Something else to keep an eye out for. When you look on ebay be sure to notice whether you are getting an American or a UK keyboard. Often the UKs are harder to find and may cost more because there are far fewer made. I settled for a US board but I am an Yank anyway. Slight difference in layout but the real difference is the absence of a £or a € key. But you can just set the keyboard input to US International and type the symbols using alternate and shift keys. Even ebay in the UK seemed to have far more US keyboards then UK.

From what I gather and this is going back a while there were posts on Google asking how to play Broken Sword. The concensus seemed to be that it isnt supported on these graphics cards The game installs and the opening movie runs and then it is basically impossible to see anything. Big white spaces no real graphics at all and sound seems fine. There was some sort of a patch that I downloaded from the games website but it didn't fix this problem and never claimed that it would. I'm going to try tomorrow anyhow. No error messages by the way.

Mike it never did and I tried to load it several times. I googled around and from what I gathered this is a common problem with this game and laptops with intgrated graphics. I have not done any of that in at least a year. The specs above say Directx 9.0 am I correct in assuming that is a later version than 8.1. I have since formatted and reloaded everything so maybe it will?? Cant hurt to try I guess.

I am just sad to learn that was a film. I always thought of it as a personal message from the invisable Sky Daddy. I really did not start this to annoy anyone. Except maybe Sarah Palin and I noticed that she hasn't logged on lately. -

I am not going to argue with you Seth if it makes you so angry but iI'm afraid that I can't pass up the urge to mention that "Been there, done that." seems to be the first cliche in the entire thread. But Wolfey is right, watch the movie it is one of the best. ever! -

The Invisable Sky Daddy?? Its not the Sky Daddy part that is troublesome. It is the invisable part that is a worry. Have you updated your internal graphics card?? -
:mad:I think I know what the answer to this is going to be but one can always hope. A number years back I took a liking to the point and click type of adventure games like Myst and Syberia, etc. I also took a liking to the Broken Sword series and was pleased that a new one came out a few years ago. I read the specs or thought I did and clearly missed one. The need for a video card with shader 1.1. My laptop just has the integrated Graphics card that comes with it and I believe just part of the Mother Board. Is there any possible way to play this game other than buying a new computer. I am not a gamer and really do not need a sophisticated graphics card.

not what I expected when I started this thing This has taken an interesting turn, not what I expected when I thought it might be fun but here we are. I was raised as were we all with concept of freedom of religion. That to me includes freedom to be free of religion as well. While I have no idea what the true meaning of life may be I do know that if there is some higher being he/she /it will not deny a good person entry into whatever there may be because of what they choose to believe. For that matter I have no problem with anyone who chooses one religion over the other unless that religion has as part of its tenents the absorbtion of everyone else. This is not new to Islam, it is just that a faction or 2 beleive that it is their duty. I think the big problem that we face is on how many levels should we have to change in order to be inclusive. I admit to the usual post 9/11 concerns and that they may rise to the level of prejudice in its real meaning which differs greatly from racism. I think the run of the mill, non islamist, non extremist Muslim would better serve his/her religion if they would take the spoken or unspoken "but" away when they condemn terrorist acts. Condemnation has to be FULL STOP. If there are issues that need to be addressed that may have incited these acts they have to be dealt with only after the FULL and ABSOLUTE condemnation of the vile acts that we have come to believe are inevitable. "I condem but I Understand...."is an invitation to continue no matter how well meaning the statement was intended. -

There is no question that even in democracy's the political system is flawed. Mostly it comes down to the need to raise money in order to win. There are usually more qualified people out there who simply can't raise the cash to run. That does not mean that we should remove ourselves from the process. Things can always get worse if the wrong choice is made. It is our obligation to educate ourselves and then evaluate how best to exercise a right that others would die for. You cannot be afraid to be wrong or the choice will be made by those far less qualified than you -

I was trying for a clever reply but decided to just let your words stand. Voting is the simplest thing anyone can do to help initiate changes in policies that you don't like. People that say that "they are all the same, so why vote?" are usually the loudest voices when it is time to *****. -

I think you should probably get a better government. (Hmm Wonder how you do that!) As for me Im just going to sit here and hum the theme from "Patton." Unfortuatly I dont know the one from "Rambo.":D -
I will send you a private message with the guys I used but I really just found them on ebay. I believe they have a website of their own. Also when you try to find specific directions you may have to look around a little bit to get specifics with pictures. For example I could not find how to replace a keyboard for my laptop but could find how to change a cd/dve drive. Of course to do that you have to remove the keyboard.

Didnt finish Do I not for a minute think that what he was looking for was a really great life for himself after it was all over. Or that he wanted to be loved by all etc. The thing is he knew what was needed to be done and did it. He may not even be a good guy but he was a good president. You are both intelligent guys who have mastered some of the most complicated stuff going. I dont mean that to be patronising either. But allowing your anger at the status quo to avoid learning where the alternatives lie or who in politics can make things better is short sighted. There are good leaders out there and where there is a choice one is usually better than the other. Everything can be fixed. You are to young to give up so easily. This is not the way I thought this thread would go but it does concern me. -

It seems to me that you are both missing the point. Now I know that an old guy like me must have lost the plot a long time ago so why listen. I once watched a tv show (I think it was JAG or some other highbrow drama) and an old guy asked the young one "do you know what it feels like to be 70? The answer was no. And the reply was yes you do because it feels the same as it does when you are 20. or something like that. The fact is that you are disappointed that politicians are not pure of heart so to hell with all of them. Frankly that is a lot of bull. If you are a sports fan do you really care whether your favorite player honed his skills for the money or the glory of the team. Do you care if the great actor in a movie took the part in order to entertain you or for the money. ETC ETC The only thing that you should really care about is whether you liked the film, if your team is winning and so on/ One of our better presidents was Bill Clinton. Aside from the obvious diversion he did a pretty good job, Do I think he is a great guy? Do I -

Dalo, you should. We are experiencing what happens when politicians lose track of what is going on around them. We have deregulated ourselves into an econmic nightmare, but hey, the surge is working in Iraq. Ain't that great. Nobody claims to have cared much about politics in Germany of the 1930's (no im not that old.) Maybe they were not lying and they just didn't. So they got what they got and the whole world paid the price. You may not want politics to matter but it does. -

So how about them mapleleafs?? Glad its not a pc problem. So if I gather what you are saying, you have no strong convictions! :D I have been around long enough to be even more cynical then you and happily I don't think I really am. I remember when we were told not to vote for Bobby Kennedy because he was too ambitious. He was running for President of the United States that kind of requires a certain degree of ambition. The all have it it is how they use it and to what ends that count. Someone has to run government, any government, I just hope it is going to be someone smart enough to do reasonably well. If they can and do I am not all that concerned about personal ambition. By the way, what is NA government. Ohhh ANY government? Just got that or am I wrong. -

I just spent at least 15 minutes creating a post here and the page just refreshed and returned to here. I don't know if I hit a key without noticing or whether it just does that after a while but I have lost the impulse to repeat it. I will reduce it to one sentance. Sarah Palin scares the hell out of me and the fact that McCain (who I was considering supporting) would choose her makes it clear that he will put his election above the good of the country and perhaps the worls. He is 72 years old, not to old to be president but old enough to be very very careful of who he picks to hang around if he doesn't. I have no problem with a woman as President and supported Hillary Clinton. (3 sentences actually) -
Hi Grandad I dont know where you live but a few months ago I spilled coffee on my paltop and caught it quckly enough to avaid damage to anything but thye keyboard. I got a new one from ebay for less than €30.00. Unfortunately it came with a broken key. They of course agreed to a return but that would leave me without a keyboard. This place actually got me a new little hinge to replace the one broken in shipping. Also in most cases you can find directions on nline for replacing the keyboard. If you want the name I will PM you with it after I look. I don't know them from Adam so this is not a plug.
