  2. Also wanted to let everyone know we (Electric Rain) also just released Swift 3D v5.0 which supports Silverlight based XAML. Swift 3D now exports Silverlight frame-by-frame animation in the 2D XAML format (simulating 3D effects). This is what Flash has done for all these years. The XAML files can then be used in Expression Blend as a design element of a larger Silverlight Project. For more information see the link below: http://www.erain.com/products/swift3d/silverlight/ BTW - The XAML files created with Swift 3D is*actually pre-rendered 2D frame-by-frame animations (simulating 3D effects), while*ZAM 3D, produces actual 3D XAML for true 3D interactivity with WPF applications. 3. arg!* (rant warning) so i have a regular 30$ logitech mouse.. was fine for months - all of a sudden - the right button doesnt really work (need to really click hard) so.. i thought - ill grab ye ol stand by - the MS OEM 20$ mouse. I have used these off and on for years - and though they are cheap they have always worked great. Grab it - plug it in... for some reason - the cursor continually disappears and goes to far left of the screen (huh) i have 3 monitors so that means - looking to find the cursor..oh there it is..slide slide slide ...back to left monitor.. After a week i got tired of this (and was rather disturbed*an old standby was no good anymore. Was at Staples (again) and saw new MS 100$ super ergo wireless 6000 mouse.* Felt great in hand so i got it.. (hey whats a hundered bucks for a great mouse you use every day) Plugged it in... it lasted 4 minutes before i went back to the logitech BROKEN mouse.. The wireless thing just*wasnt responsive enough... it would take a milisecond to respond - and by then your hand had moved - so the cursor would jump across screens.. I went to control panel / mouse to try to fix it (you know thats bad if you even have to go there) ... tried faser...slower... none worked..it was just laggy. The best mouse (mice) i have ever used came from MS - namely - the first ergonomic one - hard, heavy plastic with a ball *yes the ball got dirty but it worked.* Perfect tracing around images in photoshop... the new one not only lagged but was so light and cheap plastic it just couldnt go straight. Im sure no one at MS hardware is interested in going back in time to make a proper mouse that works - but anything would be better than the 100$ mouse i just got - that was literally un-usable. Enjoy the 100$ ms! *ok thats enough threads for today ...sorry :p More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

  5. Some of the brains behind MIX08 went for drinks and discussion with me to talk about what’s new, what’s hot and what’s not about the upcoming consumer web conference happening once again in Vegas at the Venetian hotel on March 5-7, 2008. Why is Steve Ballmer keynoting? What’s the scoop with Guy Kawasaki? Do we really care about designers or is it a developer world? Will Microsoft have anything new to say? What’s the scoop with Silverlight? What's the*difference between MIX and PDC (and TechED for that matter)? Who should attend MIX? Why?* Be a fly on the wall and watch the conversation with the MIX team (forgive the lighting . . . it’s a little dark . . . we were in a real bar after all on a dark, rainy Seattle night). Then go and register at http://visitmix.com/2008 and take Thomas Lewis up on his offer for a free drink in Vegas! Enjoy. Lot's of candid info about MIX in this one. 6. the only thing i ever buy online is photos for work (getty/corbis) but recently ive switched to istockphoto ( one 10th the price) ive never really ordered anything from amazon.. or other online retailers until this month. "clara" wanted a "3 foot barbie" (not available in canada) and my best friend had a baby called Madeline - just like the book... searched all over.. the only place to get a madeline doll*was online..people (not stores) so both of these purchases were done through craigslist and ebay (buy now) and istockphoto has basically surplanted corbis/getty To me online shopping just means what online music gathering is... =* NO upside for HMV - but perhaps for indie musicians or people.. Do you buy stuff online all the time - or only when what you want isnt available otherwise..AND.. when you do RISK buying online.. is it usually from people - not huge big box stores (you could easily go to?)* Just seems - to me - buying online = bad for big business / but good for small sellers ? 7. I'm looking for any help I can get here.* I made a very simple web project.* It has four pages.* I then added a web setup project to my solution and added the primary output and content. When I right click on the setup project and say build the main project builds but the setup project fails.* As far as I can tell, it just says 1 built and 1 failed.* I cannot even find a reason WHY it failed. HINTS?!* Anybody know where I can even look to get more info about what failed? Thank you - oh masters of web setup projects. More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

  11. The Microsoft Development Center in Copenhagen (MDCC) recently held it's second TechFest. Each year (this is year two of TechcFest) the good folks at MDCC put on a show where local (Denmark and other northern European countries) innovators show off their wares. I was lucky enough to spend a day learning about some of the great things small ISVs and scholars are creating on Microsoft and non-Microsoft development platform stacks. Here, we learn about a very interesting WPF-based application called CrimeScener. What does it do? Well, tune in and find out. Better watch out, criminals... 19. there is a whole display of these at staples.. - all 200$ or more - a couple of tacky small ones for around 100$ - all designs/frames look really bad Why doesnt ms bring out one - sold at cost (yes cost) that is good looking, large and cool. after a year - raise the price. its a cool idea - that partners are messing up (gross frames, logos on front!, plastic-ey, small, huge borders... just thinking - like xbox - subsidize them till people know what they are.. I think they are cool - but youd have to be crazy to buy any of the current "designs" ? edit- *also - certain flat screen monitors that are 8 x 10 or larger are avail for under 200$..* the HD is a memory stick - so no cost there..
