  3. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Goldie. :) I think its a bug in XP that is causing the memory leak? Have you obtained the latest Service Pack? If not, then I would recommend you to do so. Back to the problem, I think it can be probably solved by installing the Hotfix in the following article. You may receive a "The memory could not be read" error message when you click certain Web site links in Internet Explorer 6 If the above Hotfix does not solve the problem, then you might want to have a look at the following article. When you visit a Web page that uses a custom pop-up object, Internet Explorer 6 closes unexpectedly Let us know if it helps or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  4. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Maddog. :) The problem you stated is strange. However, I think that the computer might be having problems loading the Agp440.sys service. Try the steps provided in the following Knowledge Base article and see if it helps or not. Problems when Windows XP tries to load the Agp440.sys service Let us know how it goes. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  5. No, it does not work. Anyways, he has messed up his condition to something much more serious, so any more advice on that? -- Goku
  6. Sorry to jump in but I think it might have been a corrupt MBR. As you already have the problem resolved, I suggest you read this just to gain knowledge from the article in case the problem arises again. Computer stops responding with a black screen when you start Windows XP Good Luck with your new drive. :) -- Goku
  7. Hello Randy. He wants to dual boot XP with Vista. However, he installed XP on a second partition and is now unable to boot into Vista. As Vista doesn't use Boot.ini, I am out of ideas on what to do to get in Vista. Any ideas? :) -- Goku
  8. No problem, Ryder. Can you download the following file and place it in the following folder. Computer > System Drive > Windows > System32 xwtpw32.dll Download If there is a prompt for the replacement of the file, do so. Reboot. Try and connect to the internet now. Let us know if it helps or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  9. Thanks for the information Yankoz. Can you please download the following driver and see if installing it causes the problems or not. GeForce Release 175 Let us know how it goes. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  10. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Ryder. :) First and foremost, ensure that your Vista is fully updated. If you get the error when opening folders that contain video files, try this and see if it helps: Open Control Panel > Folder Options > Always show Icons, Never Thumbnails. Else, try to remember, when did this error start popping up. Was it after installing a particular program? Was it after installing, say, Nero ? If yes try this: Open Computer > System Drive > Program files > Common Files > Ahead > DSfilter. Rename NeroVideoProc.ax to say 1NeroVideoProc.ax and NeVideo.ax to say 1NeVideo.ax. Reboot. See if it fixes the problem or not You can also follow these steps to try and find out, which software is causing this issue: Type msconfig in Vista's search box and hit Enter to open up the System Configuration Utility window. Click on Services, and check in the Hide all Microsoft services checkbox. Click on Disable All button. Now click on Startup tab and then click on Disable All button again. Press OK button and then Restart button on the following window. Effectively, you have turned off all non-microsoft services and startups. If the issue is resolved, open System Configuration Windows again and then enable all the services from Services tab and then check the issue after restarting the computer in the same way as mentioned above. This way, you will have to enable / disable services and startups to narrow down on the culprit. This is a lengthy and painfully boring process, but it will help you identify the culprit. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  11. No Wolfey. Anyways, I am posting a copy of it just so that if Mathhew encounters the same problem as me. The simplest solution is as follows that works for most people. 1. Right click on Computer and choose Properties. 2. Click on Advanced System Settings and then under Advanced, click Settings. 3. Select the Data Execution Protection tab and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. 4. Click on the Add button and then browse to C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe as shown. 5. Click Open, and then OK. It should work fine after that. Let us know if it helps or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  12. Wolfey, I receive a Content Encoding Error. Does the link work with you? :) -- Goku
  13. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Yankoz. :) How much RAM do you have installed? Also, can you please specify your System Specifications so that we may rule out any hardware conflicts. Ways of locating hardware and other system specifications. How do I find my system specifications? Let us know them as soon as possible. :) -- Goku
  14. You are Welcome Ian. :) For your other problem, its a little tricky as you don't remember the correct Drive letters. However, read the following article from the Microsoft Knowledge Base and see if you can restore your Drive Letters to their default settings. How to restore the system/boot drive letter in Windows Let us know how it turns out. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  15. That is exactly what Eidos says, Denil. They cannot assure you that you won't have any problems in the game regardless of what stage you are in. The best you can do is to run it as an Administrator or downgrade to XP. See if running as Administrator helps the problem or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  16. Aidacuk, do exactly what Randy says as not being able to enter into the BIOS is not a very good omen. On the other hand, it might just be Windows XP. Read the following article to know more about it and how to troubleshoot the problem. Computer stops responding with a black screen when you start Windows XP Try the troubleshooting steps suggested and see if it helps or not. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  17. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Kop. :) For the given choices, I would recommend neither of them. Instead I would recommend Sunbelt Kerio than Comodo or Zone Alarm. I believe its a paid Firewall but after the 30 days of trial, it switches and works in a more restricted mode known as the Free Mode. Your best option among the three would be Kerio. :) -- Goku
  18. Hello Johnson. Can you please visit the following link and look up for the cause of your problem by counting the number of beeps you get? It would eliminate a lot of unnecessary Diagnostics Tests and Hardware Issues possibilities. If my computer beeps and fails to boot, what do the beeps mean? Let us know how it goes. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  19. Interesting find Doug. Here is a HijackThis log that I posted for analyssis. :) My HijackThis Log Results Looks fine to me for my log but the site's reference keys are not very good. Look at the last two guidelines and see what an inexperienced user might do ignorantly. :) -- Goku

  21. Can you post the links please Doug? :) I personally I think there would be a chance of inaccuracies as the advice might be canned and therefore might not always resolve the "victim's" problem. -- Goku
  22. I believe you will have to buy a new Windows XP CD if you don't have one currently. Thats because it will not only come in handy in your present condition but also on many future occasions. If you already have a disk, then can you please try repairing the Boot Sector and the Master Boot Record. :) Repair and Restore Master Boot Record (MBR) Let us know if it works or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
  23. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Bonekyn. :) I have moved your thread to the appropriate Forum so that it gets more attention. Also, please bear with us till our experts get online and guide you through your problem. Thank you for your peace and co-operation. :) -- Goku
  24. This means that even though you are connected, then you don't have any balance in your internet account or your subscription has ended. I get the same error message here if that is the condition. Can you please check with your ISP for the balance in your account? :) -- Goku
  25. Sorry for the inconvenience all as I just did a reformat and am back. Completed all within an hour with all the drivers. The machine is running smoothly now.
