  6. when I cut&paste any file with .ANI extention from a remote vista or server 2008 to a local XP using remote desktop about 3k of data is appended at the end of the file making it unreadable. did anybody else experience the same issue? I thought it was just a network problem while it was happening when I was using rdp through internet but now I verified it also happens on a local LAN. I've put the ANI files inside my application resources but this issue is still rather annoying. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
  7. Yep, I know this news is a couple of days old. It seems like NBC is now going to put some of its hit shows (The Office BSG, etc.) on Zune, instead of iTunes. This should be a major coup for Microsoft and its Zune. Problem is, I have not seen ANY marketing about this from Microsoft. And if this flops, NBC will likely move elsewhere. So, why haven't we heard anything from Microsoft? I haven't seen any "Now available at Zune.net" at the bottom of NBC shows like I used to see "Now available on iTunes". So, do you think Microsoft will take advantage of this? Will we see more marketing? Will we see anything? Will it flop, as I think it will? Just wondering what your thoughts are. More... 8. Does anyone know how to perform an aggregate string concatenation in Microsoft Access without using a VBA module? I want pure SQL. Across columns of a table is easy. Ex: People Id* Name* Dob 1** John**1/2/1975 2** Bob** 1/2/1975 3** Tim** 5/7/1955 MS Access SQL: SELECT p.Id, (p.Name & ' ' & p.Dob) AS Person FROM People p I have no idea how I would go about concatenating rows. Does anyone have experience with that? Ex: Get a comma-delimited list of people with the same birthday Results should look like this: Dob*******People 1/2/1975* John, Bob 5/7/1955* Tim Thanks for the help. More... 10. I have an H:/MUSIC on my home computer and I just got a new 1TB external where I'm going to make a MUSIC folder as well, so I can take the drive to work. Is there a good program where, if I add music at home in my MUSIC folder, or even if I see an error and I clean up an mp3 tag on the external at work, and I take my external home on the weekend, for them to sync the 2 folders up so they're the same? Whether it's a new folder in my home computers MUSIC folder*that needs to go over, or a single*mp3 on the external that needs to be synced to the home computer. Nice if it's automatic too....plug in external, turn on the switch in the back and it keeps them in sync. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  13. Hello! :) I talked with my friends for a while and runs into the news that WinXP SP3 will be released to WindowsUpdate soon. We know that Microsoft has the tradition of selling service-pack-slipstreamed Windows CD to the latest SP level, but as we all know, Microsoft will stop supplying OEM license for WinXP soon. So it come to the question that if we were buying new PC with WinXP next month, will we get the SP3 versiopn of install disc? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  18. I rent one of my dedicated servers from IPower (back when they were good, mind you). But after this experience I'm thinking of switching. Recently IPower decided to start charging my card an extra $12 a month. Not much, but enough to make me sit up and take notice. But conversly, I noticed my "Future Invoices" list on my billing page said my November 2008 bill would be only $25 (wtf). Here's how the conversation went: Hi, I recently noticed that iPower has been charging my card more than before. In the past iPower regularly debited my card once every three months, but recently I've seen two additional smaller payments made every month since Februrary 2008. On my invoices/receipts page (which only has records from November 2007) I see you're debiting me $12 every month on top of the existing fee I pay. Since my account is debited with GBP (rather than USD) and the exchange rate fluctuates a bit I cannot tell if you've reduced the main monthly rate and charge this to compensate, or just charging me more anyway. Also, I notice the future payment due on the 17th of November 2008 is only $25 rather than the usual $xxxx. Can you explain this too? Thanks ----------------------------------- Hello, Thank you for contacting Support. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I have checked your account and noticed that we have charged your credit card for the amount $12.00 for ‘Windows OS for Dedicatedon’ on April, 17, 2008. However, the next due date for your hosting plan ‘Dedicated User’ is due on August, 17, 2008. You can view billing status of your account through the link: http://members.ipower.com/member/BillingConsole/billingConsole.bml . If you have any further questions, please update the ticket with more information so that we can assist you further. Sincerely, Mario Rogers Customer Support ------------------------------------------- I haven't been charged $12 monthly before, if this is a case of iPower over-charging me I will file a chargeback with my bank. I need to know *why* iPower has started charging me monthly. I also want to know why the November 2008 payment is only $25. ---------------------------------------------- Hello, Thank you for following up with us. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I have checked your account and noticed that we have charged your credit card for the amount $12.00 for ‘Windows OS for Dedicated’ on April, 17, 2008 and $xxx.00 for ‘Dedicated User’ on February, 17, 2008. If you do not want ‘Windows OS for Dedicated’ product, we can cancel it. Once this product gets canceled, your credit card will not be charged further for this product. Could you please forward us with the exact URL of the page where it shows the next payment is due for the amount $25? Please reply to this e-mail with the requested information, so that we can assist you further. Sincerely, Mario Rogers Customer Support --------------------------------------------- I'm afraid you haven't provided the required information. I asked *why* I'm now paying more per month than before. And *why* the November fee is only $25 rather than $xxx. ----------------------------------------------- Hello, Thank you for following up with us. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I have checked your account and noticed that we have charged your credit card for the amount $147.00 for ‘Dedicated User’ on November 11, 2007. 19. Does anyone use both the Zune and iTunes software routinely? I don't have iTunes installed (since I don't have an iPod), but do have the Zune software installed. Can anyone who uses both at least somewhat casually give me a compare/contrast? I'm not looking for Fanboi's per se. I really would like to know "what's the difference" without having to install iTunes. Does one give me something the other doesn't? Can I see other people's songs recently played on iTunes? Any personal preference in the UI? Thanks! Rdaja More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  22. Hey guys, I have been reading up on DirectShow in these forum posts, and I have learned quite alot.* But there seems to be no questions asked regarding passing raw data (byte array, etc) into DirectShow.* Basically, putting parts of a movie into a byte array/another type of buffer, and passing it into DirectShow everytime there is more data available.* I was wondering how this could be done? Also, can DirectShow play HTTP streams? (Example: http://www.blah.com/blah.avi) Any help would be great and much appreciated! :D More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
