Thanks for sharing this recipe, Wolfeymole! Since I've never seen either "4 birds eye chilli's chopped (or scotch bonnet if you want it to blow your head off) ... one could just buy 4 of the long red fresh chili peppers and use that instead? And do you use the seeds or discard them, I wonder?

Yipee, I can plan my imaginary itinerary now - April in Australia, June in India! Gosh, I wish we still traveled as I've love to be heading out on the first place leaving on the 1st of April! (Especially since I've always been one of the lucky ones - never, ever had a lousy vacation in any Country! Rarely did my luggage accompany me - but from the stickers on my suitcase from so many Countries I wasn't heading to, it had a wonderful trip too, thanks to the various air lines - huge grin). Canada is a great Country to visit in the Winter if one loves to ski or snowboard, etc - and other than getting rained on most any time, it's honestly got lots to offer during all months.

Thanks for letting me know - I'll add it to my grocery list! The recipe really does sound good and I'm excited about trying it.

This is something our friends and family love so perhaps it's something others may like as well. Lemon and Poppy Seed Dressing 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest 1 tablespoon poppy seeds 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 - 1/3 liquid honey 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1. Place all ingredients in a small container with lid 2. Shake until thoroughly blended Can be kept in fridge for up to 10 days - always shake well before using. Usually I just make a large individual salads for everyone ... fresh assorted lettuces, baby spinach leaves ... tiny cherry tomatoes ... sometimes adding chopped fresh carrots, celery or other fresh veggies that are in season. For our meat eaters, I add lots of fresh cooked large shrimp and a broiled sliced chicken breast ... and serve it with fresh crusty bread and lots of icy cold white wine - ta da, a quick lunch or dinner for family and friends. And thanks so much for sharing the recipe, Guko - it sounds great and I'll make it next week - yipee! Have one question if I may, please ... re: 1/2 tsp Garam Masala... is this a paste or perhaps in powder form? Thanks!

Or the ones that leave a message but you get that high pitched screech just before you can leave your message - eek! But although I'd heard of this before and always considered it a joke, when I phoned a friend, her little one picked up the phone. I asked if her mommy was there, please ... and she said, "Yes" - and then hung up.

Oh Randy, I'm still laughing as I just read my husband your response to what 'Spam' is - and he's still looking green remembering "the mushy stuff squished together in a can that was globs of yellow solid fat stuck on it" - huge laugh!
-
Am literally trying to comprehend how one actually can breathe in temperatures as high as 50 degrees! Egad!!! ('d love to travel to India and other hot Countries but someone would have to develop a 'super doper' sun block for me as I blister right through white cotton clothing!).
-
Would love it if you'd share some recipes of your favourite dishes, Goku - especially Chhole, please! Oh dod, I just realized you said "tripe", Plastic Nev! Darn near brought me to tears just seeing the word and remembering thinking (and still believing) that cow tummy linings would simply never ever pass my lips again if I ever lived long enough to become an adult! (And I had my serious doubts after eating so much of the 'traditional English food' as a kid - huge laugh!). Of course, my poor husband still has nightmares about the 'Spam' in a can that his mother used to serve them when he was a kid. I escaped that but how bad can it be compared to some of these other culinary 'delights'! :)

Oh dear, I am literally laughing aloud as I'm afraid it is pretty gross! My mother used to have the largest pot humanly possible .. and into it went the washed head (yes, head of the pig) and often the feet too (without the actual hooves) with enough water to just cover it. It was brought to a boil and then simmered for hours ... with subsequent 'scum' floating on top of the water and a very distinctive smell that used to make me want to run for cover!! Then the mess would get drained and she'd pick through that gross stuff for the 'meat' ... mix it with spices and some other stuff ... and then press it into molds similar to bread pans. And yup, when it cooled, there'd be a coating of congealed fat coating the entire thing. It was chilled and sliced and served as luncheon meat - or dod forbid to a kid, fried and served as a treat for dinner. Feel free to gag, Wolfeymole, I surely used to!
-
What happened to the fried tomatoes? Gotta have them for a proper English breakfast surely? :) Oh gracious, that black pudding brings back memories of my sitting at the table for hours until I ate every bit of it from my plate - eek! Actually used to like it until seeing it made (ugh and eek!) - and now it's right up there with head-cheese and haggis - huge laugh! Goku, what is the breakfast please? I recognize the pan bread, I think ... since we moved a few months ago, I can only dream of our favourite restaurant that served traditional East Indian food - loved it! (To show you how much I miss it - the gentleman who built our house immigrated here from India and I was tempted to beg him to take us home for a meal - huge smile!).

Wonder if everyone carries gallons of water and a pot holder in their car - for those times when the radiators in their cars protest mightily to the heat?

I've pulled my little black box closer to the front of the tower so I'll have faster access to it should disaster start to strike - either from a nasty hidden away within a program when installing or when one inadvertently hits one of the web pages that looks so innocent yet is created by a nasty and repulsive human. (Haven't had one of the latter happen since I started with trusty SiteHound, thankfully). It's wonderful to learn so much and I thank all of you! -

Oh dear, I'm sitting here mentally cringing just reading the words, " cut power to your PC but that is a sure way to damage your hard drive", as that's what I did yesterday - kept trying to use the manual shut-off button on the side of the computer tower - eep! Re: "wireless network switch", "ethernet" and "routers" ... am going to have to confess a bit more of my computer ignorance here, beeceebee - gentle laugh - as hmmm. I'm connected by Cable (using the same system our telephone runs on) so we have a quick connection, etc ... and there is a little box plugged in and sitting on my desk called, "DSL-3001 D-Link" (that has tiny green lights on it). Is that little box any of the above you mentioned, I wonder? -

I've written down the 'escape' advise, DSTM - and thanks so much as I must confess I have a few tense moments yesterday. Did discover one thing, though ... when scanning any program prior to installing, they don't tell one if there is an additional 'bundled' program sitting inside somewhere. Drat and gentle smile. And you're right, Randy - a program who's site/writer has vanished isn't going to be there for support later, unfortunately. What I was trying to do was find a substitute program for my lovely old 'Corel Print House 4'. While I never used it for actually editing images, it was the loveliest thing ... it allowed me to create a 'blank' of any shape, size I wanted ... to import images/photos ... add text anywhere on the page ... and then either save/print page or sent it instantly to anyone in my email address book. It worked perfectly (even though an old program) in my XP and although it still does everything else it did before, the moment I changed from my trusty Netscape Browser to FireFox - poof, no more sending via emails. Even tried downloading Netscape once again for just this purpose, but nope, the 'send by email' section is no longer working. Would love to find something similar - and easy to use, of course :), if possible. - - - - It's my fault, I think. DirtyPolo ... I normally restrict myself to a few sites only that offer free/shareware/purchased programs - and while I thought this one was going to be similar, hmmm. Rather than condem the site, though, I sent a gentle message saying there appeared to be a 'ride along with' attached with their particular download of that photo program. Couldn't help but think there's a huge chance they are not aware of it - and this could be the reason our DSTM got a 'clean' version from the site he chose and I didn't from this particular download site. -
Oh dear, I thought I'd killed my poor computer and worse, it would entirely be my own fault. I went to what I thought was a reputable download site, downloaded a trial version of a photo editing program called 'Photo Finale 4'. Scanned it with my anti bug programs and the anti-malware one and all seemed well. When installing, although the name showing on the installation box matched above, suddenly it changed to something called: 'Network Magic'. Installing wouldn't stop nor would my 'Esc' on keyboard end it either. Computer instantly tried to connect to 'Network Magic' on net ... froze but finally got screen to close. Used my trusty Revo Uninstaller ... took forever but most parts of it seem to have been uninstalled but not all ... and I was left with the below images on the desktop. Computer wouldn't reboot or shut down ... turned it off manually and it still wouldn't shut down ... tried reaching Start>Restore Point and it was frozen ... kept retrying to shut computer off manually and it finally worked. Waited 3 minutes and turned it back on but it wouldn't load my home page, etc and I still had the below images showing on my screen. Finally Restore worked and all seems to be okay. But that said, may I please ask something. What on earth is 'Network Magic' - a bug or something, I wonder? And how does one stop a program from loading/installing if the normal 'cancel' button doesn't work, nor does the 'Esc' on the keyboard, please? (I honestly am as careful as possible when downloading and installing but obviously I messed up somewhere badly with this one - eep!).

Yipee, someone that speaks 'my' language - I understand wilst perfectly - huge smile! From the moment I booted my new computer (Sony Vaio) it was loud - and no laughing please when I confess I had no idea it must have been the fan that was the cause - gentle grin. Now my noisy computer actually does me a favour - for when it changes from just plain noisy to sounding like a small jet engine trying to take off, I know it's time to take the poor thing apart and clean it thoroughly. May I ask another question about fans/computers, please? Realize fans are to keep the computer's brain from overheating ... but surely they would have an easier time if both sides of the computer tower were open (with those wee holes), than just one side?

I live in an area of Canada that is renowned for it's rain fall and gray dismal days with that wet stuff dumping on us is nearly enough to turn us moldy at times ... but I wouldn't trade it for the beastly hot temperatures you've got right now, DSTM - egad!! (Just thinking about your temperatures is enough to make my freckles start to come out and my skin to blister - eep!). Do realize that likely most people have central air conditioning in their houses and surely also air conditioning in their cars ... but how on earth does one survive if unlucky enough to have neither, I wonder?
-
Isn't it awful when one is caught, as they say, between a 'rock and a hard place' - but you did well, DSMT - and I'm so pleased the dratted thing is finally fixed and may you never have another problem with it!!! And while this isn't meant to 'slam' those that build computers, for people like us that simply want a computer with no woes and perhaps have the RAM upgraded, it's easier mentally to just buy a pre-made one from a reputable computer store, I think.

Did see anyone American Carol?
Mara replied to jjwalker45's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Haven't seen it but perhaps you'd been kind of enough to review it here for us, once you've seen it, jjwalker45? -
Yes, and thanks so much again, our Wolfey ... I'd just noticed that there apparently hadn't been a post made actually answering the members question ...and I love to learn stuff, too. Thanks again, kind man!
-
Ah, yes! Isn't it amazing that we nearly always 'get where we're going' with these computers - but sometimes the journey there is enough to make us grind our teeth - gentle smile. Here, you will find the loveliest of skilled and kind people - do hope you enjoy it here too, Reg!

Hi Casey - it's lovely to have you join us!:)

Please forgive me for popping into this thread but I too am wondering about what causes a case fan to only work when a computer boots. Thanks so much!

Hi Richard, and welcome! I smiled when reading your words, "some experience in computers and have built 3 of them to date" ... gracious, being able to build computers is wonderful!!

Just thought I'd pop back in to say that my friend's computer is now running wonderfully! Thank you!!!!!!!
