  1. We do not help people with P2P problems Thread CLOSED
  2. Check that the MOLEX connector at the back of the Drive is firmly in place - if it is then then check the IDE is tight and failing that the drive is dead or the MOBO is or the PSU is faulty
  3. I would do as wolfey says - if the system light is not coming on but the HDD light is then they are getting power, so its either the IDE and the GPU/RAM not seated right - or the MOBO is dying/dead.
  4. Is this a film from this century Wolfey as some of us are younger than others :p
  5. McAfee is expanding their security portfolio, following an announcement made by the company that they plan to acquire Secure Computing Corp. McAfee has offered $465 million for the outfit, hoping to bring additional email and network protecting systems into their fold. As they are the number two security firm around, acquisitions are the logical move for them to grow. Sourced from McAfee to acquire Secure Computing - TechSpot News
  6. Is AMD changing their CPU naming scheme again? That's currently a rumor, but the company is said to be readying a new five-digit naming convention for their processors starting with the introduction of their 45nm units. That would include the as of yet unreleased Phenom X3 and Phenom X4 models. The roadmap reveals other information about the processors, including clock speeds and supported memory, though none of it is unexpected – cache sizes, clock speeds and TDPs are all what we've already seen from similar CPUs. It primarily seems that the numbers would not necessarily directly indicate how many cores or how much cache a CPU had. Sourced from AMD to change CPU naming scheme? - TechSpot News
7. Microsoft’s downloadable Windows Live tools all got an update last week and it looks like their online tools are next. According to the company, Hotmail is getting a major update in the coming few days, one that will increase the mail service’s speed as much as 70 percent on slower machines. Hotmail will also "combine the current classic and full versions of the service” to allow consumers to view the body of an email without clicking into it – a la Microsoft Outlook. Other changes include stronger virus and spam-detection technology, more storage, and a bunch of catch-up features such as IM access directly from the inbox, auto-complete functionality in the “To” field of outgoing messages, and easier calendar sharing options. 8. Glad that you found the answers to your queries in the 'archives' I think that people forget that there are lots of threads that are available for people to search and a quick look 99% of the time will solve their problem :D As for the drink, I will enjoy a Bombardier later :D
  9. If you right click on the wireless one thats crossed out and click connect - what message do you get?
  10. If this is the case in terms of the HDD and the PSU - have you tried any other RAM - another CPU if you know someone that has one, other than that there is not much else it can be. If your original PSU blew, then the chances are very high that it took either the CPU or the MOBO with it and possibly both if it was a cheap PSU, there is no other way to diagnose the fault unless you swap ALL the components out.
  11. unfortunately they all use the push pins - unless you take the MOBO out there are some that just screw into a backplate, no good really if you have built the PC. With the push pins - take the actual black pins out from the clips and then line the pins in the MOBO holes and then you can push the black pins in and they lock rather than messing about turning them etc ;) make sure you do the opposite corners though, so it locks tight
  12. Intel heatsinks are not good at all and no matter what anyone says 57 is hot  if the CPU is 57 you can guarantee the MOBO is more probably around 65-75 - It's too hot simple as, and you need to add a new heatsink and extra fans in the case - chances are it will be the MOBO temps that are causing the shutdown. to give you a comparison my Q6600 runs at 4GHz per core and although its water cooled I have never seen the temps above 30-35 :D
  13. unplugging the power cable would work as it basically resets the BIOS in terms of faults - have you checked in the BIOS on the temps and tried raising the limits on the shutoff temps?
  14. What Virus software do you use?
  15. Hi Malc, and welcome to FPCH :)
  16. Agree with Wolfey the MOBO could be toast. When you power the PC on - are any of the lights on the MOBO on?
  17. can you have a look in device manager and see if its there (in safe mode)
  18. Depending on what you are opening - all the 00, 01,02 files contain the same information - you only need one of them to be extracted ;)
  19. How long have you had the PC - sounds like the HDD is toast
  20. What are the files that you require? and where are they located, specifically?
  21. Hi Sappers, Welcome to FPCH :D
  22. have you been drinking again Seth? :D
  23. this sounds off topic but did you install SP3?
  24. I am guessing that you have 8GB of RAM as you do encoding/decoding etc on DVD's. you need a powerful card and I would opt for something like a Nvidia 260GTX (but these are £210) give me a budget and I will find you a card for the money
  25. ok go into the msconfig and then startup tab and post a screen shot please
