Yes Wolfey, that is the complete log and that too in Normal mode. As I said, I have very low System Specifications and cannot afford to run many programs. I will be happy enough to run more when I have a computer with higher specifications. :) -- Goku

Unfortunately, I can't download anything Maynard and therefore I am not in a state to run Malwarebytes or SUPERAntiSpyware. Can you just verify if a simpler tool will be able to remove it or better yet, if a format will remove it. As I said, I am already due for a format and therefore shall do it if needed. :) -- Goku

Well, it seems that I have got infected. Yesterday, during my scheduled scan in Avira, it found a Trojan but was unable to remove it for some reason. I tried again on boot but Avira was still unable to remove it. The file shows in the log too. I cannot download anything unless its a *.zip file so please post any recommended removal tools as attachments. I would find a tool myself but I am unable to search for anything for now. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 2:23:16 PM, on 6/20/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP3 (6.00.2900.5512) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\sched.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avgnt.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avguard.exe D:\Downloads\Avira AntiVir Removal Tool 3.0.1.16.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe D:\Downloads\HijackThis 2.0.2 (Executable).exe O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53C5DF30-5878-4596-8498-D4B59957776B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\fccdecDw.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BE7E4CE1-8CBA-44A6-956F-462A667D3286} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\urqQiFWP.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [avgnt] "C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avgnt.exe" /min O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bMcf834d5e] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\nrirnwiw.dll",s O20 - Winlogon Notify: urqQiFWP - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\urqQiFWP.dll O23 - Service: Adobe LM Service - Adobe Systems - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe Systems Shared\Service\Adobelmsvc.exe O23 - Service: Avira AntiVir Personal – Free Antivirus Scheduler (AntiVirScheduler) - Avira GmbH - C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\sched.exe O23 - Service: Avira AntiVir Personal – Free Antivirus Guard (AntiVirService) - Avira GmbH - C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avguard.exe -- End of file - 1785 bytes -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let me know if it can be cured or not as I am already due for a format. Effective Communications Via Email Or Public Forums

Pete, if you wrote out the article all by yourself, then you are a very good writer. :) I like your posts as they are very informative but your writing style is a little different and therefore is a little hard to get used to. When you put an end after 60 characters, I have to concentrate on the next line rather than what my eyes are used to. I lose my concentration in reading as I have to strain on the next line while retaining the information in the first line. After a while, we do get used to it but still it is somewhat of an annoyance. On the other hand, the paragraph tip is very useful and I use it very much, ever since I first learned English. For the font type, I normally use Times New Roman or MS Sans. I sometimes use Arial depending on the format of the text but Times New Roman is my preferred type. I don't know what font I am using here but I like the Forum default very much. :) As for the above example, the lower sample is definitely more easy on the eyes. Just my opinions on your different queries. :) -- Goku -
Windows Xp Start Up Loop Help!! :(
Goku replied to fab4boothy's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I think that the Kernel32.dll file is damaged. To correct this, perform the following instructions provided in the Knowledge Base article. Windows XP logon screen does not appear and the computer continuously restarts Let us know if it helps or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku -
Thats the problem with Vista, Randy. If you store it in a specific location, it is only then that it will be able to find all kinds of pictures. What if I stored it on another partition of the drive? I don't really think it would be able to do a full file search then. I have not used Vista much as I didn't like its interface. I will try again later when I have more time or at least a better PC to play with. :) -- Goku
-
But what if you want to search for a particular type of file regardless of its extensions. Suppose, I want to search for a picture but can't remember its extension. Does Vista provide an option to search all the pictures on my computer regardless of extensions or do I need to skim through searches by asking for each extension? :) -- Goku

Windows Xp Start Up Loop Help!! :(
Goku replied to fab4boothy's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hello and Welcome to FPCH Boothy. :) It seems that the Operating System is corrupted or more importantly the Boot.ini is corrupted. Do you see any Blue Screen or error message before the computer restarts or does it restart without any warning. Also, do you have your Windows XP disk? Please answer the questions as soon as possible. :) -- Goku -
Ha ha. You can put up one too saying: By the way, how do you like Windows Live Mail. :) -- Goku
-
Seth, if you are having problems with Windows Mail in Vista, then you might want to consider switching to Windows Live Mail. Its more like Outlook Express but is much more stable and may also help you get rid of your annoyances. Let us know if you use it. :) -- Goku
-
Wolfey, I think that Seth means to search for a particular type of extensions. -- Goku

I think the error code is the main cause of you problem. Have a look here. FIX: You receive an "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" error message when you stop or pause a managed Windows service Install the recommended hotfix and try to restart the service. See if it helps or not. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck. :) -- Goku

Hello and Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help Mav. :) As Randy and Maynard have already said, we need some more information to recognize and diagnose your problem. A good start would be to provide us with your System Specifications and any error message you receive prior to the Shutdown / Restart. Ways of locating hardware and other system specifications. Post them as soon as you can. :) -- Goku

Not mundane Doug. :) Its just that Firefox is a customizable browser so it is meant to be customized by each user according to his / her own preference. That is why I told you to choose your own set of add-ons so that they enriched your surfing experience. If you want, then you can have Adblock Plus. I count it as an essential as it helps block up useless popups. Then you have the add-on called No Script which blocks all malicious scripts and thus helps prevention of malware. The only problem with No Script is that it also blocks YouTube's scripts and therefore you have to tweak it a lot. Counting that you already have McAfee Site Advisor, Avira, Spyware Blaster, Adblock Plus and Mozilla Firefox 3.0 armed with your safe surfing habits, I doubt if you need anything else to secure yourself. All you need are add-ons to enrich your experience which I am afraid, you will have to choose yourself as I do not know what your preferences are. In the end, choose whatever you like as you have to suit yourselves. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku

Glad we could help Jim. Feel free to ask any questions or doubts you may have. :) -- Goku

Good thoughts Doug. Just read the description under the add-ons and you will know if you need it or not. A very good decision on the whole. :) -- Goku

Vista Boot Problem, PC Freezes During boot up.
Goku replied to Swickle09's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hello and Welcome to FPCH Swickle. :) Have you tried checking the Hard Drive for any errors? As you said the drive is new, so there is not much probability of any damage but it might be a bad boot sector. Try to perform a check disk and see if it helps or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku -
Hello and Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help Aidacuk. :) Have you tried entering the BIOS? If not, then try it by pressing the F2, Delete or F10 key during the Logo screen. When the Compaq logo flashes, there will be an instruction that will say something like: Press the required key and find the setting that configures the Boot order. Set it so that it looks like the following. 1. Hard Drive. 2. CD / DVD Drive. 3. Floppy Drive / External Drive. Save the BIOS settings and reboot. See if it helps resolving the problem or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku

Just use the can for cleaning under current circumstances. We will talk of cleaning procedures by opening the case after you have done so. Please let us know the results as soon as possible. :) -- Goku -
You wiil find the instructions on making your Ultimate Boot CD from here. How to Build the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows The instructions on using various applications included can be found in the included documentation. I am sorry that I couldn't help you with the password since its against our policies to provide solutions to password problems regardless of the motive. Let us know the results as soon as possible. :) -- Goku
-
You need the password for the Administrator account from whoever set it up. Unfortunately, we cannot help you with lost or forgotten passwords as they are a part of our policies. You can either choose to know the password from the person who set up your Operating System or choose a third party utility like Ultimate Boot CD to scan your Boot sectors. Any of the above options is preferable and equally reliable. Let us know what you decide. :) -- Goku
-
Then enter the number 1 so that it can log in into that installation of Windows. After that, you will be asked for your Administrator password. Type in so and then continue with Seth's instructions. Hope that helps. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
-
Hello and Welcome to FPCH Noobz. :) You have to take the option C:\. Just enter the drive letter on which you have Windows installed. :) -- Goku
