  1. Its still not that slim that it should not fit - when you insert the card from the side the but at the end on the ports thats angled needs to go down the side of the MOBO (Motherboard) and then you slot the interface part into the PCI slot at the same time -http://z.about.com/d/compreviews/1/0/J/4/DIY-PCI06.jpg
  2. if you have email on your mob take a pic and then email it to your email account on your pc and then upload? Do you know what make and model case you have and MOBO?
  3. Ok - do you have more than 1 stick of RAM - have you changed anything at all hardware wise recently - are all the fans turning in particular the CPU
  4. Take a pic of the case with the side off. Even in a shuttle it will fit.
  5. Right - the fact that you mention 'clicking' indicates the HDD (hard drive) but it is also worth checking that the fan on the GPU is running as a distorted picture is normally related to excess heat on the GPU.
  6. Ok - can you go into the C:/ drive and then there is a folder called NVIDIA or ATI click in there - and list what files there are please.
  7. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  8. Can you please list the specs of the PC:- MOBO CPU GPU PSU
  9. If you can give a VALID reason why then we can 'discuss' further :D
  10. So you dont remember the ORIC or the COMMODORE 64 then lol
  11. Intel is preparing to discontinue numerous dual-core and quad-core CPUs in the next few months, cutting back significantly on the portfolio of processors on the market. They initially were preparing to discontinue a handful of processors, and now the list has grown. A total of at least 13 CPUs are scheduled for dismissal in this move, including both 65nm and 45nm parts. Discontinued CPUs will include dual core models from the E4600 all the way to the E8300, as well several quad-core models. The official notices is expected soon, at which time Intel will probably also reveal a roadmap for the CPUs that will succeed them. Sourced from Intel prepares to discontinue 13 CPUs - TechSpot News
  12. If you're a Radeon user, you may want to check out the newly released Catalyst drivers that AMD has made available today. AMD released the Catalyst series 8.10 drivers for all major platforms, including Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X, Linux and the 64-bit iterations thereof. That's a significant amount of driver releases, many of which have platform-specific fixes Sourced from AMD releases Catalyst 8.10 drivers - TechSpot News
  13. Not long after releasing the X18-M and X25-M solid state drive for general consumers, Intel has begun shipping the 32GB enterprise-class X25-E Extreme variant, which promises increased server and workstation performance by 100 times compared to traditional hard disk drives. The new drive features Intel’s 50nm single-level cell NAND flash memory technology, which delivers 35,000 read input/output operations per second and 3,300 write IOPS. In addition to much higher performance, the X25-E Extreme is also said to lower energy costs by five times – active power draw is 2.4 watts, and manages to achieve up to 250MB/s sequential read speeds and up to 170 MB/s sequential write speeds. 14. OCZ introduced a new product today, bringing their first triple channel memory kits to the market. They are calling it a “world’s first,” and pitching the new memory to the as of yet unreleased Intel X58 Express platform that will make use of Intel’s Core i7 processors. The first triple-channel kits will be available in 3GB and 6GB sizes, with either 1GB or 2GB per channel. The modules are designed to be low-voltage, necessary for CPU compatibility, requiring only 1.65V regardless of what speed module is used. They are available in PC3-10666 and PC3-12800 speeds, and will initially be available in their Platinum and Gold series, which are typically aimed at enthusiasts. 15. Intel's IDF is currently underway, and of course is bringing hints and reports of a lot of new hardware and technology on the way from the silicon giant. Some particularly interesting news to enthusiasts and overclockers has come from the Core i7 processors, which have a variety of features that seem specific to people intent on tweaking their systems. To start off with, the CPU won't be hindered by a forced voltage limitation, on top of no longer having CPU voltage directly linked to memory voltage. This means that future Intel boards won't be limited in what memory they can use solely based on system voltage. The good news hasn't stopped there – the Core i7 is potentially going to have an unlocked memory multiplier, letting you change memory frequency on the fly, something any decent enthusiast board must have. 16. The disputes between Nvidia and Intel led many to believe that SLI on Intel platforms might never happen. Nvidia initially refused to open up SLI to Intel, but to the happiness of enthusiasts everywhere they eventually relented and provided support for SLI on X58 boards. Fast forward to today and Nvidia is now eager to announce that several huge motherboard manufacturers are preparing X58 chipset boards coupled with SLI, including 3-way SLI. ASUS, EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte and DFI made the list, each of the them preparing SLI boards based on Bloomfield and X58. The 3-way SLI support is probably the most exciting tidbit to pull from all that, even if it would be ridiculously expensive to actually make use of it. 17. I personally cant wait for this I loved KOTOR 1 and 2 and it was rumoured that a 3rd was on the way - it now looks like this is taking its place which I am a little disapointed in, but I will live :D
  18. BioWare and LucasArts have officially announced Star Wars: The Old Republic, the much rumored massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in the Star Wars universe. This is actually the second MMO based on the saga, following Star Wars Galaxies, which was released in 2003 but fared poorly due to its overwhelming complexity, bugginess and lack of quest content. 19. Right - you do not need to wipe the drive everytime a driver does not work - you just need to uninstall that driver and then carry on - Right if you start by going to add/remove programs and remove the graphics card driver then go to C:/ there will be a folder called Nvidia click into that folder and DELETE any files that are in there. Then restart and then install this GeForce Release 178 And it should work
  20. And we will have VIA to contend with too - and lets not even think about if NVIDIA start making CPU's ;)
  21. Ah but by then what will Intel have to offer and with Windows 7 being the OS at that time - ;)
  22. It may make more sense for you to just buy a high end laptop if you are on the move, but still want to play games etc, although they are not easily upgradeable it is worth looking at some inlight of what you said - and thanks for your kind words - I always say that we all started somewhere when it comes to PC's :D

  24. Thats 4 years away matey - I used to vote AMD all the time but the dual and quad cores have really pounded AMD as of late.
  25. The GPU at load runs just short of 300 Watts on its own  So go for 600 Watt and you will be fine :)
