  1. Hello Ony. Can you type on the other Forum on your computer? If yes, then I hazard a guess that the keyboard connection is loose or worse still, its dead. -- Goku
  2. Wow Mara. Your words lift my moods to the best and give me a new vigour to help everyone around the Forum. I sincerely thank you for that. :) By the way, what we do to help you, is nothing compared to what you contribute to the Forums which makes us such a great community. Feel free to post any other doubts or questions you may have. -- Goku
  3. OK Jane, I have got some information, that is most probably useless to you. Getting started with tracking Quicken accounts on Quicken.com Perhaps, you might want to update your accounts to Quicken.com as that might be the only form of synchronization available. I will keep looking for you though. -- Goku
  4. Lol turns out I bit off more than I can chew. :D Frankly speaking, I barely have experience with Microsoft Office products, let alone this Quicken software you speak for. I will try to search a solution for you but I can promise nothing. However, someone more experienced will be soon coming along to sort you out so keep hope. :) -- Goku
  5. Hello Woody. Please download the attached archive and extract it. If you are unsure on how to open the archive, use the instructions from here and continue. After you have extracted the archive, you should obtain a file labeled Fix CD Drive.reg. Double-click on the file and you will be asked whether you want to import the information into the registry or not. Answer Yes to the prompt and sometime later another dialog box will pop up informing you that the operation was successful. After you have done the above, reboot your computer. You should now be able to access and use your CD drive. http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/images/colortheory/attach/zip.gif Fix CD Drive.zip Note: Please backup your registry before you apply any of the above changes so that we can revert back your system to working condition if something goes awry. Note: Using the above registry fix might cause some programs to dysfunction or work incorrectly. In that case, please reinstall the affected programs to resolve their respective errors. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  6. Hello Struggling. Please post your problem here and we will try our best to sort you out. If no one else has posted any question on the application, you can give us a start. :) -- Goku
  7. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Shazza. :) Enjoy the Forums. -- Goku
  8. OK, lets try the above procedure again. But this time, please type in the commands as listed in the order below. ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /mnt/windows -o force ls /mnt/windows cd /mnt/windows/\$Extend/RmMetadata rm -rf \$TxfLog ls /\$Txflog cd / umount /mnt/windows init 6 Now, try and perform the second part and see if you are able to repair Windows or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  9. Hello Struggling. To pull the body out means, in simple terms, to copy the text in the message and paste it into a new composition. This way, the recipients won't be bothered by a whole string of duplicate messages that you usually get on a forwarded message. Besides, it keeps other users' contact details discrete so it is advisable to adopt this practice into regular use. I am sure Randy will explain it better when he comes online. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  10. Yes, Service Pack 3 will have integrated all of those hotfixes post Service Pack 2 or atleast corrected its code so that the hotfix is no longer required. If you are unsure, then verify the list of fixes you plan to uninstall with those provided in the link before so that you know if it has been integrated or not. I, personally have removed, all Service pack 2 updates but I guess I just prefer a cleaner Add / Remove list. -- Goku
  11. Not really mate but since Service Pack 3 integrates the updated form of hotfixes, it is advisable to remove the ones downloaded through Windows Updates. There is no major performance or disk space gain but it might prove useful in the long run. I have no technical sources to quote this from. Guess it just depends on the user's preference on what he / she wants to keep and what they want to remove. -- Goku
  12. Try using Internet Explorer. Also, does the problem persist if you disable Norton for sometime? -- Goku
  13. Thanks for your opinion Doug, we appreciate it. However, if you read the instructions carefully, then you will see that they are faulty due to my stupidity. I - er - forgot to change the second screen shot so both of them depict the same settings. Otherwise, I have set the Advanced settings considering the "novice user's" safety. I will correct it sometime later as I am a bit tired at the moment. Once again, thanks for bringing it to my attention. -- Goku
  14. Glad you found it useful. Don't mention to anyone that I used that lol. -- Goku
  15. Oh, I forgot about that; thanks for the amendment Randy. :) By the way Mara, here is FPCH's very own debate on the use of registry cleaners. You may want to peruse it to get a better picture. -- Goku
  16. Please do Mara but let us know the final results. :) -- Goku
  17. Bandya Beautiful music with heart warming lyrics. It is in Pujabi though. :) -- Goku
  18. Hello Mara. Your goodness and kind words embarasses me. I thank you for it. :) System slowdown can be caused by low disk space as well as a host of other problems so let us start with the basics; cleaning up disk space. The best disk space cleaning utility out there is CCleaner which, fortunately, is free too. It is very simple to use but if you like, you can use the instructions from here to guide your friend on the phone. If that doesn't resolve the problem, then we will move on to the next step i.e disk defragmentation. And by the way, there a host of applications that claim to do all PC maintenance tasks but they are as reliable as registry cleaners so it is better and safer to use individual disk maintenance applications. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  19. No, Mara don't use the program at any cost as it could make matters worse. The hype and good reviews you read in the market are published by the companies and their affiliates themselves. In fact, no registry cleaner is good so please remove the thought of using one. Here is the reason. Can you tell us what exact problem your friend is facing so we may try to look up a solution for her? Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  20. Video Button The Video button you are referring to is more commonly called the YouTube tag which has to be added manually into the vBulletin code. But the Administrators will look into your suggestion. As for the smiley, are you looking for . A more extensive list of smileys is available here. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  21. No, as these are not included in Service Pack 3. The unnecessary ones are those which are present both in your Add / Removes list and the list available here. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  22. No, mine is better. http://blogs.pcworld.com/tipsandtweaks/archives/computer.gif -- Goku
  23. Right click on the My Computer icon and select Properties. That should bring up the required information. Also, what is the make and model number of your computer? You might be missing the drivers. -- Goku
  24. Hello Handbaggirl. Press the Windows Logo + Print Screen|SysRq key on your keyboard. This should bring up the System Properties window. What does it say under the General tab? -- Goku
  25. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Geordie. :) Enjoy the Forums. -- Goku
