Fix Windows Audio.reg OK Marry, it is time to try Microsoft's last suggestion for a solution. Please download the attached archive and extract it. If you are unsure on how to open the archive, use the instructions from here and continue. After you have extracted the archive, you should obtain a file labeled Fix Windows Audio.reg. Double-click on the file and you will be asked whether you want to import the information into the registry or not. Answer Yes to the prompt and sometime later another dialog box will pop up informing you that the operation was successful. Reboot your computer. Note: Please backup your registry before you apply any of the above changes so that we can revert back your system to working condition if something goes awry. Is the sound restored? Let us know if it helps or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku

So we are back to square one. I think it is a hardware problem if the above fixes were unable to resolve your problem. 1. Click Start. 2. Select Run.... 3. Type services.msc in the Open: box and click OK. 4. In the corresponding Window, you will be presented with a list of services as shown below. Search for a service titled Event Log or something similar. http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/img/16333-1.gif 5. After you have located the service, right-click on it and select Properties. 6. In the Startup type: change the preference from Automatic to Disabled. Click Apply and then OK. 7. Reboot the computer. Try to shut down your computer and see if you still experience the problem or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku

How to make xlsx compatible with office 2003
Goku replied to a topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hello and Welcome to FPCH Rosaline. :) You are precisely there. Microsoft has released compatibility pack for Office 2003 and lower versions which can convert *.xslx files to *.xls. The pack can be downloaded from here. Alternately, you can use an online converter like Zamzar to convert the files if you want to convert the files occasionally / rarely. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku -

Hello Michael. I searched for your problem a bit and seems most people have resolved it by replacing the PSU (Power Supply Unit). There are many other possible solutions that you might want to try so here is a list of the most famous ones. Try them one by one and see if they help or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku -
Speed Up Shutdown OK Djaj, its time we venture into the registry to find a solution to your problem. Please download the attached archives and extract them. If you are unsure on how to open the archive, use the instructions from here and continue. After you have extracted the archive, you should obtain two files labeled Quick Shutdown.reg and Disable Dr. Watson.reg. Double-click on one at one time file and you will be asked whether you want to import the information into the registry or not. Answer Yes to the prompt and sometime later another dialog box will pop up informing you that the operation was successful. Repeat the process for the other file. Reboot your computer. Note: Please backup your registry before you apply any of the above changes so that we can revert back your system to working condition if something goes awry. Try to shutdown the computer now? Is there any difference. Let us know the results as soon as possible. :) -- Goku Disable Dr. Watson.zip Quick Shutdown.zip

Thanks for posting the solution Aaach. I am sure it will come in handy sometime later. By the way, I think that the file named NTLDR (New Technology Loader) must have been corrupted and that is why you received the error? Is this right? -- Goku

sigmatel sound drivers needed :(
Goku replied to Azzaahh's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
No, that is enough information to guess the correct driver. I think this is the driver you are looking for. If yes, please download the driver and install. Next, reboot your computer and check if the sounds are audible or not. One more word, the site I link will display useless ads asking you to scan with various products. Please ignore them and proceed with the download. Let us know how it goes though. Good Luck. :) -- Goku -

sigmatel sound drivers needed :(
Goku replied to Azzaahh's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hello Azz. What you ask for greatly depends on the model number of your sound card? Can you please post it if you know it or give us a hint to which driver you want exactly? My search brought me to this page where you can download the drivers for one of its models. Please provide us with the required information so that we may refine our results more efficiently. :) -- Goku -

Hello David. I searched for your issue a bit and found that it is a fairly common one though there is no definite fix for it. However, from the general consensus, the solution that has worked for most people is to update Windows XP through the Windows Update option and let it reinstall the failed updates. They say, that is the primary cause of the problem and that reinstalling the updates resolves it. By the way, how do you conclude that Windows XP Service Pack 3 is causing the slowdown / lag on your computer? Try the suggested solution and see if it helps or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
