I have used the application briefly and it can extract files from *.exe and *.msi packages. I don't know if it has the ability to compile the files back or not but I can see how you could find the application useful. Nice links Scott. I will check them when I can spare a few moments. :) -- Goku

Prologue: Dial-a-fix is a small utility that is used to modify various aspects and policies of Windows. It can come in very handy to resolve common problems when advising users with little or no computer experience. Please download Dial-a-fix by DjLizard. Extract the contents of the archive to a convenient location. Browse to the extracted files and double-click on the file labeled Dial-a-fix.exe. The Dial-a-fix: Restrictive policies will automatically pop-up as shown below. Please ignore it by pressing the Close button. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn44/JustMeYaar/RestrictivePolicies.jpg This should give way to the main Window. Check the following boxes, if present, so that it looks similar to the sample attached. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn44/JustMeYaar/Dial-a-fix.jpg Close all open applications, browser windows, etc. (including this one) and proceed to the next step. Press the GO button when ready. The process may take quite some time to complete so please wait patiently while the application performs its procedures. The boxes will begin unchecking themselves as the application completes a part of the directed instructions. Press the log button as directed in the image below and then, press the Copy button. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn44/JustMeYaar/LogFiles.jpg Paste the contents of the log in your next reply. Note: The above procedure will just modify some base aspects of the Operating System. It contains various advanced tools too that might be used when troubleshooting certain problems. Please make your instructions as concise as possible to avoid confusion. -- Goku

Error Message With Flash Drive
Goku replied to swagatopablo's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hello Swagato. Please do the following and see if it resolves your problem or not. Disconnect your flash drive from the computer. Right-click on the green arrow icon in the system tray and select Safely Remove Hardware. This should provide you with a list of removable devices attached to the computer. Highlight the first entry and press the Stop button. Replug your device and see if it still gives you the error message or not. If it doesn't, then note down the device name and post back here. If it does, then repeat all the above instructions till the flash drive works flawlessly. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku -
You don't need to guide them anywhere Mara; these installers are smart and will automatically go where they are required. :D You just need to install the drivers on top of your existing ones and all should be well. Should you encounter any problems, we will provide you with the instructions to roll back to your previous set of working drivers. Just make a restore point before you attempt the install and you are good to go. If any problem arises or you have some answered questions, then we are always here to help you out. And it is always a pleasure to answer you. :) -- Goku

Pardon me but I don't quite understand what you mean by Windows pop-up block? But most probably, it won't effect Firefox in any way! -- Goku

Hello Mgb. If you have purchased the disc, then you must have the unique serial key too which is required for activation. In that case, the activation process will not be painful at all. How to activate Windows XP If you started receiving this error suddenly then please let us know and we will try our best to help you out. :) -- Goku

There are some "advanced" users out there who want to customize Windows XP in every way as possible. By "tweaking" the settings, they modify every possible aspect of it to flaunt it as a cool machine and a performance monster. There is even a book that explicits provides the instructions to do so and I might mention that it has been moderately successful. Most of these programs are safe as they replace the default Windows boot screen logo with a custom one. By safe, I mean that they are not loaded with Malware, Foistware or any other unwanted applications. Needless to say, there have been cases when such softwares have corrupted the kernel files and rendered computers unbootable. Not pointing anything at you King; just explaining the general reasons behind such customizations. :) -- Goku

Hello James. You might need to setup the Bluetooth connection, as Dalo says, before you can proceed further. Here is an article that gives step by step instructions to do so. How to setup a Bluetooth connection Hope that helps. :) -- Goku

Fix USB Devices He probably means BIOS version 2 Wolfey. Hello Legend. Please perform the below instructions and see if they help or not. Download the file archive INF Collection from here and extract it. If you are unsure on how to open the archive, use the instructions from here and continue. Within you will find a folder named inf. Enter the folder and copy all its contents. Next browse to the %systemdrive%\WINDOWS\inf folder, where %systemdrive% stands for the drive letter on which Windows is installed (typically C drive) and paste the copied contents. Answer Yes to any subsequent prompts and complete the process. Next, please download the attached archive and extract it. After you have extracted the archive, you should obtain a file labeled Fix USB Devices.reg. Double-click on the file and you will be asked whether you want to import the information into the registry or not. Answer Yes to the prompt and sometime later another dialog box will pop up informing you that the operation was successful. Again, browse to the %systemdrive%\WINDOWS\inf folder and delete the infcache.1 file, if present. After you have done the above, reboot your computer. Note: Please backup your registry before you apply any of the above changes so that we can revert back your system to working condition if something goes awry. Please make sure any USB devices are disconnected while you are performing the above procedures. Next, try to plug in the device again and see if Windows is able to recognize it now or not. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku

Not all is lost though Obtc. You could use BartPE to salvage the data off the disc before you proceed with a clean install. Mind you, you will need a genuine disc for that as the OEM version of the disc will make only things worse. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku

Hello Obtc. You probably went a bit too far. Performing a repair install from an OEM disc replaces the registry hives which has result in the lockdown of the accounts. So, even if you do manage to boot into your computer, there is a high probability that the accounts will have been password protected too. Sorry to break the news to you. :( I will try to search for an alternate solution though. :) -- Goku
