there.
  11. Ok - take the HDD out of the enclosure and connect it directly to the PC that you are 'slaving' it to, by this I mean put it as a slave on the main cable. boot the PC and see if its in My Computer. If not then go to control panel, admin tools, computer management and then disk management on the left hand side - there will be a list of drives connected to the PC optical and HDD and then just right click on your drive and 'activate' you should then be able to access the drive in my computer :)
  12. Right - let me get this right - you have a slot in one of the spaces at the front of the PC that acts as a 'hot swappable bay' and you also have an external enclosure for doing the same thing when you do not use the bays. If the external enclosure works ok, but the swappable bay does not then the wires that connect the swappable bay to the Motherboard are not connected properly - can you take a screen shot of the inside (specifically where the wires run to from the swappable bay)
  13. No problem - if you need any help give us a shout
  14. Are you using a USB hub?? try it just in the back of the Motherboard direct rather than the front ports on the case
  15. It is very very easy to OC the Q6600 - I would not recommend more than 3.3GHz per core though just on air. (you will need a heatsink like the freezer 7 pro though or the Thermalright 120 Xtreme as a minimum) If I were you and was looking at the 8800 range have a look at the ATI 4870 range or the 4850 they are extremely good - if you could afford to spend a little more then the 4870x2 (not to be confused with Crossfire as the 4870x2 is 2 GPU's on one card) as for the case - too many fans create negative pressure in the case and you need airflow to the right places and extraction of air too which the Antec range do particularly well - again depending on your budget you could look at the twelve hundred Antec case (but be prepared, its not cheap )
  16. You will have to initialise the disks:- Go to control panel, click admin settings, then computer management, and then disk management on the left hand side. It will then list your disks and you need to right click on the ones you want to activate and click activate - they will then show in My Computer where you can access.
  17. From memory there is an Ethernet port on the front or back - but I think that you need an adapter for it - not 100% sure
  18. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  19. You can order AGP 8x cards from scan.co.uk etc and they are not expensive at all
  20. Myself and Wolfey spoke about this when it changed - I prefered it the way it was as it actually looked cleaner and more crisp on the page
  21. well if you look at it in this way an E8400 runs at 3.0GHz per core so effectively 6.0GHz chip an E6600 runs at 2.4GHz (stock) so thats 9.6GHz stock this is purely processing power though. At the end of the day they are making games now and preparing games for Quad - so they are the way forward in my opinion. Have a read up on Quads and let me know what you think :)
  22. As you mentioned issues with the printer - unplug that from the PC and retry, also unplug any other USB devices that you do not NEED to rule out them as a cause and see how you get along and let us know please. If that does not work - pop the CMOS battery out and wait 10 seconds and then replace - obviously this is done with the PC switched off

  24. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  25. Asus MOBO's are reknowned for being excellent and very good at compatibility. You can OC a Q6600 to 3.3GHz on Air per core! I would not really recommend getting a system that can utilise SLI or Crossfire as when the time comes to add another card there will be a cheaper and better single solution available!
