  1. Fix No Flash Sound Then, it might be that your existing installation of Adobe Flash Player might have gone wrong or corrupted. Please try to reinstall the player and see if it helps the problem or not. If you are still encountering the problem, then please download the following archive and extract the file within it. Browse to the file and double-click on it. A prompt will pop-up saying if you want to import the value into the registry. Answer Yes to it and click OK on the subsequent prompt. Reboot the computer. See, if any of the above methods fix the problem or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  2. Hello Dorsil. I think Windows is automatically logging off after some period of inactivity on your computer. To resolve it, follow the instructions in the following article and see if it helps or not. How To Force Users to Quit Programs and Log Off After a Period of Inactivity in Windows XP The article gives the instructions to enable the setting so you need to change some of the instructions. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  3. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Rich. :) What video are you trying to view? Are you sure if it has sound embedded or not? It might be that the problem might just be the video and nothing else. -- Goku
  4. Well, perhaps a "trial version" actually refers to an unactivated copy of Windows here. If thats the case Pixel, then I think you will need to activate your copy of Windows using tne product key. I don't know the exact way of doing it as I have never used it myself but there must be an option in the Control Panel. A better option would be to reinstall Windows itself but as the CD drive is broken, I think you will probably need to buy a new one. So, if you really want the laptop working, invest in a compatible CD drive and then try to reinstall from it. That should probably overcome the obstacles you are facing. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  5. Here is some very good news. Following is the message, I received from my friend: Thank you very much Bonnie, Wolfey and GreyCell for your inputs. Any ideas on the second "problem"? I think the monitor is degaussing on boot but I will wait for your views on this. Once again, thank you very much for all your help. I really appreciate it. :) -- Goku
  6. Also, please don't start multiple threads regarding similar questions as they add to the number of posts needlessly. Thank you for your patience and co-operation. :) -- Goku
  7. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Robert. :) The above programs may interfere with Norton Internet Security and to tell you frankly, remove it because it is not that efficient as a Security Program. If you want to switch to a better and free alternative, consider Avira. I am sure you will like it. First, uninstall Norton and install Avira. Next, run a full scan with Avira AntiVir and then run the above steps. I am sure your problem will be definitely improved to some extent. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  8. Hello GreyCell and thanks for the input. Since he has recently been through an upgrade, I don't think advising him to further upgrade his RAM would be a good option for now. I will keep your suggestion in mind and post him back when he has resolved the problem. Once again, thanks for pointing that out. :) -- Goku
  9. Well, his screen resolution is set to 1024 x 768 and that is the highest he can attain. So, now I am advising him to realign the monitor or try and hook it up on another computer. I will let you know whatever happens. Thanks for the advice. :) -- Goku
  10. Bonnie, it happens only when he is trying to run a full screen application. If he realigns the monitor in full screen mode, won't his screen be realigned in normal mode too? :) -- Goku
  11. Wolfey, I asked the same question and am waiting for the answer. I will let you know as soon as he informs me of it. Bonnie, a dumb question, but how exactly do you realign and monitor? If possible, please post in in the form of step-by-step instructions so I may mail them directly to him. Thanks for your inputs. I really appreciate it. :) -- Goku
  12. I have a friend who is having some problems with his Graphics Card. Here is what his problem is like: Since I am no good with hardware issues, I know that asking you all be my best option. Any input is appreciated. :) -- Goku
  13. Its amazing how these programmers work to create such astounding infections! -- Goku
  14. I don't watch much sport too. Perhaps, a Cricket, Carrom, Pool or Tennis championship might interest me. For playing, its just Cricket and Football. If you count messing with the computer a sport, then include that in the list too! -- Goku
  15. The most I got from my computer was a minor shock as the surface was humid while I was trying to plug in an USB device. Other than that, minor shocks from a notebook computer are the norm for the day! :) -- Goku
  16. Well, since you used the Mad smiley as the header of your post, I thought you were being sarcastic. Please accept my apologies for the miscommunication caused. Glad you got it fixed. :) -- Goku

  22. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Moe. :) Is it a DVD / CD Combo drive? It should normally be written on the CD Drive. -- Goku
  23. This one shows how much man has been dependent on Google since the dawn of civilization! :) http://r9studio.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/10/1154524515-image001.gif -- Goku
  24. Hello Tony. As far as I know Windows XP gives you an option to leave the current partition intact when installing Windows, so you can always use that option if you want to save all your data. Such a kind of installation will probably also be similar to one you are thinking to achieve. The other and more safer option is to install Windows XP on a second hard drive or partition or if possible, even on a flash drive and boot from it. That way, you will be up and running to back all your important data and start afresh. I don't know if this makes sense or not so ask back if there is some confusion. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
