  1. Hi Richard, It is easy enough to set up a new User Account - and worth a try :) click here
  2. Hi jontye You listed the above as options earlier. Try selecting "Last Known Good Configuration" This is an outside chance but worth a try as nothing will be lost in doing so. Try creating a new user account: click here Once created shut down then select the new account on startup. Let me know if this account has the same problems.
  3. Silicon repair - good for at least 10 years I would say. :) Not sure of the make of our freezer. It was a cheap one! The lady got a bit upset when I didn't buy the additional insurance. Just think how much I have saved :) :) Computers have a built-in obsolescence I think. Text message to husband on a very cold day in January: Wife - Windows frozen !! Smart Husband's reply - no problem ...get warm water and pour over dry off with rag :) Wife - Computer completely F##*%% now !!!!
  4. I thought that my freezer that we have in the garage was doing well as we have had it 26 years at least. It was delivered on Christmas Eve at 8-00 am !! 68 years is amazing !! It is sad to have to scrap a perfectly good piece of equipment just because of a seal.
  5. Hi Richard Try the following: 1. Start > type in .......services.msc ......Enter 2. Scroll down to "Windows Update Service" ......right click on this and select "Stop" 3. Now go to Start > Computer > C: > Windows and scroll down to "SoftwareDistribution" folder Right click on this and select "Rename" Rename it .......SoftwareDistribution-old 4. Now go back to "Windows Update Service" and right click on it .....then click on "Start" 5. Restart your computer. If this doesn't let your system run updates then go back to SoftwareDistribution-old folder and rename it back to Software Distribution.
  6. Hi and welcome to ExTS Try SeaTools from here: click here As you can't boot up you will need the DOS version [ there is a Windows version that you can run from Windows if this is accessible ]
  7. Hi Nadger and welcome to ExTS. Granddad posted this 5 years ago - and people are still finding it useful :) Glad to hear that you found a solution to your problem.
  8. Hi and welcome to ExTS :) I suspect that the router may be the cause of your problem. I get this behaviour with my own system at home and have put up with it for some time now. I know I need a replacement router. I have also experienced problems at another location. I couldn't use the wireless network with my laptop - everybody else was ok. At the same location last week I could access the net. Reason: They had changed the router. If you try using a cable I suspect that you will get a fast connection without dropping. Wireless routers are a law unto themselves. :) I assume that this is a desktop machine ( "tried a new wireless card" ) ? Do other devices drop out if you use then in the exact location that the problem machine is sitting in ?
  9. Hi, Other file types are .png / .gif
  10. Hi and welcome to ExTS :)
  11. Hi Ray - seems that you are not alone then :) You could try what Randy suggests - but be prepared for basic settings.
  12. Hi Ray What is the advert? Is it an actual email ?
  13. Give it a go as it is at the moment. If there are further problems we will try to locate the updated drivers for you :)
  14. If the MS BDA works for you then this is fine. Have you tried YouTube and other video? If this seems to be ok run it for a while and see if it blue screens now.
  15. After you install these drivers monitor the system. Hopefully there should be no more blue screens.
  16. Hi - the most recent log indicates a possible video card driver problem. These software programs are often helpful but sometimes they can mis-diagnose. Do the following please: Windows key + S type in ..... device manager .... click on Device Manager box that shows below Click the > next to Display Adapters What - exactly - is listed ?
  17. Oh boy - oh boy ..........we like cake. Just leave it in the Mods Bar where we left your very expensive present :)
  18. Hi It is suggesting that the problem lies with your Video Card drivers or that the Video Card took too long to respond. Personally I would leave well alone unless the system blue screens again. If it does then it may need the drivers updating. The error log is not very specific and the crash could be caused by numerous factors. Leave it until it happens again - if in fact it does.
  19. Download the "Crash Analysis Tool" from here - click here You will need to scroll down the page a bit. Install and run it. The Analyse button will give you any relevant results. You need to know the date and time of the crash.
  20. Hi ahai1 and welcome to ExTS One restart is not a cause for concern. It could be virtually anything that caused it. If it happens again - and it blue screens - make a note of the STOP error number. This may give us a clue as to what has caused the problem. Hopefully it has sorted itself out and will behave from now on. Keep us posted :)
  21. Happy Birthday Christian - hope it was a good one for you :)
  22. Hi "Limited Connection" is router speak for "no connection at all !! " This doesn't mean that you have a partial connection - read it as "no connection" I still think the problem is related to the router. It is difficult to try to guess when you don't have access to the router at the moment. :(
  23. Hi James and welcome to ExTS Sorry for the slow response - I am away from home at the moment. Think of your case as a wind tunnel. You have to get enough cool air through it to keep temperatures low. Heat rises - so I would certainly have one of the fans on top of the case as an exhaust. It is always better to have more intake than exhaust capability in my opinion.
