  1. So when you try and set the connection up - are you saving the connection and the password? There is a small tickbox bottom left to do this. Do you know if you have a Access Control on the router? - this is done with Mac addresses, you have to put the MAC addresses of all the PC's that use the router into a page on the router? If not then it sound likes you need to reinstall the wireless driver
  2. On the last picture Mara - it shows that it was accessing the temp folder - what happens when things are wrote to temp (temp is basically used to temporarily store a file, and when the file is done with it gets deleted automatically) Chances are you ejected the CD when the temps were still being accessed - even to be deleted and they crashed the system. it will be a one of error and will sort itself :)
  3. It could be a number of things - do you need to assign the MAC addresses into the router to gain access to the net? Do you have any type of encrytion on the router like a WEP key? There should be options to connect wireless in the task bar - have you changed anything on the system? You can goto network connections in control panel and see whats happening and try and re connect
  4. Get rid of punkbuster - it takes over your port control and is most likely the reason you are having issues - make sure that the ports are set correctly for the game and in the allowed section of the firewall
  5. It also depends on the speed of the CD/DVD - the writer may be capable of 16 or 18 speed but if you are burning to 4 speed disks then you will have a problem - you can only burn at the maximum speed of the disk. a 16x DVD disk and drive takes me about 6-8 minutes :D (you may also need a firmware update if the disks are a fast speed and they are burning slower than they should) Also some versions of NERO do not play nicely with certain OS's
  6. When you launch the game - you will get a windows popup from the firewall asking to allow or block. I suspect that you clicked block on some of them, make sure that the pages are in the IE allowed sites section for access. You may have to manually create a rule for the game and pages, come back if you are unsure how to do this
  7. There is no need for a BIOS update - I would uninstall the video driver (you will thenbe using the windows default one) and see how it is - is it still flickering? if not then its a driver issue
  8. Have you ever been in the router setup - as posted above? Is the router just a router - or a modem/router?
  9. Hmm, thanks for that Scott - all the Netgear routers I have ever set up have been 192.168.1.1
  10. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  11. Laptop HDD's are 2.5 inch - desktop PC's and most caddies are 3.5 inch - you need to pack the sides of the drive if the caddy is too big - I use foam pieces :)
  12. Post in the feedback forum if its all ok now - if you are still experiencing issues - open a new post if the old one has been closed :) (in the malware section)
  13. Set the PC in the power options to never hibernate - or spin down the drives etc. The reaon it happens is to reduce the power consumption and that turns the disks off too, and some can be awkward wanting to come back out of hibernation - most peoples Wireless adapter does the same. I personally would just turn the options off and never hibernate - and when not using your pc - turn the monitor and speakers etc off
  14. Its not necessary - but you can use it if you want to - :)
  15. A SATA or PATA drive will normally register as the primary boot device even if you have another IDE drive installed. The problem you will be having is that the PATA has an OS on it - try the PATA in another PC and see if you can format the drive after pulling the data off it
  16. It sounds like the OS is failing to load - this can be due to it being corrupt - or the HDD could have just died - Do you have the Disks for the PC?
  17. Go to my computer - is the drive shown in there? If not you need to go to Control panel>admin tools>computer management> then on the left click disk management. Then the drive will be in there - right click and activate.
  18. Just re read this post - Are you an administrator on the PC? when you uninstall the drivers for the opticals if there are any present - do you then restart and await for windows to try and pick the drivers up? if you go into device manager - it will tell you the make of the Optical drives - from that you can then get a firmware update - or try the original driver again

  21. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  22. New, It may seem like a long and laborious task running the malware removal guide - but it is well worth the time and effort in doing so.
  23. open an IE window and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 and a password box will appear - these are normally all the same - you should have the name and the password printed on a sticker under the router - have you ever done any of this? If you have not done this before then chances are that your router is blocking the router via a password or bu MAC address - but we can diagnose further when you let us know :)
  24. Do you have an update Martin?
  25. If you are having an issue - it will be because the power fluctuates on the Q6600 GO stepping anyway, when you open task manager and see what the cores are doing - they will be running at a reduced rate - until you open a game or CPU intensive program and then all the cores fire into life - as a result of this some MOBO's do have an issue with the voltages and take time to adjust at the post. As for not noticing until the log on - what are you doing man lol - your timings could be out, you could be running in single channel mode  It's ok - just pay attention - and where are the pics?? :(
