Sorry as we lost it in midst of things Praveen. Seth will be here and have a look at it soon. Sorry for the inconvenience. :) -- Goku -
Thats a part of their business strategy so that you are forced to buy their products only. A very dirty trick to nag customers but there is a work around as I have shown you. Again, I am glad that I could help you. Please feel free to ask any questions or doubts that surface. :) -- Goku

Yes John. Many many happy returns of the day. Hope you also get your Operating System's installation problem solved today. :) -- Goku

Did you experience this problem, anytime later again? Or has it stopped after the incident? I tried to search regarding your problem but it came up with nothing significant. I believe that the beeps and the lapse were caused because the BIOS was probably identifying the hardware change or modification. :) -- Goku
-
Let us know when you have done it. :) Note: When you take out the battery, all BIOS settings will be restored to defaults. Therefore, you might have to configure some settings manually like the Boot Order again. -- Goku

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Useless@PC's. :) I think Allheart has hit the nail right on the head. Though the link might only apply to Windows Media Player 10, the cause of the problem might be same. Please try to lower your hardware acceleration for your sound card and see if that helps or not. :) -- Goku

Sorry for my poor example Bowler. Let me clear myself. :) First log on your Desktop computer and configure the settings so that they show the hidden extensions of files. After this has been done, please highlight the file named Ebay on your Desktop and see what is the extension of the file. That should normally be the last three or four letters after the dot. Note this extension down. Now log on to your Laptop, rename the file and put the same extension you noted down behind the Ebay file on your laptop. Then try opening the file. This should be able to solve the problem. Please let us know the results as soon as you can. :) -- Goku

Thanks for the Welcome Cindy. I just joined recently, a week ago. Thanks for the belated Welcome though. :) -- Goku

Well, you would definitely need another key to install XP on another computer. As far as I remember, Microsoft exempts you and you can install XP with the same CD on three different computers. The PC specifications you put are appropriately high and should run most games without any problems. :) -- Goku

With specifications like that, Windows XP should run smooth as butter. Ask here if you want some advice on its installation or some questions regarding its use. :) -- Goku

Hello and Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help Produce. :) In the choice of the three processors in option, I think your best choice would be the third one because: 1. It has the higher clock speed. 2. It has the highest capability. 3. It has the same processor as the speed. Given your choices, the third one would definitely be a preference over the other two and you should experience a significant boost in your performance too. However, the hardware experts will soon review your thread as soon as they are online and will give you their own opinion. Please bear with us till they are here. Thank you for your patience and your co-operation. :) -- Goku

Sorry for the delay Peugeotianin as I was away for a while. From the error message you state, it seems that there seems to be some problem in the BIOS configuration. Try and restore it to default settings by pulling out the CMOS battery. Leave the battery out for fifteen minutes and then put it back in. That should hopefully reset the BIOS settings and fix the problem too. :) A stupid question - but are you using a Dell computer? Please post back the results and the answer as soon as possible. :) -- Goku

No harm done Wolfey as his requirements must be higher than mine and I am running Service Pack 3. If he has ordered a new CD, he must recieve Service Pack 3 in the bargain. Lets see how he likes it. :) -- Goku

Sorry for the lapse D4VE as I was away for a while. Anyways, back to topic, I think that the file I suggested above is the cause of the nag. Disable it by unchecking the box next to it and restart the computer. See if the nag is still there or not. Also, for safety reasons, you might also want to remove the utility. It is known as ISBMgr. You can uninstall it through the Add / Remove Programs list. Just search for ISBMgr in the list and click the Remove button next to it. However, I don't recommend this unless the first method fails to remove the nag. Please post back the results as soon as possible. :) -- Goku

A decision you will not regret John. I do not know what sytem specifications you have but if they are better than these, then you should have no problems with Windows XP. :) Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3, Intel Pentium III Processor 551 MHz 128 MB RAM 18.6 GB SATA Hard Drive If they are lower than these, then you won't be able to run XP. If they are higher than that, then you are in for a treat. :) -- Goku

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Patch. :) I experienced the problem once too when it would verify the number of bytes in RAM and then freeze. In that case, it was caused by a loose Keyboard cable. Please check and see if the cable is tight or not. Also, if any cable is loose, please put it firmly and see if it helps the problem or not. Post back the results as soon as possible. Good Luck. :) -- Goku

D4VE, can you also please give me an account of the currently running processes on your Vaio? Also, can you confirm if there is something like isbutility in your Startup? Here is how to check it. 1) Click on Start. 2) From the Start Menu Options, choose Run. 3) Type msconfig and click Ok. This will bring up System Configuration Utility. 4) In the System Configuration Utility, click the tab called Startup. http://www.monkeydoit.com/content_images/system_config.gif Post back the results as soon as possible. :) -- Goku

I believe it will show itself on every boot and therefore you will need to ignore it too. However, if the error message you stated above is completely new, then it might be much more serious. Please wait till I research the problem and any possible solutions. :) -- Goku

Another AOL connection problem...
Goku replied to Jonny5isalive's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Well, I don't usually advise to do a reformat for such small issues but seeing your desperation, I think it would be the right choice for you. Firstly, you need to back up any file or folder you consider important on a safe location so that you may restore it after the format. After you have done a reformat, all Windows settings will be restored to default and therefore you must not experience the connectivity problems stated above. However, I would rather suggest that you wait for our Networking Specialist (Kelly) to have a look at it and know his take on it. He might be able to suggest you some solution that might save you a big load of trouble. Just hang in there till he comes and reviews your position. Good Luck. :) -- Goku -
