OK Jim, yes it is a graphics card, I have looked it up, the two plugs, you pulled them off the graphics card yes? if so they should either be different and one won't plug into the others socket, or they are the same, if they are the same it shouldn't matter which way round they go. Do the cables go directly to the power supply or to the mother board? If we can get the graphics card back up and running OK, we stand a chance with the sound, which I think may not actually be connected to the graphics card, and will still be on board or via a separate sound card. Let us know what you find in the sound, video and game controllers once it is working. Nev.

Hi, sorry, I have only just seen this. I have one of the Panasonic SD card video camera's and the file type is indeed MPEG format. If the file type isn't MPEG then as it states the TV will not play it. There is an extremely good and free video converter available called AVC "Any Video Converter" available from here- Free Video Converter - Any Video Converter Free Version - convert video to any formats, avi to MPEG, avi to MP4, flv to MPG Install that program, then use it to convert your video to the MPEG 1 or 2 format then transfer it back to the SD card, everything should work OK then. Please be aware the converting process will take some time, in the case of a long video it could take several hours. Nev.

Hi again, this access denied message and the file may be locked or in use by another process. Now makes me wonder if you are definitely running a full administrator account. You said much earlier that you got someone in to set it up for you, some of these guys are notorious for setting up their own secret admin account, therefore forcing you to call them back when something like this happens. Can you have a look and see how many accounts are set up on this machine? Nev.

Hi, Lets look at the basics first, have you checked the microphone volume control, is there a tick in the mute box? is the volume slider up at the top or near it? does other sounds work OK and can you play music files etc? Nev.

Hi Jim, two questions, Did the on board Audio work when you removed the sound card? Second, can you give us the full details, make and model number of that sound card then I may be able to find where those cables plug back into. Hopefully another of our tech guys might have come across this sound card and know any way. Also, if you go back to the device manager and re open the sound video and game controllers do you see any red or yellow question or exclamation marks. You probably will until we get those plugs back in, but would like to know what you see after that. Nev.

Hi, in that drop down menu, select the "Realtek HD Audio Output", then click OK. It may be that the wrong thing was selected. Let us know if that turns your sound on, don't worry about the number of options on that list, it is standard so the software can be used with all types of sound chips.

Hi Paul, I see what you mean, but there is a problem! Any browser, either IE, Firefox, Chrome or whatever, all work the same and will open a new window at the size of the previous one when in the sizeable mode and not much you can do to change that. The only way would be to resize down the last window before opening the next. Nev.

Knowing some of your needs Bob that is quite a decent machine, what is more, if you decide to branch off into video it should handle that well too, plus a full TB HD, plenty of storage room for long video clips. No doubt there will be more replies, so see what a few others think too. Nev.

Hi Mij, I am concerned about the trojan, how was it removed? these backdoor things are notorious for returning and do need specialised help to get rid properly. my advice at this point is to post for help in our malware removal section, just to have the logs analysed to check if there are other malware problems present. Malware of that nature would certainly account for the slowness. Nev.

OK, lets see if we can find out what that message is, you should see an option "Disable Automatic Restart" try that and reboot, it should then display that message, if it does, can you copy it to your next post please. It might give us a clue as to what next to try. Nev.

Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. A look at that motherboard, Foxconn - Products: Motherboard tells me it will not support a processor of 3.0Ghz only up to 1.333. However it states it will support Pentium 4. it will also take up to 4GB of RAM and has PCIe-16, one slot, and PCIe-1,2 Slots so a graphics card is a possibility, however you may also need to upgrade the power supply to provide enough for a gaming graphics card. A lot depends on this lower speed support for the processor, which would have to be changed. All in all, costs wise for the needed bits to upgrade, it could cost more than buying another machine for the purpose. One of our gaming members may know a bit more, but I reckon it isn't worth upgrading. Nev.
