  1. You may need to ACTIVATE the disk - goto control panel>admin tools>computer management>disk management - is the drive in there?
  2. Hi and welcome to FPCH :) The technology you are describing is VERY old and most people have no idea what they are - I would doubt very much if you could get a replacement part other than from another machine. Or a very Specialist supplier. Sorry I could be of no further help
  3. thats VERY hot - you need much better cooling! MORE FANS in the case will definately help - can you post a pic of the inside of the case please :)
  4. The recent release of Chrome with its lightning-fast JavaScript execution has led many people to question how other browsers handle processing JavaScript. It's evoked response from many, including Microsoft, who has recently commented on the performance aspect of Internet Explorer 8. Interestingly, they revealed something we all could have guessed – that IE8 has not been designed with execution speed in mind. That doesn't mean they were admitting it was slow. On the contrary, they said that it was built with responsiveness and feel in mind, claiming that the actual discernible difference between Chrome opening a page and IE8 opening a page would be negligible. That's their own words, of course, and only the real world can actually judge how fast a browser “feels.” They also reminded the world that IE8 is a beta – and performance could improve as it is developed further. 5. Apple promised some interesting new features with iTunes 8, but Windows Vista users that upgraded to the new version were in for an unpleasant surprise. According to users on the Apple support forum, the dreaded 'blue screen of death' system crash is being triggered when an iPod or iPhone is connected to a PC running Vista and the new iTunes 8 application. The crash doesn’t seem to be affecting all systems so it’s likely that another factor is involved. Apple is asking for dump files to find the source of the problem – some are pointing to an incompatibility between Apple and USB products from Logitech and HP. 9. Hi and welcome to FPCH :)
  10. download it here ac3filter.net/
  11. I agree with Seth - seeing as though you have changed the MOBO and the GPU - then the chances are that the PSU is dead (that could have been what took the MOBO out - as when a PSU goes it normally takes the MOBO or the CPU out with it) Are you 100% sure that all the connections are installed correctly (this may sound naive) but it is a very common fault, do you get any response from the PC whatsoever - Case LED's, fans spinning up?
  12. Wolfey my opinion of you is slipping based on your last post :p
  13. No problem - we will leave the thread open until you return and let us know if its sorted :)
  14. Right - can you run something like a game for 5 minutes and then restart the PC - go into the BIOS and post all the temps and the Voltages - and if you can get a tool for monitoring the GPU temp, and let me know that. we will get there in the end. :D
  15. Goku - me and Wolfey were being sarcastic as we saw the defrag options but not the 4 reboot options :D
  16. LMAO :D Wolfey it's not your eyes mate
  17. Dependant on what you use your PC for only some of the very latest games use anything upward of EAX3 - so if you play games that are over 1 year old, it will be fine and a monumental improvement over onboard.
  18. did you do what Randy said in post 5 http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/26155-post5.html
  19. I question that - mine doesn't so unless I turned it off somewhere
  20. Well done Bonnie :D - you now choose a quote. btw - great may be a tad over the top lol
  21. YES by a huge margin - I think it was 30 seconds when not defragged on say a BIG game like Command and Conquer 3 or Supreme Commander, and 15 seconds when defragged - these are loading times BTW. Huge difference
  22. As I originally posted in I think Mara's thread - I really only defrag my GAMES drive and thats becuase the files are big.
  23. My HP lappy has the same - luckily If ANYTHING goes wrong with it I pay £2 a month and it covers the lot - even if I decide to drop kick it down the stairs :D
  24. No google - dunno if it would give it anyway (dont try) the winner gets the next go at a quote :D
